In this episode, we chat about the unique summer vacations in Northern Europe, the trending concept of "coolcations," and how Norway isn't as cold as people think! We also share updates on our garden, our mischievous robotic lawnmower, and the wildlife around our home, including mink and Canada geese.
Join us as we prepare for an exciting knitting cruise in Norway, where we'll explore yarn shops, enjoy the Midnight Sun in Svalbard, and share some knitting inspiration. Plus, we dive into our love for collecting vintage dolls and the joy of redecorating our studio and dollhouse. Sit back, relax, and knit with us as we take you through our summer adventures and more!
We hope you all had a wonderful summer!🤩🤩

We are aware that there are sound issues in this podcast. Please accept our deepest apologies for the inconvenience. One of our microphones broke down and we did not notice it until after the podcast was recorded. And unfortunately, due to our extremely busy schedule, we couldn’t re-record it as we were on our way to London, then Venice then Oslo. We hope we will be forgiven and we promise we will do our best to be better next time.
And I loved the "Welcome to my Garden".....
As a speech therapist who works with children with special needs, I am delighted you are in your nephew’s life! He needs you both! My sister never spoke till she was 5. I wd translate for my parents! It is why I decided to be a SLP. I love my profession!
I love your podcasts. They don’t even have to have knitting
Thank you!
Love the shirt that Carlos has! “Shannigans Coordinator” 😂😂😂
I absolutely need this t-shirt
I think it’s so amazing you found the doll in the garbage. Her hair is beautiful and now you need to make her a wardrobe of clothes. 😊
Thank you for supporting your grand-nephew -- someone who understands and supports an unusual kid can make all the difference in the world. And he sounds like I was as a kid, so I feel supported just listening to the two of you talk about him.
Arne was so cute telling about his goose bumps when he found the blonde doll in the trash❤
😍😍
Knitting, painting porselein while listening/ watching this episode and what a joy it was.
Glad to see you're back.
Hope you have a good trip and take care. Enjoy your day ❤
Welcome back! Lovely to enjoy your company again and hey, we even got some knitting! Bonus!!!! Have a great cruise!
Loved it. Glad you are in your Nephew's life. 🎉S
Arne, your compassion and humor is why we love you. I am glad you discovered your doll. I found a book of a favorite author at a swap shed in my dump. I recognized the colors of the spine. Made me so happy. Have you ever seen the books by Tasha Tudor? You would appreciate her art, gardens and crafts. I think dollhouse too. Love watching and listening to you both.
Great color for your studio, Arne! Delicious!
What a fabulous story about the dolly...:):):)
What a lovely color for a room. Will love to see the episode of show and tell of your beautiful addition.
Another thoroughly enjoyable episode. Love your support of your grand-nephew. So good to see you again. Thank you for the great episode.
Thank you for watching!
That yellow wall looks so comfy! Love it!
I just absolutely love listening to you guys .......❤❤❤❤
The light is amazing love it.
Hope you are enjoying the cruise.
I completely loved spending this time with you. I was knitting while you talked of so many interesting and diverse things! I am SUPER excited about ARNE's doll rescued from the trash. I rescue a lot of dolls and bears from the trash! They just seem to find me. Thank you, again, for an enjoyable hour.
❤O, so glad to see you!
Arne’s glee at finding his doll has not worn off! Your nephew is blessed to have your encouragement and thoughtfulness. 😮 The basketweave/checkered sock is tempting. My dream is to knit socks. Never apologize for doing things the way you do and being YOU. YOU are why we are here! We get you and love you both. ❤ Happy and safe voyage.
The way you spoke of your nephew was heart warming. You two are wonderful. ☺️💙
Great decision going with yellow walls. Enjoy the cruise and see you when you get back. ❤
Thank you!
Hi, we used to "paint" pictures from pressed flowers as a gift for our grandma when we were kids. Nice to remember those times :) (I think I need some doll house 🤔 You are so inspiring!) Thank you 👋
Yes a stampede is a herd of cattle, horses etc. running full out generally out of control...so glad you are back from your restful break vacation. Love Arne's new studio.
Always love these episodes. Thank you.
You are welcome!
I love the way you support the nephew whose connection to the world is a little bit unusual! And how great that he loves painting and furnishing the dollhouse and building cool things like cup-and-stringg telephones!
😍
How refreshing! I am settling in with a cup of coffee and preparing to enjoy this SAKFAB.
Carols! Your shirt is awesome. :D Oooh, I love the new socks - so pretty. Arne your new room is lovely. I hope the cruise is going well.
I love your shirt Carlos!!!
❤️
That doll you found is the best find ever!!
It is ok that we just sit and chat ,It has been so fun.Have a great trip.
Arne, I sure can believe you haven't changed since chilhood, we so often see you inner child popping out when you do art. It is lovely how you both support your nephew in his differences. quite touching !
I love your shirt, Carlos😂
Yes! That’s what a stampede is! It refers to crushing mobs of people too!
Glad you’re having fun, kids. Enjoy your new space.
Loving your video while crocheting
❤️❤️
4 Canada geese this year, 20 next year! We are always exploring new ways in Michigam to keep the geese away from our yards. You are correct, Arne.....the poo is everywhere! We call it goose grease!
Never heard that phrase, goose grease!
First Carlos I love your shirt! So happy Arnes doll now has a sister. ❤ love your podcast always and all the amazing information, art, stories and fun facts that you share with us. Enjoy the cruise 🚢
Welcome back!!! I loved the vintage episodes and it is also so nice to see your lovely faces in current time! 😊
Hi guys! I love your t-shirt, Arne. We have a very hot summer. It began with rain but after, lot of heat. All fruits and garden vegetables were very early. Some blueberries producers have too much and don't know what to do. Have a great cruise.
Hi guys. Baked wild blueberry muffins to have with my coffee and watch sit & knit. Beautiful garden. ❤
😍😍
Loving the podcast Arne and Carlos! Glad you enjoyed your summer break. A new word for your vocabulary is gosling, which is a baby goose :)
👍🏻👍🏻
Loved seeing you again! Have a great time on your cruise! Anxious to see your podcast from the ship! Thanks for doing this!
Thank you for watching!
It’s wonderful to have you back!
Good to be back!
Look at those pressed flowers! Is there any limit to your creativity!
😍😍
Wonderful episode!!! The dollshouse, even without theatrical lighting, is very magical. And Arne's story about the doll in the dumpster really made me smile. A happy ending for you and, of course, for the doll :) 🙂
Great visit guys. Have a safe and fabulous cruise.
So glad you guys are back. Missed you! I love that your grand-nephew is able to create and not being stifled. Our two youngest boys were so creative and imaginative. The middle one became an artist who paints, and the youngest is into drama and dance. Their wives are always saying how the boys in their family could not participate in anything but football and other sports. Our boys played football, too. I wanted them to explore all avenues, and I brought their father along kicking and screaming, ha ha. His parents were big into boys do this . . . girls do that. How ridiculous! Enjoy the cruise! 🥰
It is great to be back☺️☺️
Hi guys what a surprise to see you back I so enjoyed you today I loved the new studio color what a find to get the doll she is so pretty I remember when you showed us when you were pressing flowers they look beautiful in the book from Japan well have fun on your cruise and will catch you next time take care ❤❤
Loved the topics you covered. So good to see the addition finished and painted; I , too, love that shade of yellow and have a room in that color- still like it after 30 years🌞 The socks are so nice with your ‘signature stripes’- Mary
Love those socks. Socks are my favorite thing to knit.
Loved seeing Arne’s new study! The yellow walls are so warm and inviting. I also love seeing your Blythe dolls displayed behind you. I’m going to Blythecon in Vegas in about a week!
Yay, you're back! I haven't been long around here, but I do like you guys a lot, so, it's nice to hear from you again. I love the Allers magazine cover, very, very nice..and the moose lamp is beautiful😅 I hope your grandnephew enjoys the doll house/furniture; kids need all kinds of support ❤ Hope you have a lovely time on the cruise, do let us see what we are missing 😂 Greetings from Spain😊
Welcome to our channel!
Thank you for the video boys. You kept me company through lots of knitting. I enjoyed everything, especially the doll updates. I loved seeing your Blythe dolls from a distance, and I’m so happy to hear that you are getting more November. You would not believe how many of your Blythe jumpers I’ve knitted this year for my Blythe dolls and for other peoples dolls. The dolls are better dressed than I am now. 😄 I love your Licca Chan draw! Please please please let me buy your Japanese book for licca when it’s printed.
Thank you!
Talking about coolcations snd tourists bringing down jackets in July. When I was a teenager I went to the Banff school of fine arts for the summer. Some other partcipants came from washington state in the US. Their parents pavked winter clothes for them! It was July and August! This mid 1960's. And quite funny.
I love that you have a view of the garden and water. So meditative.
It is very serene.
Yay ! Glad you are back - spent this whole episode needlepointing - my progress had stalled, but this episode was just what I needed to get going again - thank you 😊
Another wonderful episode. My partner and I are taking a “cool-cation” next year. We’re joining you on the Knitting under the Northern Lights trip! And yes, would like the pattern for the 2 pairs of socks. Enjoy your Knitting under the Midnight Sun trip. Hope you remembered the binoculars! Best wishes.
😍😍
I have been away visiting my grand dogs. I bought them several Dolly Parton dog toys! They loved them. Did you know that they existed? Freija(spelling?) would love the mug with Dolly's face on it! Blue carries hers around the house! Blue is a rescue and she has a brown eye and a blue eye!!! She is so precious!
I think the Canada Goose is the reason for the saying loose as a goose! I like the yellow color of your studio. It's a happy color. You can't help but feel happy surrounded by that color! 😄. Congratulations on your new doll...what luck!
No, we did not.
Absolutely ❤Carlos t-shirt! Welcome back so missed!
Welcome back to SAKFAB!!! Have boatloads of fun on the cruise. Carlos, I think your tee-shirt is misspelled. Shouldn't it say, Instigator? Also, we need to see your beautiful feet! Arne, as a birdwatcher, it is such 3 peaceful, relaxing, and refreshing pastime. If you would like to borrow this, a youngster who couldn't ID a bird would simply call it a "hoppy tweetie." 😊 Your new studio is so beautiful, Arne! Your decision to fetch needed supplies elsewhere has brought a lovely simplicity to it. Perhaps the clown painting needs a fabric curtain to pull for Carlos' visits....
As always, lovely podcast thank you! Love to just listen to the two of you, there doesn't even have to be any actual knitting from your side😊.
It really was my speed🤭.
As a bit of an introvert, to sit and knit while others are chatting away, listening but not really having to partake in the conversation? Pure bliss!😊.
Loved those socks! And the dolls. That beautiful, beautiful calming shade of yellow. Bright , but not overly so. This whole podcast has been exactly what I needed. Thank you once again❤.
Another wonderful podcast thank you! ❤
Finally getting caught up. Thanks again for another fun episode, filled with such a variety of cool stuff. I think you should do a SAKFAB sitting on a couch and wearing suits liked the ones in the magazine picture 😊
That would be fun, maybe one day!
have been here since 2020, during the CoViD disasters around the world; love everything about the both of you, this video was a life saver to many, have no idea why some are suddenly complaining about it, silly people
your grand nephew sounds like he's a character from your own hearts (similar) love it when some are a different mold from others. it keeps the world interesting!
love the new doll Arne, glad you were able to find her, knitted pants to match her cardigan would look lovely
thanx so much for sharing
Thank you for supporting us!
Love the doll story! ❤ I enjoyed your Pajama Garden posts this summer.
Thank you very much!
I’m ‘ coming back’ as one of Arne’s dolls one day - just to have you guys design for me!! Great to see you!
Love Arne’s studio and also Carlos’ shenanigans shirt !!
Love to see the house renos one day …sounds gorgeous. Creative little nephew!
Enjoy your trip !
❤
Thank you!!
Yayyy! So great to see you both. Yesterday, it felt a bit like Autumn here, and my knitting was calling to me. 🧶❤
❤❤
I love your collection of Blythe dolls! They are so cute❤❤❤
Thank you!
Love the yellow
Thank you!
I first heard Orville Peck last week! ❤
Yes, stampede is animals running.
2 new words this week - gosling and stampede.
I would love both of the sock patterns. I want to refresh my sock drawer this year with new pairs.....
Cake and yarn all in one place, heaven 😋 Sian from North Wales 😊
lol - I have two copies of your book of 99 Christmas balls. My daughter gave me one at my request for Christmas or my birthday. I don’t remember which. When I rearranged my bookcase, I couldn’t find it, so I bought another copy so I can make sure I had it. and after that, I found the originals so I have two copies!
I hope you make a video showing Arne’s new studio! I would love to see it in its entirety.
I have missed you guys.
😍😍
You two are great for “sit and bind”. Love watching you cover all the topics while I worked on my binding of my quilt. Can’t wait to see video from your cruise where there could be more knitting.
I came back with so much yarn from Norway and Denmark I had to buy another suitcase to bring it home! 😂
Are there loons on your lake? My grandmother lived in northern Wisconsin. We would visit her every summer-always at the end of July (my dad’s family was from Poland, not sure if this correlates with your discussion about when various countries go on holiday). My family would spend the days swimming, canoeing, floating on an inner tube while reading a book, and playing in the lake while my grandparents were at work. I have fond memories of watching the pair of common loons floating on her lake and on a rare occasion witnessing one diving for fish. Our ears were quickly trained to listen for the hauntingly beautiful calls they would make to each other. The most exciting part was when we would see the loon chicks riding on their mother’s back, or swimming alongside the parents. Being near water is so peaceful. I enjoy seeing your pyjama garden series, seeing your house & property, and learning about the Norwegian culture. As I said, my dad’s family was from Poland, my mother’s grandparents came to Chicago from Sweden, but I’ve never been to either place (and likely will never be able to afford it). Somehow listening to both of you helps me to form an image in my mind of the areas my great-grandparents may have lived (and I’m certain distant cousins are still living).
That sounds lovely😍
oh Arne .. you are lovely.. xx finding the doll..in the plastic bag.. xx and you have hit the nail on the head about Education... encouraging your nephew in his creative interests .. and the rest will fall into place.. xx
Canadian Geese are a problem in the USA too. Many have forgotten how to migrate back to Canada
I name all my appliances and equipment too! 😁
The only way!
Love listening to u both. A fantastic attitude to raising your nephew. You both are delightful.
Traveling, people can always research online and get a general overview of the current weather, but also we k ow that being next to and ocean and large body of water and change the temp very quickly❤❤❤❤
It's great to see you both! I always feel inspired from watching your shows. You're much appreciated.
Thank you!! Your content is always wonderful!! Keep up the great work!!
👍🏻👍🏻
I have missed you, so glad you're back! I can't wait for a tour when all the renovations are done, your tastes are so different (and more refined) than mine. Everything is so beautiful.
I'm also fascinated by your invasive species in Norway. The Canada goose and king crab are native and welcome here.
I'm signed up for Antarctica, can't wait. Your cruises are the best.
😍😍
Love the yellow walls. Maybe you weren’t knitting, but I was while watching.
I am so much looking forward to the Japan trip in november😊
Lovely to see you back! 👍🏻🥰 Love the walls of Arnes studio! Really warm and light!
Haha, Carlos is the shenanigans coordinator! Love your Blythe dolls in the background.
Part of the Benelux has spread holidays, Carlos. It starts half July and ends half, to end August. 6 weeks. Because of the heat, they start to give 2 weeks in May. It is even longer in Italy, 8 weeks. Working parents in splits. Oh dear, Mink Liberation Front!
Great episode! Have fun on your knitting cruise!
❤️❤️
Thanks for the chat, love hearing about your nephew, you two are so supportive love hearing heart warming. Love seeing all your projects. Thanks again for sharing
Presentate sempre delle cose interessanti e siete simpaticissimi❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤g
We're glad you're back. Your new studio looks great and would love to see more. I want to become a member but can't recall my Apple ID I need to join. Hopefully I can figure that out soon!
I'm in the U.S. and a Norwegian cruise sounds great this time of year, but I don't knit or crochet. I love your SAKFAB anyway. 😊
❤❤❤❤❤🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Love the horse and wagon with the house but not the clown
😃
