Cuz the singer always showboat and tryna be virtuosic.

Maaan I went to a church one time and I was the only white guy there. There was a very old piano there and this guy made the most beautiful awesome music that I ever heard come out of it. It consumed me and I could feel the Lord in there.
That's great. I remember going to a small black church in west Texas while I was in college, and they had guest musician. He was a white organist, and he had a long beard with a "hippy look." It caught everyone by surprise because it looked like Jesus Christ was on the organ.
Dude, black churches absolutely kill it. The amount of spirit and soul invested into the music they create is one of my favorite things about that church culture.

I played in a black church for the last 13 years, retired in Feb. The only gospel I knew before I started was two Billy Preston songs on the radio, some things Richard Tee played on, but mainly the old Ronco Record commercials of gospel singers from the '60s. I could listen to the songs they wanted for that week and learn them, but it never was my native style since I grew up playing classical, rock and prog, pop, country, alt etc. Anyway, you should do a white guy trying to cover gospel. The pastor had a vision for multi-race church, and I also served as the children's pastor which I loved. They were so patient with me, but I am sure I seemed like an alien from, I don't know, wherever Frazier and Niles Crane come from or something. It was a great 13 years though! But I am sure they were thinking sometimes, well bless his heart...
Every Sunday when I lived in Philadelphia this one Church was always on FIRE belting out that organ, lol

There is always that one person in church who has to sing and can't stick with a key for 2 seconds.
Inenchurch we went to was so small that my dad was the only instrument. That being a guitar. It always fun watching him struggle when the same person every week came up to sing. They wanted him to play, but they felt they could write songs and made it up as they went along. Poor Dad just struggled not wanting to hurt his feelings.😂😂
They never end it either -- just try to keep it going!!

My church band is the best in the ATL! The keyboardist is a master of the keys! He is "OLD FASHION" when there's an old gospel song the pastor wants the church to sing, he knows it immediately and starts playing! And he's an "ORGANIST" He's amazing at the keys but astonishingly great at the organ!
He is the fastest "KEY FINDER" who always gets the RIGHT KEY in two seconds flat! And he is one of the best "MAESTRO" in the city!

You reminded me of the time the other keyboardist in my church started playing the theme to X-Men during offering. Another time he played the Super Mario theme from the underground levels during a praise break. I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing. 😂😂😂😂

I'm not African American, but I used to attend Black churches and used to play on their worship teams as a bass player. I have seen and played with EVERY SINGLE one of these piano players as well as every single one of the drummers just like his other video! 🤣😂😂🤣 It's all TRUE! It brings back a lot of fun and hilarious memories!! The best part was when the service would get really "turnt", a bunch of ladies would come up to the front and start stepping! That was really cool to see!
