I loved him as a kid. Not so sure his humor would make me laugh so much now but he was one of the best shows on TV at the time. Man, he has really looked after himself health-wise. He looks great!
Lenny is a racist
Lenny Henry is one of my childhood heroes :) He, along with David Attenborough, David Bellamy and the tv series Monkey (with its Budhist teachings) were beacons of light in the 70s and 80s.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Exactly the same here!
Henry definitely wasn't a 'beacon of light' in the 80)# for anyone with any intelligence 😆
That dentist joke really killed me
Me too - it was funny
that one got me too
you're super cute
Killed the dog, too
I dont get it
A lot of people owe Lenny a lot. He broke through loads of barriers and gave my generation the best children TV decade. Thanks Lenny. You're the Don. Totally funny.
Lenny Henry is about as funny as council tax . Can’t think why they gave him a knighthood. Oh hang on a minute. Won’t be be watching that pile of lying drivel he’s written for itv either
I can't tell if your being ironic
@@gavinforsyth321or drunk😂
Which barriers? 😆 geezuz
Canadian, here. I first saw Lenny in Bernard and the Genie, then found his variety show. Chef is still one of my favourites.
Nice to know someone else on the planet has seen Bernard and the Genie! :)
First heard Lenny Henry tell these jokes in the 80s & every time I hear them, they crack me up 😂
this guy is the voice of the Shrunken Head from Harry Potter.
Ah yes, his finest moment (...)
I followed his trail from there ....
He was famous for lots more before that, boomer.
Hey guys why the long faces 🤣
blissismyname: thanks, nice to know. He has an inspiring story.
When your funny your funny. Memorable voices of the 70’s. Lenny your a legend
In he's own mind that is
@@KCC1956 that's why he's done so well for himself & raised millions for comic relief over the years. How much have you raised for charity? 🙄
And Lenny Henry isn't
I love that he's still got his Dudley accent.
And that's about all he's got
@@KCC1956 Poor Lenny
Such a great actor...love his series !
American here. Loved watching him in Chef! Could not get enough British television. So funny and relatable, even across the pond. 😂
I remember on The Lenny Henry Show, around 1984, he did a sketch on a train, with Adrian Edmondson doing a cameo as a "train nutter." At the start, Lenny says he is about to embark on one of the greatest train journeys in the world. Victoria to Brixton. On the way, he says the train is passing through Clapham. Which, he adds, in a good thing, as the train actually passes through Clapham :)
Zellweger both highly entertained and nonplussed she can't stop looking at Len!
Is that who that is
I always loved Lenny Henry as a kid. He still makes me laugh
Have you had a brain injury
I was 11 & was watching New Faces & saw a pram & a man in a raincoat, he was talking into the pram as Frank Spencer, then he turned around, the audience roared with laughter,, I will never forget my first time at seeing the very talented Mr. Lenny Henry. Totally memorable.
I remember it too
He was hilarious as Chef!
YES!
That Michael Crawford was so spot on 👌🏻
You look beautiful 😍
Lenny ! Flippin' love this guy - thick and thin x
Best part for me was when he did his Mom's accent. I love that accent. XD Is that Hatian?
Roku daime Jamaican! ♡
@@gretebremseth1622 Aha, I see! Thanks for clearing that up! ^^
@Tim Donovan hi I'm an American who knows who Lenny is
@Timbo Doonovan It's Jamaican. They speak French in Haiti probably because it is a former French colony. Unlike Jamaica. Perhaps ignorance held you back!!
@Timbo Doonovan my god man, you're a bit angry at something, aren't you?
I can remember Lenny doing this stuff on TV when he was 16. He was really good back then. Now that he has a deeper, adult voice, the impressions are even better. Great performer.
Im Asian, and I was hoping he would do his 'Yellow Face' character. He used to pull his eyes so theyd be slanty, and mock our accents. Cracked me up every time...........
His impression of his mother is my grandmother to a T. LOL
I had a drunken tube experience with "THE WOOD" man...he's rather quick...love him...
I went to the dentist and he said: "say ah!". I asked why and he said "my dog's dead" HAHAHAHA
Love him!!! He is so funny
His impressions of his Jamaican family, relatives, neighbours, these characters, he was educating me anyway on the background of some of my favourite athletes, actors, cimedians. Explaining how people from the West Indies came over to the UK to start a new life and help repair the country after the war. His Earls Court performance in 1989 was excellent, I was about 14 at that time, the VHS tape was in our house for years.
Coming from dudley up the road from me.. We used to see him in a pub on the dudley road.. Called the ship and rainbow.. Mid 70s
Lenny was so funny especially on TISWAS 😂😂😂
Totally
Used to kill myself laughing at his David Bellamy impression :D
I loved his early impression stuff on Tiswas. Always had me in stiches.
His cackle as the shrunken head in Prisoner of Azkaban makes me laugh every damn time
Good to see he is still our Lenny. Love him. Katanga my friend.
Awaa awaaa!
We used to shout that at other in the bloody street... You've now got me dodging traffic down memory lane
That's the first time I seen a Max Bygraves impression in a long-time.
LOVE these clips Graham!
Thanks for posting.
Chất lượng, Sỹ Luân chắc thích bản Cover này lắm này! Chúc mừng em cùng toàn thể Ekip F. Studio
Just seen Lenny as a judge on 'Great British Menu' and in the chat between courses, he said the his 'New Faces' appearance was in 1985! Just ten years out, Lenny 😆
Lenny is a legend. Love him.
Legend.
Lenny Henry is a very talented and likeable performer. Sometimes I wish he had better writers because there are times he had weak material which undermined his calibre as a comedian. But when his material is good, he's excellent. "Three of a Kind" was a real mixed bag, but "Chef!" was gold.
Ah, Sir Lenworth. Oooooooooookaaaaaaay! ❤️
Top man our lenny from the mad day's of the 1970'S including TISWAS 😊😊😊
He's so great lmao 😹
Weirdly, Lenny got his knighthood not for his entertainment work, but for services to barrel-making. Henry is one of the UK's foremost coopers, a dying art in this modern era. He once set a world record for the most barrels made by hand by one person in one day (46, in 2012).
When he makes barrels he prefers to the called Tommy
And still a boring irrelevant tw---at.. and there you go - life is full of them..
Henry was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 1999 New Year Honours. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the British Comedy Awards in 2003. He was knighted in the Queen's 2015 Birthday Honours for services to drama and charity.
@@niteblaster1Henry is about as funny as council tax . We all know why he got his knighthood
@rayfinkle2805 exactly, he was getting Pity laughs
This an outstanding show always -- but this episode ranks up top with the very best !
Lenny Definitely was the man I watched from tiswas on a Saturday.
You must have led as a sad life
Lenny Henry! Yes Chef! 🇮🇪
He can sing too. Kate Bush had him sing backing vocals on her song "Why Should I Love You"
And no wonder it flopped
@@KCC1956 Nothing Kate Bush does is a flop
@@mvellis3863
Are you joking
My bleedin dog screams better than her
its good to see Lenny Henry again
I can confirm that the dentist joke still very much works
No one remembers Max Bygraves now :/ I suspect it was only Graham who recognised Tommy Cooper as well.
@@semajttam is that who he was doing i thought it was Les Dawson
Such a Jamaican mother.....I immediately had a flashback
Lenny is the BEST!!!!
Legend
your great new children's book is amazing well done
I lived in England 1985-1990...Lenny Henry was one of my favorite comedians.
Chef! was my show. Wish I could find it.
Love this guy, he was a household name throughout the 80s and thoroughly deserved the knighthood. Legend.
@Beany 57 Well they won't take it back. Deal with it. Or not. Either way he's been knighted and shall remain that way.
@Beany 57Why is he an idiot?
@Beany 57There's only one of your comments on this thread. But, fair enough. Not read much about him lately.
He didn't make my radar here in America where we only had Dr Who and Monty python... but I'm looking him up on youtube
Omg, until the end of the video I thought Louis Theroux was Steve Carell
Love Len
Reminds me of the voice of the crab from "Little Mermaid. "
Những ca sĩ khác cho mình cảm giác thư giãn khi nghe! Còn ĐP luôn cho mình bị cuốn theo tinh thần bài hát.
Mannnnnnn. That's CHEF!
Lenny “The legend” Henry!!🖖🏿
Don't forget the Chinese guy from Tiswas!
Lenny, you're fantastic!!!!
Before I post my comment I would like to state that my ethnicity is Indian. I am 48 years old, I remember watching Lenny Henry on TV back in the late 80’s and early 90’s; my opinion of him back then was that he isn’t particularly funny for someone who is a professional comedian. I also noticed back in the late 80’s how white members of the audience used to laugh at LHs jokes in a not so sincere way, as he wasn’t that funny; but because there was a lot of racism back then, the good white people felt it necessary to be encouraging to LH by laughing his jokes. By the way I don’t dislike LH as a person.
Yes Chef!
Grew up watching Lenny on Tiswas oooooooohh.....kaaaaaaaaaaaayyyy haha we we're all doing it at school eh.
De bread and the condensed milk
Lenny was in my sisters class at school and and Johnny Johnson was in my class at school and my best mate and then his sister Dee Johnson was in my brothers class, who you might ask.. they both where band members of Simply Red lol sorry this is my claim to fame lol.
Even though Simply Red is a Manchester band and Lenny is from Dudley? That’s a long commute for one of you each day.
@@MrQwerkafleeg John & Dee Johnson also come from Dudley. Band members of Simply Red
that was brilliant hahaha :D
"Go on, name me one funny black British comedian" Rick Gervais.
What a legend
I remember the Lenny Henry Show here in the States, when I was young. Great comedian! 😄
Yeah it was a great show, he was good on 3 of a kind with Tracey Ullman before that.
1 word: DONOVAN!
The comment most people don't know they need to know! "Ms. Johnsoon!"
Should have done David Bellamy: Gwapple me gwapenuts.
Could Delbert Wilkins come back ❤
The Lenny Henry show 😊I miss it
The late Bob Willis was basically the Brummie Max Bygraves.
Definitely a Jamaican Mother.
Can someone tell me what did the short, old military guy say to Lenny when he was about to be knighted? I didn't get that last line... 🤦🏻♂️ Thanks!
@Lee Thanks for explaining that mate! You're awesome..I did hear something about premiering and wasnt sure if that made sense..😂
The possibility of wood!😆😂😝🤣
I am going to see Sir Lenny in November 2019 this'll be my 3rd time..the 1st being 1984..guess I'm a stalker >.
Hmm, in 1984, once again after, and soon again in 2019?
3 times in 35 years ...Definitely semi-stalkerish.
LOL!
He is hilarious 😂
❤❤❤❤❤❤
His Tommy Cooper is brilliant.
He's the guy who said Africa don't need white saviours, what a pick
Pick?
It's still bloody funny
I will never forgive him for insisting that CBeebies viewers call him “Sir Lenny.”
"Ooooooooooooookaaaaay!"
The Voice Of Big & Small
it is indeed
2:16 I don't understand a ploughman's lunch was he meant to say he was Furious or it was Furious I'm confused if anybody in the future could ever explain this to me it would be highly appreciated thank you.
it's a play on the name of a pub lunch (Ploughman's lunch) as opposed to a lunch owned by a Ploughman... which was just stolen (by the teller of the joke).
I think his Trevor McDonald was one of his best.
Let's see him try Winston Churchill them
Chef was a great show.
Nobody I talk to seems to remember this but I am quite sure he used to be in a weekly sitcom called The Fosters. My sister and I thought he was hilarious in it...Can anyone else remember this programme?
There's a wikipedia page on it. So it existed and he was in it.
Yes they show it on sky
A legend
I like that he has to contextualize the impressions for the young people.
Not just wonderful but also ... amazing!
I back watching Tiswas
Who remembers the Steve Martin whiteface impression ?
the man😎👍🏽
Brilliant
you are the most talentist and funniest person on tele ever x
Love Sir Lenny Henry.
