From what I understand is he came to understand that white liberals weren't who they pretend to be. They acted like we needed to wait, it's not time yet sort of thing. He believed in equality. But his eyes got opened about how the so called progressives weren't really with 100% equality. That being said we dropped the ball and didn't keep the pressure on. We let up and now here we are! We are a people who can't NEVER AFFORD to let up on ANYTHING we want or our "expectations."

Without the ability to access the courts “Black Wall Streets” can be taken away when desired. Many Judges are elected so comes the power of politics. Lastly, Being able to take my 79 yr old mother to a state ran rest stop is what many have labeled as integration. Understanding what those before us went thru with humility is key 🔑

I would characterize it differently, I believe (I could be wrong) he realized integration was not weighted appropriately in relation to other key factors needed to deliver us to the promised land. #Blessings

    • @SmartDave60
      @SmartDave60 4 года назад +10

Integration should have started from the top down versus from the bottom up.
For example the school administration should have been integrated first, THEN you bring in the kids.
And imagine instead of Major League Baseball integrating just black players instead integrating black franchises and maintain black ownership.
The KC Monarchs are recognized as equal to the NYY.
      That’s how you integrate.

This is what conversations used to sound like when I was a child. It was inspiring. This is food for the soul. Dr. Carr surrounded by books that he retrieves without effort to make his points. The joy and excitement he has to educate is awesome. If you are a parent of young children this is something they must, I do mean MUST watch. It is a free education that the Kardashians and Cardi B can't give. It is a must watch for all of us. The importance of our vote is expressed with history and a clear look at the future. The consequences of not voting are dire.

I am a public school teacher. I think everyone should teach their own at least (especially former enslaved and other people of color) until children are past the third grade so they can have a solid foundation of who they are. Then later you can introduce children to other people and cultures. Remember after Brown vs. The Board of Education was used to fire many black teachers(educators) and whites were encourage to teach black students.

Even the protesters here over the weekend were screaming at each other - 'get out of my neighborhood' points to a class problem. That's something I've been saying for a long time, because you can see it if you pay attention on the street. And we have to remove it from the more important vision of finally getting something done, while we have this momentum. The worse thing in the world for Black folk right now is to let the momentum die over B.S. I salute you and Dr. Carr for making it plain as possible, with background to prove the point!

Thank you, Thank you Thank you!! This is the very conversation I have daily with more progressive left leaning folk in Indiana. But often I find they are offended by the notion of looking at the bigger picture and the long game versus their specific issue with a candidate. We should all know by now there is such thing as the perfect candidate. We live in such an instant world that the assumption tends to be significant societal change can happen quickly. When has a change of that magnitude ever happened quickly without setting up the team, and negotiating an outcome? Man this was food for the political mind!

When the two of you get together it's truly "Higher Learning". I purchase at least 3 books per episode.

As a fellow TSU alumni, let me say this was one of your best classes ever. We as a black people need to start looking at the whole picture and 10 yrs down the road, like they do. You can have different ideas but we need to be about the same cause.

Today, I look forward to class more than I ever did when I was in school. Each class get better than the one before. I find myself going back to previous conversation base on a current event that occurs that requires me to think analytically and strategically about how I move forward in my world, how view others around, and what's their underline motivation for doing, say and being in my space. I absolutely appreciate the love you bring to our people. Without knowledge of self we accept what is given rather than what needed to nourish our minds, body, and souls. Thank you!

I love these Saturday classes. Learn so much and I have so many books to add to my library.
I remember thinking my vote didn't matter even though I still voted and had a hard explaining to someone who felt the same way and didn't vote. Now between listening to you and Roland Martin Unfiltered I've learned voting is a tool to get things done but it doesn't end there. Agitation is a must.
2nd we as African American people are not monolithic but we all can agree important things such as equal distribution of resources and equality.
Black Media, churches, schools and communities are keys that I believe if we keep digging and mining will be foundational to power and organization to make demands which leads a 3rd point.
I believe as African Americans, Afro-latin, Afro-asian, etc of the diaspora should reach out connect within and beyond the borders of America. Dr. Carr made an excellent point of that today. Technology makes it possible today for us to reach out and connect.
God Bless you Prof. Karen. Continue with all your strength for He is with you
