A record label representative says Tony Joe White, the country bluesman and hit songwriter behind such successes as "Polk Salad Annie" and "Rainy Night in Georgia," has died. He was 75.

Shelby Lynne (born Shelby Lynn Moorer, October 22, 1968) is an American singer and songwriter and the older sister of Allison Moorer. The success of her pop rock album I Am Shelby Lynne (1999) led to her winning the Grammy Award for Best New Artist (despite being her sixth studio album). She released a Dusty Springfield tribute album called Just a Little Lovin' in 2008. Since then she has started her own independent record label, called Everso Records, and released three albums: Tears, Lies and Alibis, Merry Christmas, and Revelation Road. Lynne is also known for her distinctive contralto voice.

This guy wrote so many truly great songs.Quality not the usual standard formatted songs.Why did he just not get the recognition that he truly deserved?

Cannot underplay this guys talent.Bought his music from Day One until the end and was privileged to have seen him perform live in London 8 times.Just loved his originality.Nobody,but nobody,writes lyrics like Tony Joe White.

He was a fine blues and rocker, but the radio stations didn’t give him proper airplay.
He was big in the 1960s and 1970s. In today's music blues is feeling sorry for yourself.
