    There's nothing dangerous about starting the engine when it's cold that's what they're designed to do

    I'm used to it up here in Massachusetts but i still hate the cold! In 2015 we had 108 inches, It was awlful, never thought it would melt!

    Hey brother honestly I own a 01 damn near same i start mine in the negatives with out it being plugged in it was dead dormant for weeks so block was solidly frozen pluged batterys in and it started in 3 cranks 7.3s are gods no need to play it out like its a test for the truck mine also has 267k on just in case

    Use some archoil every oil change and she’ll start so much faster and no smoke.. and your injectors will thank you later.. just fired mine right up yesterday at 3 degrees.

      I've been using hot shot stiction eliminator in the oil and everyday diesel in the fuel, mine started in -1 temps this morning no issues. I've always wanted to try Archoil but the cost has been a bit hard to swallow haha

    Ahh I wear shorts until we hit below zero. OK I always wear shorts. My 7.3 has never not started from zero on up. Getting the doors open is another story! Nice truck brother!

    We cold started a old Detroit in a 1969 359 Pete and that sum bitch smoked us out of the shop took an hour just to clear the smoke out of the shop my buddies dad didn't have a heater in his shop

    Off question: I just got a 2000 7.3. It’s running fine and all but when I crank it the the oil light stays illuminated a couple seconds afterwards. Is that normal? I’m new, sorry…

    Here in Toronto we've been through a mad cold spell. Overnight lows around -15F every night for like 3 weeks & got about 3 feet of snow in the meantime. And guess what, our trucks are made for this s*it #gowinter

      7.3, start at 15 below no block heater... if you put fuel additives to keep it from turning to gel....

      There’s a company in Alaska I was told a few weeks ago. But it gets pretty cold in Alaska. Due to this, this company first ever really shut there truck engines off. So they buy whatever 7.3 engines they can find, rebuild them so they can run them in their trucks. Point is apparently they are good trucks. Especially for running for such a long time in the cold!

    New 6.7... won't start in the cold. Dead batteries that won't charge. Dead starter dealer replaced it. They're too stupid to replace the batteries which are ruining the starter solenoid. Not enough juice in the weak factory batteries to warm the glow plugs in cold weather. All under warranty but will have to start fixing things out of pocket it I don't want to get stranded more.
