One thing about Taylor’s music is that as you go through life experiences you can go back and listen to her tracks and appreciate them in a new way. For example, I went through a relationship I had to put a stop to, I had to end it or it would end me… I hadn’t listened to Happiness in a while and it just hit different, same thing for Closure and Tolerate It. I liked them when Evermore came out but now I listen to them through another perspective and they speak to different parts of me that didn’t exist before. It’s kinda amazing ❤️
This is so true. I always say Taylor is the soundtrack to my Life ❤ she has a unique way of making you feel like you’re the main character in her writing.
So for Gold Rush, when she says “my mind turns your life into folklore” folklore are fictitious tales passed down generation to generation, so when she sees this person she’s envisioning their life together. She’s very attracted to this person but chooses not to pursue them because everyone else is, as well
Love your reactions on Taylor Swift. On this album The song Margory it is about Taylor's Grandmother who was an Opera singer. Near the end Taylor put her Grandmothers Song singing back to her on the track. Beautiful. Taylor really puts her heart into that song.❤❤❤❤
Marjorie is about her grandmother, btw, who was an opera singer. In case you weren't sure about that song. :) She used a sample of her grandmother's vocals at the end when the song fades out.
I’m so glad I stumbled across your reaction videos! Folklore and Evermore are my two favorite albums from Taylor (and I have been a fan of hers from the very beginning when I first found her song Tim McGraw on RUclips!). Although now that her most recent album has come out, I can’t decide if it would go above folklore and evermore for my favorite or not. Anyways, love your reactions and the fact that you really gave Taylor a chance when you weren’t familiar yet and have come to appreciate her music!
Oh and I don’t know if I can pick just ONE favorite song off of this album, so my top 8, in no particular order, are: Tolerate It Willow Ivy Cowboy Like Me Champagne Problems Coney Island Evermore Tis the Damn Season
I'm late, but I think the part about tolerate it that hits me the hardest that a lot of people miss is whenever she's saying examples of her watching him, he's never looking back. He never looks at her. Never see's her, when all she see's is him. And every lyric after that just builds on this, everything she's doing is about him or for him, her entire world revolves around him, while his world is never about her. That's why the song starts with these simple lyrics and ends with them, because although they're simple they say everything without actually saying it directly.
This album is the sister album from folklore! All the stories that Taylor tell in both albums are mostly made up or inspired in books that she read. It’s different from her other albums where she tells personal stories rather than fictional. Midnights it’s more personal!
I really appreciate how open minded you are with music!! A lot of people who listen to different genres that taylor doesn’t make always have kind of a closed mind when it comes to her stuff. Really fresh to see someone with no prior folk music experience.
I agree, there’s a lot of music out there that gets missed or looked over….. like Dermot Kennedy “An evening I will not forget” beautiful lyrics painting a picture, it’s a really good intro into his style
For me, 'tis the damn season isn't about someone stringing her along or someone unwilling to put in the effort she's willing to put in. For me it's about two individuals who simply wanted different things. They both wanted each other but outside of that they didn't want the same things, she wanted to go and chase her dreams and he wanted to stay in his hometown. The line that really breaks my heart is "I won't ask you to wait if you don't ask me to stay," it really shows that she understands this is hard from both sides but this song is just a earnest plea to leave all of that behind, just for a weekend, and pretend that they aren't breaking each other's hearts. Btw, 'tis the damn season is a companion piece to Dorothea. The latter allows you to see the other side of the story: one of a man who's not even sure if the narrator in 'tis the damn season even thinks about him anymore now that she's gone and achieved the dreams she was chasing. Great reaction though! I appreciate the fact that you truly analyse what is being said, which is why I wanted to throw my two cents in there.
I remember my first listen through I didn’t love the middle of the album. But now, I LOVE every song. It’s a no skip album for me, truly a masterpiece. I don’t want to be annoying but I hope you listen to this again on your own time. It’s hard to compare evermore and folklore (or Taylor’s albums in general because as time goes by you hear little things differently or catch a lyric you missed before and it’s so fun to make connections) I wish you reacted to the bonus tracks. Right Where You Left Me is in my top 3 on evermore. My evermore top 5 - no order - willow, tis the damn season, ivy, cowboy like me, right where you left me If you’re going to react to All To Well (10 minute version) listen to the song with headphones first, with lyrics and the video AFTER! It’s hard to catch the lyrics when watching the video!
Loved watching your reactions to this! There’s also two bonus tracks for evermore, “right where you left me” and “it’s time to go” which are both really great songs in their own right and kind of present a “will you stay or will you go?” ending to the album
Well, you've done it again. Took your time to really listen to what she's saying. She's such a great storyteller, and it's fun watching someone new to her digest each story. Look forward to your next one with TS.
Folklore is a mix of "folk" and "lore" they are stories or traditions passed down through generations in a specific group of people usually by mouth. Like I imagine the old lady at a village telling stories around a camp fire.
I just found you because of your reaction to Midnights and I am loving your vibe! I also appreciate how you say when you don't really like a song; I personally think that it is rare for reactors to actually say they don't like a song and be that honest. I have loved Taylor Swift's music for over a decade and there are definitely songs of hers that I just don't really like so I like the honesty from you. Taylor is amazing but I don't think she bats 1000%. I hope that makes sense! I look forward seeing you react to more of her discography. Her Red album is my favorite so I can't wait to see that from you, if you do it! Have a great day. 😊
Marjorie is a tribute to Taylor’s grandmother. ❤ It’s such a beautiful song. If you get the chance to watch the accompanying video it has old home movies and photographs and it’s so touching. I also think she looks sooo much like her grandma!
I really appreciate the fact that you listen to the lyrics and respond to them when you have input. Many other react vids I've seen the lyrics just fly over their head most of the time
So glad to see you exploring her music so closely! A couple things to know about Taylor and her music.. track 5 is her most meaningful track on her albums, she is the bridge QUEEN, and folklore is not autobiographical but more of a fantasy album. (Betty, Cardigan & August are part of a trilogy that all connect.) She IS a mastermind. Love that you're doing this!!
I was in love with this album immediately. The title track Evermore tho…she had never clobbered me so hard. It’s grief of the deepest kind. I still fall apart when I listen to it & my mind still cycles thru the memories of losing my husband to suicide & how broken I was afterward. The fact I rent a cabin every year for our anniversary (even before the album) was just one of those details that is just beautiful.
'tis the damn season and dorothea are connected. 'tis the damn season is from the pov of a girl that leaves her town and becomes succesful but every holiday season she meets up with this guy who she likes but afraid to admit it to him because she thinks he doesn't like her like that. dorothea is from the pov of the guy who also likes her but thinks she's too good for him now that she's successful and works at the big city.
I’m out of Taylor Swift reaction videos from you after binge watching them while I sew 😂 Your interpretations of them are making me see different nuances to her lyrics and I love it!
Great reaction. I love how you pay attention to the lyrics. To me, tis the damn season is about this woman who has a guy she hooks up with when she’s home for the holidays, they have a connection and she could see them falling in love, but their lives are too different, so it’s only ever a seasonal encounter
Evermore (the song) and a lot of the sadness in this album and Folklore are about losing her music to her enemy. My Tears Ricochet for example isn’t about a relationship it’s about her manager of 15 years who stabbed her in the back. It was devastating for her. A lot of these that sound like breakup songs are about people involved in that. Mad Woman is about Scooter Braun for example. People think she only writes about ex boyfriends but not true at all.
Once again, you made my night and your reviews and reactions are so freaking great! Thank you for this review. Too many great things to list! "I f*ck with it" makes me smile! Please consider reviewing her album Reputation! It will blow your mind 🤯Her concert was the 💣 in 2018 and I will never forget it! After her being "cancelled" except for her lifer fans like me..she was out of the spot light for a while and came back ready! Taylor rises up and delivers some well deserved verses served up cold as ice. If you accept this challenge of Reputation, please consider reviewing her album 1989 soon after. PS - The song called Marjorie on Evermore is about her Grandmother who was an Opera singer. The high notes with Taylor towards the end is her Grandmother singing! How dope is that?! You have a fantastic personality and I hope you found a lucky lady and your both enjoying life. 💞✌️
The short film is great and really shows how well she can adapt her songs to visual media! I also think if you do another one of her albums Fearless (Taylors Version), her rerecorded 2ed album, would be so interesting as she wrote the songs when she was 16-18.
stop this is just what I was waiting for... just finished the folklore reaction and was hoping evermore would be posted... 37 minutes ago!! It's a sign to sub ! :D Today is also the second birthday of this album!
@@demetristate7515 I'm so happy I stumbled across your channel! I highly recommend checking out her short film for All Too Well 10 Minute Version (Taylor's Version), along with the entire Red (Taylor's Version) album, which includes her re-recordings of the original Red album and songs From The Vault (including the 10 Minute Version of All Too Well)! Edit: also just saw a comment recommending Folklore: Long Pond Sessions (on Disney+) and I cannot agree more!!
Marjorie is such a beautiful song when you know that it’s about her grandmother, who was an opera singer and passed before Taylor became famous. The high pitch background vocals are actually her grandma singing. Taylor can’t play the song live without crying
Evermore is a fan fave! But, these are mostly fictional stories, there are a few personal ones but along with Folklore, these are fictional stories. Keep in mind she isn’t trying to get over some guy from high school. She has been happily living with Joe for 6.5 years. She isn’t writing about any of her ex boyfriends on Folklore or evermore. Loving your journey. I hope you keep up with her discography. At least Red and Reputation.
It so crazy to me how evermore and Folklore were never planned or meant to happen and we have the pandemic to thank for that. She has given us 6 albums in a span of just over 3 years. She keeps us fed
Oh there are bonus tracks for evermore!!! Right before you left me is honestly one of her most relatable heartbreak moments. It’s time to go is so empowering too
So, there really aren’t any direct parallels between folklore/evermore and Midnights generally (except love songs about Joe ☺️, her boyfriend of 6 years, and a few about her hurt about record label issues). Folklore & Evermore are sister albums (dropped 6 mos apart and all songs are written and produced by same people). You should watch her Long Pond Studios session jn which she explains the meaning of every song on folklore to her collaborators before performing it live; then her interview with Apple (Zane Lowe) where she talks about Evermore and reflects back on what folklore is - spring/summer album about trying to resolve conflicts of all kinds; evermore is fall/winter and about all kinds of closure. She talks about the books & movies that she got inspiration for these songs and how she generally stepped away from being all personal songs.
There are a lot of connections to these 2 albums in Midnights and TTPD. Folklore & Evermore are albums when her long time friendship/situation ship with Matty Healey started picking up. Songs like The One, Ivy, Cardigan and lots more are about Matty. James is Matty, and I believe both Betty and August are Taylor. It’s all come together with TTPD. Example: Peter is a direct link to Cardigan (which she said was about Matty.)
Would’ve, could’ve, should’ve it’s a very personal song and it’s tied to dear John you HAVE TO check that out. It’s about an ex relationship with a famous singer 😮 lol
Evermore is the way she feels about her music being stolen from her and the way it happened and with all the people involved helping or not helping her when it all went down. its a very personal song.
Idk why they didn’t credit but in Cowboy Like Me the guy singing is the singer for Mumford and Sons. If you’re looking for more folky music I’d definitely listen to them!
If I see someone new to checking out Tay Tay I have to take a look cause I know after a few album reactions there's a chance of a new Swifty is fixing to be born! This the Damn Season and Dorethea are the girls version and the guys version of how the two feel about each other .She left hometown and became a big star but when she comes home they hook up like old times.
loved this one. it’s so good to see you appreciating her songwriting and storytelling. this is my favorite album by her. excited to see what you listen to next (red (taylor’s version) maybe?)
Ivy is such a beautiful song. Taylor used a lot of Folklore/Evermore to explore different facets of romance and relationships. Ivy is the story of a woman who’s falling in love with another man while married to a man she’s falling out of love with. Exploring that dynamic in this style is so rare and beautiful.
I also heard it's based on Emily Dickinson's love for her best friend who married Emily's brother. Taylor was featured on the Dickinson soundtrack, and they are 6th cousins.
I love watching you relate to Taylor. I hope to continue to watch you discover her and analyze and appreciate it all. Thank you again for paying such close attention to her pen game.
Something your not going to get without context. In my opinion, Closure is brilliant. It’s about her old label, Big Machine Records, and the previous owner who sold her masters. The strange sounds that go along with the piano, is meant to sound like a broken machine. I love the contrast it creates
That’s how I feel about My Tears Ricochet. The lyrics about Scott wishing she stayed (with his label), and how he hears her stolen lullabies when he can’t sleep (all of her songs he sold), and how he’s still wearing the same jewels she gave him at her funeral (he’s still benefiting from her and all the wealth he gained from selling her out). So good.
I love watching your TS reactions. Thank you for this . The 'what must it be like to grow up that beautiful' in gold rush sent everyone of us to places we never been, I saw that in you too😅 Looking forward to seeing more TS content from you, suggesting RED TV album next, or if it's a song All Too Well Ten Minute Version (fan favourite)
I love how you literally named HALF THE ALBUM as your favorites. Happy birthday to evermore! You’re definitely missing out on the two bonus tracks, I would click on that reaction video so fast. How do you feel about Halsey?
@@demetristate7515 Halsey is rad as fuck, and each of their albums just has a totally different feel. She has some insane lyricism, like Taylor, and really cool vocal tricks too. The production is vastly different on each album. Highly recommend Manic (very pop) and If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power (very alt rock). Looking forward to everything you have coming down the pipeline, for sure.
Would coulda shoulda ties to the song Dear John from speak now. This one I likely more about her last relationship with Joe. Even though she says is a fictional story.. we think that might not be 100% correct based on some tea that had recently come out.
tis the damn season and dorothea are connected, is the same story different perspectives and i think tolerate it is about her parents relationship but you also have to remember the mayority of songs on folklore and evermore are just made up stories with little bits of reality :)
DO REPUTATION!!!! 🐍🐍 One thing about this album is she went dark for a couple years and then dropped this album with zero explanation. "No explanation, just reputation."
I wasn’t sure if anyone left a comment on this but I just wanted to let you know that Dorothea is tis the damn season from the other persons perspective :)
Not having playlists is wild to me. You’re missing out on tens of thousands of views for no reason at all. Plus, Bon Iver is a band. Justin Vernon is the singer.

Would’ve, could’ve, should’ve it’s a very personal song and it’s tied to dear John you HAVE TO check that out. It’s about an ex relationship with a famous singer 😮 lol
You need to hear "right where you left me" it's a bonus track from evermore!
Evermore is the way she feels about her music being stolen from her and the way it happened and with all the people involved helping or not helping her when it all went down. its a very personal song.
Oh yes Demetrius, All Too Well - The 10 minute version for sure! 🔥
Idk why they didn’t credit but in Cowboy Like Me the guy singing is the singer for Mumford and Sons. If you’re looking for more folky music I’d definitely listen to them!
This album is full of great songs. Love your reaction, good job!
So excited you’re gonna react to All Too Well next! 😊 Can’t wait to hear your thoughts!
15:00 LOL Me at like 2am the night this album released. Cried myself to sleep lololol
You might call me crazy but I SWEAR Ivy is about Matty Healy. A lot of Folklore and Evermore and Midnights are.
YES to the closure, happiness analysis connection
Great insight linking tolerate it to would’ve could’ve should’ve
Low key needing a Dear John reaction
if you love lyricism i think you would really enjoy hozier!! Nina Cried Power is a great introduction but both of his full albums are a work of art :)
I loved your reaction. I felt all the feels with you. Everything you commented on my favorite songs was on point! I felt seen 🙏🏼
🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾
So good.
And, ladies and gentlemen, a swiftie is born✨
Are you going to react to all the Taylor’s albums?? You should. Taylor has very good music. I Really recommend you 1989!!!
I think I will eventually get to all of her albums
You should do Reputation or 1989 next!
2:35 yuh!! taylor respect my woman!!
Yeap that part hits 😂
love that u connect songs from other albums 🙏🏻
great vid! theres two bonus tracks btw, one of which is considered an absolute fan favorite:)
Google is your friend. 😅
Love all your reactions so far btw.
banger album fr
cowboy like me stans remain
i hope you react to evermore bonus tracks too
- right where you left me
- it's time to go
thank you!!!
I love how you literally named HALF THE ALBUM as your favorites. Happy birthday to evermore! You’re definitely missing out on the two bonus tracks, I would click on that reaction video so fast.
How do you feel about Halsey?
I’ll check them out & I think Halsey is dope even tho I only heard now or never. She also was fire on this song called “Damage” with partynextdoor
SUBSCRIBED. its about time for MIDNIGHTS ALBUM
Evermore is my favorite song of her
this is a very good album. ❤
You smart yo!! For you to get the accurate underlying meaning of these songs without knowing her entire discography
on evermore's birthday??? YESSS
tolerate it and cowboy like me just hurt so good. my favorite songs by her
Thank you so much for this review
I love your vibes
Would coulda shoulda ties to the song Dear John from speak now. This one I likely more about her last relationship with Joe. Even though she says is a fictional story.. we think that might not be 100% correct based on some tea that had recently come out.
I love how you skipped no body no crime 😭😭 same here sir
Also evermore was released 2 years ago today :)
Ig it was meant to be
This is Masterpiece
great song
tis the damn season and dorothea are connected, is the same story different perspectives
and i think tolerate it is about her parents relationship
but you also have to remember the mayority of songs on folklore and evermore are just made up stories with little bits of reality :)
DO REPUTATION!!!! 🐍🐍
One thing about this album is she went dark for a couple years and then dropped this album with zero explanation. "No explanation, just reputation."
I wasn’t sure if anyone left a comment on this but I just wanted to let you know that Dorothea is tis the damn season from the other persons perspective :)
I also wanted to add that j am really enjoying your reaction videos❤️
Not having playlists is wild to me. You’re missing out on tens of thousands of views for no reason at all.
Plus, Bon Iver is a band. Justin Vernon is the singer.
if you havent yet you should try some lana!!! NFR is my fav album
Dude you gotta listen to reputation next!!!! It's my boyfriend's favorite taylor album
you should give lana del rey a shot if you ever get the chance. preferably norman fucking rockwell it’s amazing. production and lyrics are top tier 😼
I love Lana de Rey. I haven’t listened to a full album of hers yet. Might dive in
@@demetristate7515 melodrama by lorde is also a beautiful piece of work one of my fave pop albums
I feel like gold rush has no bridge, but I get what you mean.
Apparently she. was drunk when she wrote ‘tis the damn season’’
reputation next !
Reaction red (taylor's version) please
Tolerate It… ❤️
Timestamps pleaseee 🥺
They are pinned at the top
