I test drove this car last week. Turned off that start/stop thing. Had no issues with a slow display. It was very responsive. The handling was fantastic. I’m only 5’2” so had no visibility issues. I am going to buy it.
I never watch 30-minutes long review videos, but your review was great! Keep up the good work! And as for the Jaguar XE 2020, it looks dope, but doesn't let the old XE look too old either, great facelift model!
No doubt, one of the most beautiful cars on the market right now. It’s no my list for next time. The German cars look bland by comparison. Another triumph for Ian Callum.
Dang those night shots were stellar! Looks amazing to start with but yea well done. I like that you show the experience at night as well driving, exterior, etc.... wish I could do that haha. Sweet review Forrest!

Great reviews. We recently bought a 2018 XE 25t. It had only 10k.Best engine ever. AWD 246HP. We are very happy with that car. We were planning to buy a new 2020, but the cost was beyond our budget and all the touch screen panels made us little worried. Sometimes the brand name is enough before you do any comparisons. I just test drove all these cars a few months ago. The BMW 340 M first of all is not a real M it’s a car with M trim to look sporty. You can’t compare this car to a BMW M. A true M is like $85k. I chose the Jag over the BMW 340 because the BMW handled like a BOAT! It was boring and had a weird cluttered boxy interior. The Jaguar R dynamic was exhilarating to drive. Nimble, fast, connected to the road, corners like it’s on rails. It reminded me of BMW 3 series back in the day before it was Americanized. BMW got knocked off it’s pedestal a long time ago by Alfa Romeo. BMW is not a drivers car any more its a boring mass produced car in my opinion. The BMW 340 didn’t hold candle to the Jaguar R Dynamic when it comes to handling. I’m also 6’1” and can put the seats back too far and stretch out my entire body. In south Cali we call BMW the Toyota of LA hahaha.
@@crownr0yalonice Residual is the work of Satan. I want to own my car outright when I hand over that last monthly instalment, not fork out an additional percentage of the purchase price. I agree with you on the whole dealership experience - I'm sure there would be many more Jaguars out there if you didn't have to deal with the dealership for sales or servicing.
If only they offered the XE with their new electrically assisted inline-6 with ~400hp or an all electric version I’d be sold. I’ve yet to drive a Jaguar Land Rover product, including my own Land Rover, equipped with a ZF transmission that shifts as smoothly, quickly or efficiently as a BMW, Audi or even FCA products equipped with the exact same transmission. For some reason JLR tunes their transmissions to shift way too late (engine revs too high), slow to shift and the rev matched downshifts aren’t always nearly as smooth as you’d like. BMW and VW are the masters of transmission tuning. Their cars shift extremely smoothly, fast and exactly when you expect them to.
Interesting, I have an 2018 Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio and a 2019 Jag XF 3.5 s which I believe uses the same transmission and honestly, I hadn't noticed any difference when it comes to shift quality, I will take them both out for a spin tonight and see if I notice any differences.
The last one was better than the BMW and the Audi and the Merc, it's the best car I have ever driven, way better than the competition but lets keep it quiet, I like to smirk at the competition as I drive past them
The blackout package makes the car look a bit cheap; the side profile remainns very similar to the Kia Stinger. Excellent head and tail lights though. Plastic mesh looks VERY low end - should have more of a 3d look to it.

My 2016 screens/infotainment is very laggy as well. Switching from one playlist to another with a USB tethered ipod is very slow. It's crazy crazy slow if it's engaged in the first 2 minutes after starting the car. I basically have to wait for my car to boot up, like Windows 98. It's no bueno

Chose this above all german and other brands because its different and extremely sophisticated. Also i am 6 '2 and have no issues sitting comfortably in the back seat either ( long drives included )

This is pretty affordable in Europe for what it is. £35k or €45k. Competes with a mid range 3 series. No idea how they expect to sell it for $65k in the US. Blame Brexit and our now terrible exchange rate!
Hahah get used to it. I feel the same way...It was the ridiculous MPG per fleet regulations put on the on auto industry...It kills me to see every car that used to come standard with a V6 have a high torque 4 banger. The performance is actually comparable with the new technology and the 6 cylinder only got 10 mpg but the sound isn’t the same. I’ll take a gas guzzling 6 or 8 over the new 4’s any day
@@stuartphillips He’s off on the price tag. The average R Dynamic is around 55k. When my XF lease was up I told the dealership “NO way am I buying an XE” Until they showed me the all new Xe r dynamic. Holy crap! I had to tell BMW “sorry I bought something else “. Huge difference between the two models
thanks for the review when I first saw the front end I thought Volvo with that big Billet and then my first take on the back was Lexus IS but I do very much like the look of this Jaguar. I have always liked Jaguars, even though I've never driven one and I probably will never be able to afford one. THAT info system lag is a complete deal-breaker, I don't know what they were thinking even letting that hit the public. THE heads-up display on the windshield was barely visible. I wish you would have taken night video of the headlights, the brake lights, the turn signals. Your wife is No Holds Barred--garbage-- I don't know if I agree with garbage, but there were a lot of opportunities that Jaguar has definitely missed with this car. Nonetheless, thank you again, it was a pleasure to see your video.
I actually did have night shots of the headlights in this video, as well as the tail lights. The only thing I did not get was a night shot of the Head-Up display or the turn signals so my apologies. Also, my wife has driven many cars with me so her opinion is pretty valid. Garbage may have been harsh but the reality is that this vehicle is priced more than the best selling competition with less features, less power, less value, and less engagement. The chassis, handling, and overall drive feel are sublime! However, the lifeless engine, non engaging paddle shifters, and the uninspiring piped in sound pulls away from that in a huge way. They did well on this car but in the grand scheme of things this will be a hard sell for Jaguar when taking into consideration their competitions offerings.
Great review. Thanks. Can the lag on the Infotainment System be fixed via a software update or is all hope lost!? I'm talking from a realist point of view, not hypothetical. Maybe contact Jaguar support (not just the dealer) and file a complaint or suggestion?
Jaguar this month (November) issued a recall for the infotainment system. I took my F-Pace, which uses the same system, in for service and they updated the infotainment system as well. I can tell you with confidence now that it's WAY snappier; it feels at least 2x faster response time to your touch. I had the same thoughts initially as this review, but after the update, the UX is just so much better. Really happy to see Jaguar address the lag issue as it was indeed terrible.
@@hyak Appreciate the response bro, thanks and enjoy your F-Pace. I might buy 2020 xe next year or even save up for the upcoming all electric XJ. Peace!
Great Review, was looking for a review of the 2020 XE. Other cars I am considering are the Giulia, G70, and S60. Trying to get something a little different from what I have seen so far in my area.
The S60 drives / handles much worse than the others on your list, fundamentally different, much cheaper FWD platform. Instead I would add the new Cadillac CT4 to the list.
ok,here's my opinion on the XE! Design(exterior&enterior)is great,I would take this instead of the 3 Series without a doubt! but, considering the Jaguar's reliability, the way they cover their recalls(terrible btw),their depriciation,I would think twice before purchasing Jaguar! the XF has a 50% cheaper price, after just 5 yrs of usage, and it still looks as new,but hey,it's the Jaguar we're talking about! especially when Tata took it over, the reliability went down the hill! I love their ellegance, they feel very sturdy when you drive them, but to this harsh market these days,Jaguar is gonna have a tough time! great review btw!
I think even the older versions are very refined, but the older infotainment systems are awful. I have a late 2018 Mini Clubman 2L Exclusive spec and it is excellent. Fun, and well put together.
Mind blowing good looks and it's got sophisticated modern features to compliment those sexay sporty looks and emotional brand !!! Waaaay better than bmw and merc .

I'm just bustin on ya, but I was amused. ;) Good review in spite of the heighth, the width was spot on, lol.
14:35 when I started watching car reviews I was so dissapointed to see that almost all cars' infotainment is completely trash. I expected it to be just like an iPad performance but it seems automotive companies don't want to invest in a proper processing chip
Some the interior was a bit low rent in the old XE, they had to save money somewhere after spending so much on engineering this excellent chassis , suspension etc...unfair in my opinion they just can't win.
Lol more price then bmw 340 and i wonder y they going to struggle with sale, idk why they dont get it jag need to put good engine in that young people can tune easily so they can build a fan base, 18 19 year old people who gonna get them the fan base like a bmw 3 series, even with all the problem bmw is still fav of them all

Peace!
Red colour suits the car really well.
Hi there. Great review. Can I ask on the driver display when you have the map on can you zoom in on it as you drive?
great review 👌🏿🌋
Could you imagine the replacement cost for the heated windshield...
Karreil2525 Yes. You bring it at the dealer.
$520 installed
bravo jaguar
Great Review, was looking for a review of the 2020 XE. Other cars I am considering are the Giulia, G70, and S60. Trying to get something a little different from what I have seen so far in my area.
The S60 drives / handles much worse than the others on your list, fundamentally different, much cheaper FWD platform. Instead I would add the new Cadillac CT4 to the list.
@Seawolf Thanks for the suggestion haven't considered those yet, definitely will take a look!
@@Mgoblagulkablong Great suggestion too, definitely need to put this on the list. Dealer right down the road from me. Thanks!
The Alfa and G70 are fantastic. Either of those would be great. The S60 is better if you want more luxury.
@@forrestsautoreviewsofficial Thanks Forrest, keep up the great work. Definitely looking more toward performance than luxury.
ok,here's my opinion on the XE!
I'm glad they brought back the gear stick , the J stick would have been better...
I think even the older versions are very refined, but the older infotainment systems are awful. I have a late 2018 Mini Clubman 2L Exclusive spec and it is excellent. Fun, and well put together.
Great in depth review!
Thank you!! 😃
@@forrestsautoreviewsofficial I'm planning to get this car and I've seen a lot of reviews. Yours is by faaaaar the best review. Thanks 😘
65k for less then 300 hp and trq.....nope
InfoumusMOBB it’s 50k for 300 hp.....
Best drivers car of the pack.
Well, it definitely looks better than the BMW
@ not with BMW's new grilles they're not.
Nope
Mind blowing good looks and it's got sophisticated modern features to compliment those sexay sporty looks and emotional brand !!! Waaaay better than bmw and merc .
its kind of a older review so u may not respond. I have a few questions. Do u remember if it had parking assist? Also is the apple car play bluetooth or do u have to use a cable? Keep up the great work.
Yes, it did have park assist and no it was not wireless. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful car!
Why can't they put the exhausts to little bit to the side it would have looked even more sportier
Excellent cars and it's always called car of excellence 😘😘
Such a shame there’s no more V6 or Ingenium Diesel
Sorry - on the rear view mirror/camera. Did you say you can adjust the heighth of it? WHY do so many people say heighth? I thought is was a New York thing, but my buddy from Ohio says it too. I'm just bustin on ya, but I was amused. ;) Good review in spite of the heighth, the width was spot on, lol.
It’s sooooooo good looking
A tad overpriced, underspec and underpowered to be honest. Beautiful though.
What spec are you looking for? Care to explain?
If I bought this car used and the warranty was up, I’d swap a duratec or EcoBoost V6 Under the hood.
An extremely good looking car but it's too underpowered compared to a BMW 3 series M340i, Audi S5, or Mercedes C43.
Completely agree, I feel that this should be priced inline with the 330i, c300 or A4 to sell.
Imagine having handles from F-Type on XE!!
I'll never know why non Italian car brands call they're car color with Italian name
2 Door Coupe model....PLeeeeeeeeeeasssssseeeee !!!!!!!!!!!
Where was this filmed ?
Thumbnail looks like a BMW. Jaguar, the Pontiac of Europe.
Hardly, Jaguar still exist.
Unlike pontiac.
Why does a sub-300 HP Jag cost more than an m340i with 380 HP?
Because it's british lol
It costs less than 340i
I think there are many alternatives against JAGUAR.
As there are with every brand...
Make a video on Msport 3 seris
Jag You Are ...not Jagwar
14:35 when I started watching car reviews I was so dissapointed to see that almost all cars' infotainment is completely trash. I expected it to be just like an iPad performance but it seems automotive companies don't want to invest in a proper processing chip
Right here right there right in the middle lol
65k bare bones? Meaning 70-75 k is the price. That is m3 money.
Some the interior was a bit low rent in the old XE, they had to save money somewhere after spending so much on engineering this excellent chassis , suspension etc...unfair in my opinion they just can't win.
Nice car. Better then A4 and c class, but not 3 series
I would buy one but a little pricey.
No ambient light in this car ?
BARELY. Just faint blue lights in the door handle area, door pockets, and wireless charging pad area.
How tall are u
It's a "Jag YOU ar" not a "JAGWAR"
Lol more price then bmw 340 and i wonder y they going to struggle with sale, idk why they dont get it jag need to put good engine in that young people can tune easily so they can build a fan base, 18 19 year old people who gonna get them the fan base like a bmw 3 series, even with all the problem bmw is still fav of them all
Really solid, really liquid.
Good irony.
V6 OR V8 COME ON JAGUAR
Sorry but stopped at 6 minutes and going to call bs, you butchered the derivatives. R-dynamic has nothing to do with AWD. The "s badge" has nothing to do with the P300 engine.
No-1 Its Jag u ar. No-2 you need Black wheels on it.👍
Only 296 hp? Infiniti Q50 has 400...
