Since most players use Elytra there isn't much of a need to have a walkway, but just in case a glass block scattered path could be used. Yeah we were all thinking that Jevin made yet another mistake with the redstone of his music players but in truth Bdubs broke it before xB could hear it. Poor Jevin unjustly clowned upon by chance.
The scaffolding looks like pontoon bridges. Hå long bay (hellscape edition) feels like it would beautifully support the trading and transport vibe. It would uses the cliffs and rocks to enclose the whole area, while keeping the portals accessible. You’d have merchant ships and spice trader vessels and armour stands around the shopping portal. Each hermit could decorate their portal with a nod to their permits.
For the nether hub: a dark and moody forest with huge trees. The stems so high that you can barely see the top. Or: huge cave with stalagmites and stalactites. Moody but colorful because of all the minerals. Both concepts would embrace the chaos. Can't wait to see what you're coming up with; what you've done to XBs base was wonderful!
Seeing xb get a bit emotional about the dog house just goes to show just how much thought you put into this project bdubs. Well done ol boy, well done.
For the nether hub… since all the portals are pretty much at the same Y axis, instead of making a “building”, I think you should make some sort of custom biome (to your choosing). Then all the portals can rest on the land and each person can customize their own portal if they choose to.
One thing I would love to see Mojang do with bees is auto breeding the way villagers do. So, if there's space in the hive and at least two of them, there's a chance they'll breed.
For the nether hub, you could lean into the aesthetic that the scaffolding is already achieving. That isn't to say just make it out of scaffolding, but it could be a series of ramshackle/rickety walkways. I feel the colour of the haze could lend well to this also.
Birch logs, diorite, a temple -like structure coming up out of the bedrock. Make a gorgeous thing out of the most hated blocks in the game, centered on whichever hermit hates it the most! The others might be more willing to volunteer next season... They could be "inspired" by some passive (aggressive) lessons in building.
Love everything you make bdubs, only thing I can think of to help the forest is to remember that nature was their first, then then buildings came along, maybe some tree stumps where you needed to clear space for projects or resources, as always keep up your masterful work!
I'm actually building a tree as I'm watching this video. I've been following Grian's branch rule, Bdubs' block use, etc. I think it's looking neat so far :)
Ohh and the pickle fiend Pearl with her trees, Keralis and Gem's palm trees (i'm building some myself inspired by them), Ren with his alien flora, so much cool treeificating this season it's awesome
for the nether hub, you could treat it as a biome with boardwalks maybe, rather than a large structure with walls? like there could be different trees and plant life, with the scaffolding being replaced by raised boardwalks, and each portal being a point of interest/some plant or structure that represents the hermit it belongs to. If you really wanted to wall it in you could make sort of a glass greenhouse around it
with the nether hub, you have a cool permanently red sky you can utilize that no other builds really can. i'd keep it open to the sky and maybe find blocks the look good with that, go for a really bleak ruins theme maybe
Something like he and Cleo had going last season or his forgotten elf lands on his world. could be fun to fly around the broken pillars or fallen statues to get from portal to portal
I think that's a good call. Just leaning into the limitations instead of trying to fight them. Honestly I think even just replacing the existing scaffolding with half slabs and cohesive stairs to the floor would be a nice improvement. Subtle changes can work wonders like that
Hey, I agree with grian that it doesn't need to be changed much. The way it is with the scaffolding it almost looks like a bamboo village on stilts, I'm thinking ewoks village from Star Wars. Maybe just add some different flooring over the bedrock and lean into the bamboo bridges, some plants could also be spawn proof
Bdubs, that garden transformation in Xb's place was amazing. I am in constant awe of how you paint with blocks in this game, it's so mesmerizing and inspiring! I absolutely loved the little garden workbench area by Bishop's house... And oh how we all felt for xB when he saw the home for his special boy. Our pets really are so beloved and incredible. Thanks so much for sharing all you do with us!
this might be my favorite bdubs'-builds-for-another-hermit build. Beating out, I think, a couple of my other faves - the Grian upside nether mansion interior and Lamps Plus in S7. :)
Regarding the nether hub, my suggestion would be like an nether themed japanese garden, with trees, "greenery", "ponds", bees, etc.. and the portals could be like sculptures scattered around.
OK, so a nether build I was always super impressed with is the spooky forest that Tango built in season 3. Maybe it was extra impactful because it was early in my minecraft life but I have always been very obsessed with the idea of bringing the overworld to the nether. Theese days there are also lots of ways of doing it spawnproof, like moss carpet, path blocks, brown carpet and ofcourse lots of new stairs and slabs. Would love to have a forest and mountains up on that nether roof.
I just lost my dog this year, and seeing how touched xB was made me tear up a little thinking about my girl. That was really thoughtful of you, BDubs. I'm sure it meant a lot.
😂 That nether hub, with those criteria, makes me think … moonscape … craters, divots between portal groups … especially since there’s no point in a nether hub on the roof of the nether.🤷♀️ 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
BDUBS!!! You are too humble!!! XB's garden is one of the most gorgeous builds I've seen, it's really inspired me to work on a garden of my own. Plus your new trees! You said "they're just a small thing" but they truly took the forest from an immersive build on the inside to one fully situated in your base on the outside. The way the trees taper off in size and your silos are perfectly tucked away inside of them is awe inspiring and completely immersing. Keep up the amazing work, you're truly an artist.
Who wants to do the Nether hub? Bdubs, you despise the Nether so much that it is a chore for you just to get into the Nether. You want to tackle this enormous and tedious task? Bdubs: Only if Skizz can be my gopher. Skizz: Hot-diggity, I'm in!
44:43 that angle of the mountain makes it look like a chess piece king with his cape and arms outstretched underneath a little. Maybe needs a bigger head, or a head period? Hey, how about giant chess pieces striding across the great plains?
He's talking about daylight, not block light. He mentioned that block light has to be above 0, or block light can be 0 and daylight is above some larger value. Daylight levels on the surface are still greater than zero even at night, so if mobs needed 0 daylight to spawn, you wouldn't get mob spawns at night.
@@zamarion101 Wrong. At night they spawn at sky light level 7 if no light from a torch or other block is around. Sky light and block light have different spawn rules. Otherwise hostile mobs literally couldn't spawn on the surface.
I love seeing all the "nether garden" ideas in the comments! I will add on them by suggesting people take a look at the Phoenix AZ botanic garden's collaboration with Chihuly (the glass artist). The mix of natural pattern and texture with the alien color and form of the glass is breathtaking.
Imagine if Mr. Rogers yelled about not being short, hates things with a "flaming, fervent passion," and spent 70% of the time talking in mangled gibberish. It'd sort of be great.
Regarding the Nether hub, the scaffolding gave me an idea of a sort of ruined fortress/temple feel with elevated bridges over a floor of nether bushes and shrubbery.
For the nether hub the first thing that comes to mind with how sporadic and windy the nether portals are placed are tree roots. Could do a giant nether tree and the portals are on top of or in the roots. Then the canopy of the tree can frame/envelop the nether hub but still keep that open easy to access portals. Or could do windy tunnels in the ground under the tree with the portals in. I think the nether leaf blocks aren't spawnable but you would have to check
I never get when people hate one block's texture so vociferously. I appreciate that some blocks are lacking in versatility to the point that they rarely get used, but there's a context for every block.
Something Greek inspired could be beautiful. Like, heavy greenery and white pillars. Little designs on monuments for the portals. Maybe even fake glass water places. With the red nether sky it could feel apocalyptic almost, and would allow the hermits to fly around without a ceiling
For the nether hubs: I feel like an open landscape would be better than a big building (like we've seen in the past seasons). But whatever you do, I know it'll be gorgeous (like todays build)
i can already hear it now “I HATE THE NETHER!!!!” but in all seriousness, i could totally see you making a little town square as the nether hub, with streets, small whimsical buildings, maybe some prehistoric megafauna? definitely lots of space to easily traverse between portals
I love this idea! esspecially if he could play into a recently abondon town type vibe, where the people had to run away because of a volcano eruption. That would be a good way to "explain" the particle effects in the nether!
50:26 a large open black concrete void box, black glass on the bottom with black concrete to create a pitch black effect. Little islands for each portal and a step stone path between the islands. In the sky you could add cool creatures or more tropical floating island/ mountains with vines linking them
Oh, the glass water effect with the hoppers, that slight gradient, is so so good! I also especially loved the fading transitions during the timelapse, and I've never thought to use the big pots hanging either like you did with the cherry leaves. Overall what a lovely, lovely garden!
For the nether hub, since everyone is flying around, maybe tie important visual information into the floor. Lights/lines leading to far portals, platform color code-ordinating with portal type. (base, common area, etc.) With having no ceilings or walls to keep it open, make a few vertical landmarks that draw the eye to help orient yourself when you hop out of a portal and instantly start flying off.
29:06 I think changing to an actual thin wood branch, tipped with leaves, poking out from the lower, sun-starved floor rather than just puff balls, would more represent an ancient tree trying to burst its confines.
For the hub. Make a lake, blue blocks coverd be glasblocks. The portals all on their little islands with wooden walkways and bridges. Can put in a lot of greens in that way as well.
Something that could be cool, for the nether hub, would be like a big forest with custom, personalized trees that each of the Hermits' portals could be inside
ohmygod i still cannot get over how beautifully the top of those trees were done. the way it makes it feel like the sun is rising *chefs kiss*. Also the garden transformation was breathtaking. ahh i cannot wait to see the full background of mountains behind the house after walking through the trailhead!! ☠
also when scar finishes his forest, it'll be such a stunning play on depth perception with them being fogged out in the background, the coexistence of your bases will be unmatched
That trick of sticking redstone torches under trapdoors to prevent the buttons and pressure plates from triggering them? *Pure genius.* I happen to be building an office at the moment. I've been using gates with pressure plates on top for desks, and adopting this strategy fixed the issue of the desks breaking every time I jostled them. Thank you!
Regarding the nether hub, given the raw and scattered atmosphere of the place, I would really aim for an open build. You could leave it as an open space, and create a desert-like field of rolling hills made out of slabs, with a portal (or several ones) on top of each hill. This would take advantage of the unorganized allocation of portals, and make it feel natural. Also, the structure would be fully walkable, easy to oversee and you would not have the logistical (and potentially bad looking) problem of connecting everything through intricate structures. The landscape could be crisscrossed with small paths, and filled with tiny whimsical structures, artworks or vegetation (or could be left empty for a brutalist wasteland-like vibe). You could also consider to build a large overarching hall or dome, if the nether skybox does not suit the build.
That was very sweet of you to add the doghouse for Bishop. As someone who lost a pet recently after many years it is the small things that count. And your handling of the reveal was quite sensitive and caring. Didn't expect to get feels from a Minecraft build collab video today, but thank you for this.
Ok two more things beyond my first gush about the thumbnail beauty: 1. Learned to use coral in a planter with the slabs 🎉 2. Learned about using item frames in pots for your own designs 🎉 Looove it!
For the nether hub, maybe a massive space with a vaulted ceiling, like the inside of a cathedral? Leaves things open, minimal upward-facing blocks, and the red fog would give a real sense of distance and make the space feel even bigger! P.S. Great relaxing video, just what I needed after a hard day of work
Absolutely sobbing at Bdubs' addition for Bishop + XB getting emotional over it. Such a touching and thoughtful addition to the build even if it seems small 😭
And with that. Bdubs has done it again. Don't even need more than the thumbnail to know, *this man really is the greatest Minecraft player.* And he's just such a FUNNY GUY! He does the goofy voices and the "dadism" words *I WISH I COULD DO!*
I actually envision the nether hub as a space similar to the docks in Yume Nikki. With black stained and tinted glass, you can create dark, murky waters and have lampposts to brighten the area. It also serves to mask the bedrock, maybe adding black concrete below would also help? You could even pop in some islands in between large gaps. Dunno how you’d handle the red fog of the nether with that, but that was my first thought.
I think it would be very entertaining to see Bdubs host a HGTV-esque home renovation show with the hermits Also, the nether hub being a maze would be hilarious.
For nether hub, Cub made a really elaborate mosaic floor design in his pyramid, very large scale and good for an open viewing area. Maybe something like that for flooring and then arched dome ceiling? Or leaving it open to the red sky, and each portal has a small dome-archway-gazebo-thing that distinguishes whose it is but leaves it open to get to from all angles.
An idea for the Nether Hub: I agree with Grian. Make it an open space, something like one of those central maps from shooter games, like Quake or Unreal Tournament. Almost like what you did for xBCrafted - open, tall spaces with highs and lows, and maybe some pillars where people can freely fly, climb, and explore
Alright Bdubs, here's my ideas for the Nether Hub: - Train Stations/Airports: Have you played mini motorways or have you seen the London Tube maps. Should be somewhat simple but you could make each portal have it's own little airport or station. - The Brain Neurons: Hermitcraft is one mind full of creative neurons. Take mumbo's 'Mined' as inspiration and build a brain of portals. - The Circuit Board: Portals are light bulbs and power sources and the pathways are the wires. - Dungeons and EnderDragons: Go full Castle/Dungeon hallways with low lamp light and Doom vibes. - Creaking Kingdom: Stick to the grey scale only and create something with some of the new blocks available with a Creaking centre piece Hope that gives you some more ideas to think about.
Nether hub suggestion: the red haze could read as a red sky sunset. The almost catwalk system you folks have going on could be transformed into a boarwalk. Perhaps a moody, romantic boardwalk at sunset over a few layers of blue glass for the ocean? Love ya work, Mr Dubs.
another amazing bdubs build! Laughed so hard at the glazed terracotta placing XD also rlly rlly love the terracotta block mixed in with the pots to add some hue/color variation! It works so well that I didn't even notice until it was pointed out
The nether reminds me of an archeological dog site. Lots of ruins/buildings in a pattern that's not immediately obvious because it's not complete. Walkways like what they already have over the top. ❤
The current layout of the “nether hub” sort of reminds me of going to the shopping mall. The long hallway of scaffolding, all on one level and the portals like the shops you enter. You are brave for taking on this project. Can’t wait to see how it comes together.
Maybe it's just that you also did a wonderful garden for XB, but the Nether Hub feels like it should be some sort of large space-themed greenhouse/dome. As if it's a pod on Mars that is sustaining life but in the Nether. I think it would be an interesting challenge for your building style and would fit in with your dislike of the nether for being unsafe. Thanks for the excellent episode Bdubs!!
I love seeing so much care and so much heart going into a hired renovation. And botanical interiors are my favorite, so this was just a great episode for me overall. Love love love it
Beautiful work as always. I cried when xB saw Bishop’s doghouse. I’m a dog person who has had 3 dogs cross the Rainbow Bridge (at 10, 10, & 13.5 years old). It is always rough, but Bishop was so young. xB & Ferks shared their journey from the puppy search through Bishop’s passing & many people were touched by his short life. Thanks for honoring him and our love for our canine family members.
Also, regarding the nether hub - I think it would be very fun to incorporate wind charge flight launchers like the one Cub showed you recently, and lean hard into that flying-friendly design principle as well as the current update. It might even be a way to incorporate elevation changes with platforms or towers in the space between connecting paths to allow folks to launch up or glide, and decor that is more about giving directions or indications of what else is outside the main hub on the roof (like all the carpet paths etc.)
Immediate idea for the nether hub I think of a contraption connecting all the portals like monsters inc. and the moving doors. Then each portal could be decorated to look like a door that represents their base/ destination
I still think the verdict in the mumbo vs xb should be that doc ends up on a skyblock again.
Mumbo's got to have his own Skyblock arc
It would be the greatest
I was so crushed when Doc's time in the Skyblock ended. I really wanted to see more of it.
I loved how Cleo managed to hit Doc in the nerve during the trial by suggesting he should be banned from building with diamond ore blocks. Cleo is so savage and I love it.
It would be the funniest outcome of the trail if somehow, yet again, doc was the one punished to skyblock. Especially if Joehills was the instigator.
I can already hear Doc huffing and puffing in rage 😂
The Nether Hub will be an enormous dome held up by a statue of BDubs, depicted as an Adonis-like Greek god with a plaque reading "World's Greatest Minecrafter". This will symbolize how, just as Atlas held up the sky alone, BDubs must hold up the entire server alone.
this is SO funny-- i'd unironically love it if bdubs did this LOL
then...shouldn't it be a statue of x? 😆
"Can you hear the silence?
Can you see the dark?
Can you fix the broken?
Can you feel, can you feel my heart?" Ahh comment 😅
Building giant heads of each hermit in glass hologram on their respective portals would be cool and would be a good location indicator
I had an idea- I'll keep it to myself. This is better.

For the nether hub… since all the portals are pretty much at the same Y axis, instead of making a “building”, I think you should make some sort of custom biome (to your choosing). Then all the portals can rest on the land and each person can customize their own portal if they choose to.
I like that idea
Me too
Thanks
Brooooo the self-replies are CRAZY 🤣
One thing I would love to see Mojang do with bees is auto breeding the way villagers do. So, if there's space in the hive and at least two of them, there's a chance they'll breed.
Nether hub idea: make each portal a house and create a neighborhood with roads and parks and businesses. The Hermit Suburbs!:) much love
Love the fact that bdubs is slowly discovering all the camera mods to play with, it really adds to the masterful cinematography hens been doing
😂
Pearl has already volonteered to do the hub next season though
I was thinking a "temple" sort of thing, too... maybe not so much the passive aggressive aspect. XD It would be a temple to pettiness.
Love everything you make bdubs, only thing I can think of to help the forest is to remember that nature was their first, then then buildings came along, maybe some tree stumps where you needed to clear space for projects or resources, as always keep up your masterful work!
I could watch a million Hermitcraft episodes about trees. Between Scar, Bdubs, and Mumbo there has been insanely talented tree techniques this season!
and grian with the wart shop!!
I'm actually building a tree as I'm watching this video. I've been following Grian's branch rule, Bdubs' block use, etc. I think it's looking neat so far :)
crazy to see Mumbo as a *good* example of builders
he's come a long way 🥲
Ohh and the pickle fiend Pearl with her trees, Keralis and Gem's palm trees (i'm building some myself inspired by them), Ren with his alien flora, so much cool treeificating this season it's awesome
for the nether hub, you could treat it as a biome with boardwalks maybe, rather than a large structure with walls? like there could be different trees and plant life, with the scaffolding being replaced by raised boardwalks, and each portal being a point of interest/some plant or structure that represents the hermit it belongs to.
Remember that all black crazy cool building from last season? That would look incredible to play with sillouttes and make it all evil looking
I think that's a good call. Just leaning into the limitations instead of trying to fight them.
Honestly I think even just replacing the existing scaffolding with half slabs and cohesive stairs to the floor would be a nice improvement. Subtle changes can work wonders like that
I agree with this. I'm not sure what the best way to take advanatage of having a red sky is, but I think you have to at least try to use that.
i feel like the palate of pandora's vault (the dream smp prison) would work really well with the red sky
And the bees would never sleep
Really good concept!
@@wallyandjilly375 thanks
Like a Zen garden! :)
I agree, and the scaffolding could be switched out with bridges. Same concept could apply for a nether fortress or something.
33:30 i was in awe and then i was in tears. Damn it man right in the feels.
The Mr. Rogers intro took me right back to my childhood, just another reason I love this channel.
Big day for fans of the greatest minecraft player of all time
Yes. The best
Etho didn't upload today
Scar didn't upload either
These people didn’t get the reference 😂
44:43 that angle of the mountain makes it look like a chess piece king with his cape and arms outstretched underneath a little. Maybe needs a bigger head, or a head period? Hey, how about giant chess pieces striding across the great plains?
20:40 it all makes sense now. Bdubs has been stuck in the light level 7 mob spawning era
Maybe somebody should tell him that it changed three years ago in 1.18
He's talking about daylight, not block light. He mentioned that block light has to be above 0, or block light can be 0 and daylight is above some larger value. Daylight levels on the surface are still greater than zero even at night, so if mobs needed 0 daylight to spawn, you wouldn't get mob spawns at night.
@@LifeSizeTeddyBear please don't, think of the content, the confusion then the chuckle of realisation.
@@Xeroxias Nuh,hostile mobs literally only spawn at light level 0 except for slimes and nethermobs
0:10 Petition for Bdubs to be Mr. Roger's successor. Two absolutely pure souls with endless imagination
Signed
Imagine if Mr. Rogers yelled about not being short, hates things with a "flaming, fervent passion," and spent 70% of the time talking in mangled gibberish.
It'd sort of be great.
I, for one, am here for Mr. Bdubs' Neighborhood.
“Pure soul” wait until you hear about Beau

Great video! Nether hub could be a mirror spooky fun house. Each portal could be a mirror of sorts with a maze affect that embraces the theme
XB uses shaders that makes the blocks look dated and ugly
@@daftdigitYeah he uses that ugly texture pack. Great guy with great content but please, xB, let go of the texture pack.
@@prof.reuniclus21 RIGHT I feel the same it makes it hard to watch. feels like it's 2014 Minecraft
@@daftdigit Yeah, I put him on as background noise most of the time.
40:41 damn this was such a sweet moment. I lost my dog 2 years ago and i cry at least 3 times a week over her.
That would be a good way to "explain" the particle effects in the nether!
prehistoric megafauna!! :0 like the bone blocks u can find in the nether! fossils ooooo
(base, common area, etc.)
With having no ceilings or walls to keep it open, make a few vertical landmarks that draw the eye to help orient yourself when you hop out of a portal and instantly start flying off.
After craziness of the life series and how bdubs is in that, this feels like a whole different person and game
29:06 I think changing to an actual thin wood branch, tipped with leaves, poking out from the lower, sun-starved floor rather than just puff balls, would more represent an ancient tree trying to burst its confines.
I could watch bdubs build for hours, it's so therapeutic and it always looks so pretty
For the hub. Make a lake, blue blocks coverd be glasblocks. The portals all on their little islands with wooden walkways and bridges. Can put in a lot of greens in that way as well.
40:26 aww xB...
Something that could be cool, for the nether hub, would be like a big forest with custom, personalized trees that each of the Hermits' portals could be inside
Garden is absolutely gorgeous. Love the shape of the bonsai tree
ohmygod i still cannot get over how beautifully the top of those trees were done. the way it makes it feel like the sun is rising *chefs kiss*.
Chernobyl netherhub. Where nature, mutations, and industrialization become 1
That was very sweet of you to add the doghouse for Bishop. As someone who lost a pet recently after many years it is the small things that count. And your handling of the reveal was quite sensitive and caring.
Didn't expect to get feels from a Minecraft build collab video today, but thank you for this.
Ok two more things beyond my first gush about the thumbnail beauty:
1. Learned to use coral in a planter with the slabs 🎉
2. Learned about using item frames in pots for your own designs 🎉
Looove it!
For the nether hub, maybe a massive space with a vaulted ceiling, like the inside of a cathedral? Leaves things open, minimal upward-facing blocks, and the red fog would give a real sense of distance and make the space feel even bigger! P.S. Great relaxing video, just what I needed after a hard day of work
Bdubs, your creative vision is beautiful.
I think it would be very entertaining to see Bdubs host a HGTV-esque home renovation show with the hermits
Also, the nether hub being a maze would be hilarious.
9:05 Bdubs is the Grinch of Hermitcraft 😂
An idea for the Nether Hub: I agree with Grian. Make it an open space, something like one of those central maps from shooter games, like Quake or Unreal Tournament. Almost like what you did for xBCrafted - open, tall spaces with highs and lows, and maybe some pillars where people can freely fly, climb, and explore
Watching Bdubs build in Minecraft is like watching Bob Ross paint.
I was just saying that bdubs is the Bob Ross of minecraft, even has the calming voice (most of the time)
27:14 that moss block under the tuff being revealed by the path block is chef kiss
I love the extra trees!! Such a 'small' thing makes a really big difference
42:20 "Every block in this game has a use."
*Coughs in purpur*
i genuinely get amazed EVERYTIME bdubs showcases his design/build
This is straight-up incredible! I would’ve never thought of putting a lush garden inside an ocean monument like that!!
Alright Bdubs, here's my ideas for the Nether Hub:
- Train Stations/Airports: Have you played mini motorways or have you seen the London Tube maps.
- Creaking Kingdom: Stick to the grey scale only and create something with some of the new blocks available with a Creaking centre piece
Hope that gives you some more ideas to think about.
Totally greyscale with the ominous red sky would be so cool
Yes!
