    Great video, just went back to rugby at 46 and need to work on my speed, will try what you guys say, but the parallel squat better for your knees is rubbish. Parallel is where the shear forces are higher in the knees, not a problem going past. The only two items I would recommend for squatting properly, angle your feet wide and ensure that your knees are lined up with your feet, as lack of alignment is what is most likely to hurt your knees; and don't go ass to grass, you lose the bounce.

      Thank you for your thoughts and kind words! As NASM-CPT I do have to say it can be much more complex than what you describe. What works for some in a squat may not work for others. Two things are certain, the mobility of an athlete plays a part in the range of motion he/she should use in any particular exercise, and there are certain angles of muscle modalities that exert the most force.

      Hell yea I got burned only once by this dude that is 6’0 and 11 years old while I was 4’8 but I was the first to catch an interception in my entrie league I got the award best defensive player of the year Again so I’m lifting weight to the next season to be ready to go wish me luck god bless everyone💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾

    That explains a lot as to why my kid has fluctuating times when speed training.
    Some of the things you did are similar to when we’ve had our best times.

    I play safety so sideline to sideline speed is crucial. Currently in the 40 I run a 4.56 trying to get that 4.5 flat and maintain my current weight as well at 223 lbs 6ft hopefully these exercises help. Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.

      Coach placed me at middle linebacker, totals so far (through 3 games) 22 picks , 19 sacks, 112 tackles, 110 TFL and 38 pass defenses. Maybe I should switch cause I don't think I'm cut out to be a MLB

      we played the best team in the state of florida and got stomped, since it was a jamboree, our coaches let all the second string players play (most of them have never played before). the score was 41-0

    Im 5'6 160 pounds and somewhat strong (as in stronger than some people but weaker to others so like right in the middle)
    I play linebacker and right guard as of 2 days ago for high school practice, last year I played wide receiver and cornerback, this year 9 out of 10 linebackers are taller and stronger than me and usually overpower me, any tips?

      The Moose late reply I know but I'm a safety and cornerbacks have similar goals as we do. first off get your vertical jump higher, put weight on your ankles and start jumping, lift some weights because going against wrs or tes is a tough job. and last get your speed up.

    Hello I'm worried because I'm 14 and I'm joining my high school football team and I'm not fully developed when it come to my height (I'm pretty small I haven't started growing yet) so I've heard that doing weights can be bad for your growing and if I do weight or things of the sort I will stop growing or grow much less?       So the whole weight training stunts growth thing isn't true. Just be careful and lift with proper form and fuel yourself with good foods. So lift with good form and eat plenty and healthily.

    Awesome I mean I didn't know about the stretches that some can cool you down but in the muay thai I train in we always do side to side and forward and back and the Ali Shuffle that's what we normally call them.. When you guys did number 2

      If you're a boxer, you definitely have some quick hands. I say you should gain a little more size and play defensive end. If you're fast, strong, and most importantly, have amazing quick hands to slap the offensive lineman's hands down, jam him, push him back, put a swim move on him, you'll be great.

      Michael Stokes work on your backpedaling, and being able to get sideline to sideline. Focus on tackling and being able to tackle in space. Be able to tackle and cover, you might have to play man, cover 3, cover 2. Whatever your team runs. If you get the chance before games study film, study receivers and what teams run out of certain alignments. Know your assignment as a safety, who you have if you're playing coverage etc,

      Work on speed and don't let any receiver get behind you, and make sure to cover your Corner back at ALL times, and lift some weights for strength as this is TRULY NECCESSARY for a safety😉

      Michael Stokes safety is much technique, but you need basics like speed and you gotta be willing and able to tackle, work on the technique in your free time, there are many videos on youtube with technique workouts. Watch film on safeties, Brett Kollmann does Film Room videos on youtube, they discuss alot of technique and they are very informative saying what the player does good and what he needs to do better..

      Michael Stokes Stay in shape!! Over the summer, run 1 mile in one session so when football actually starts you won't be gassed out or slow. Do the mile or whatever everyday you possibly can. Work on footwork and backpedaling
