    The funny thing for me is out on the trails I can wheelie and pivot enough when needed, but if I try to do these things in a practice 😐. Anyway, I'm in southern New England where we have mostly slow technical terrain. The one thing I did that made the most improvement to my riding is slow to no speed balance practice, I even added standing balance drills to my regular exercise routines...

    • @TySlimVlogs
      @TySlimVlogs 13 дней назад

      Those are great drills. Cones and slow speed stuff is very underrated. I have a trials bike as well that I use for having fun and popping around and using to get better for really gnarly technical Single track riding here.

    I found the trickiest part for me was brake control play with the pedal height and i,m on the rear brake really lightly before i even lift the front and constantly on it really lightly is the key when you get it right the brake will make your wheelie longer not over got a be really smoooth on the brake oh i might add i am tall and can slow wheelie for ages standing up but find it alot harder sitting i rode trials for a while which probly explains the why i,m shit sitting feels wrong oh and practice down hill good luck .

    • @TySlimVlogs
      @TySlimVlogs 19 дней назад

      I ride a trails bike as well and can drag the rear brake well on that. Some things help but I’m also trying to break some bad habits. Just need more practice I believe

  • @voiceofreason9238
    @voiceofreason9238 19 дней назад

    There are two basic kinds wheelies, power and balance. You are trying to learn the balance wheelie. I can't quite read your terrain from the video but especially when learning, you want a slight uphill and not a downhill. To get comfortable don't be afraid to do mini-wheelies by going slow and blipping the throttle and pulling up on the bars to pop the front wheel up a little. Most people think of throttle control for a balance wheelie. I've found the best thing to do is put your front tire in front of you while sitting about head high and try to keep it there. Try using your back brake as well to control your front wheel's attitude. If you get into trouble with the bike coming back too far a quick tap will drop the front wheel faster and safer than chopping the throttle. Don't wheelie immediately from a standing start. Don't feature the clutch to control the wheelie, use throttle or brake. From there it's a natural progression to doing a wheelie and turn the bike 180 degrees. You can now try a standing on the pegs wheelie. Then to the most fun wheelie, standing on the seat which is easier than it sounds. Have fun!

    • @TySlimVlogs
      @TySlimVlogs 19 дней назад

      Wow thanks for the comment! I’m on flat ground. I can find a slight uphill and practice balance point a little bit. I think I need to feather the back brake while still staying steady on the throttle

    • @voiceofreason9238
      @voiceofreason9238 19 дней назад

      @@TySlimVlogs Exactly. I love to wheelie and this skill is so helpful in off-road riding when you have to lift the front wheel to get over obstacles in the trail such as a downed tree. I once asked a local fast guy how to do exactly what you're asking. That fast guy was Rod Bush, Gold Medalist for the US ISDT team in the 1970's. Rod then went on to become president of KTM America.

    I used to ride wheelies with ease but after 20 years of not riding, it does not come back so quickly. I too wanted to start with slow speed get the front wheel up but don't find it particularly easy. It's probably just a lot of practice and then one day, it clicks and is natural feeling. Remember learning to ride a bike? It seemed daunting at one point but then became easy.
