  • Today, as we set on our voyage to explore the Avengers we are sure you must be thrilled! Wait a minute. I hope you have noticedwhat’s missing. I mean, there would be no Captain America, Iron Man, Ant-Man, Spider-Man, and other Super Heroes. Instead, there would be Fergus Mac Murdie, Algernon Heathcote Smith, Nellie Gray, along with a few more. What's in a name? Why don't you learn the names and see how sharp your memory is! We might conduct a quiz on the associates of The Avenger.
Anyway, meet the healthy, extremely knowledgeable, globe-trotting adventurer, Richard Henry Benson, the famous pulp hero of Street & Smith. Just like Conan, the Barbarian was created out of the Kull stories by Robert E. Howard in Weird Tales Magazine, The Avenger, was created in September 1939 by combining two other S&S pulp heroes, The Shadow and Doc Savage. Author Paul Ernst was engaged to develop and write about "The Avenger" under the house name Kenneth Robeson. Lester Dent, creator of Doc Savage, and Walter Gibson, author of "The Shadow," guided Paul Ernst to merge the two famous characters into The Avenger.
In the first story of The Avenger, titled "Justice Inc," we are introduced to Richard Henry Benson and his family, who have simply disappeared from a flight without a trace. The shock of losing the family converted Richard Henry Benson into the Avenger, avenging all crimes that cross his way. He was joined by others who had suffered in a similar manner. Together, they formed a "Justice Inc" group to provide justice to anyone suffering in a similar way. Apart from the magazine, a radio show was also organized at the same time featuring pulp stories. Comics were not left behind. The stories of the Avenger and "Justice Inc" were adapted into comics, initially as backup stories in S&S but later adapted by DC comics. Warner Paperback Library did paperback reprints of the Avenger in the 1970s. In recent times, Moonstone Books has published three volumes of avenger stories by a variety of authors. We will discuss these facts in detail eventually.

Doc savage was a classic, both magazines and the film.

Also, Street & Smith had previously done other heroes to follow along after Doc Savage and The Shadow. They did Pete Rice, a western character, and revised Nick Carter. They created 2 that more followed Doc & The Shadow. The Whisperer for The Shadow and The Skipper, a kind of nautical Doc Savage. When they magazines failed, they wound up as backup series in the others magazines.
They also did Crime Busters which has several heroes serialized, in the hopes something would catch they could spin out in their own magazine.
Only then did they combine elements of Doc & the Shadow to create The Avenger.

The book that got me hooked on reading (in Jr. High) was "Doc Savage: Red Snow". After I'd read all the Doc Savage books (currently on the shelves) I started reading "The Avenger" #1, and I loved it too. And decades later I'm still looking for more books, and wishing for a movie, or series.
As always, thank you so very much for the (Marvelous) video.

There are new Doc Savage works by Will Murray, new Avenger works by several. And original heroes and characters in the style of the old pulps.

First read about the Avenger in DC’s Justice Inc. The concept was rather good, but both the 1930s pulp series & the later DC comic didn’t last long.
The Avenger was also seen in DC’s First Wave miniseries.

He and his family got on the plane.
When he went to the washroom, they killed his wife and daughter and threw them out of the plane, then claimed they were never there.

Looking for a Movie. A Horror Movie. Mid to Late 80's. About a town the Disappears and Reappears ever few years on a Certain Day for only 24hours. A Group of Friends were looking for it (research) and found it. The People in the City are after them but some do Welcome them and try to help them get out. All but one escape as he is pulled back in. A Few Years go by and the Friends return to try and find their friend they could not save. But the friend has changed and hunts them now.

This channel has a lot of videos with interesting concept. However, 90% of the narrators are super boring, they read the script like a 3rd grader reading an assignment, there is no emotion or nuanced at all. Don't get me wrong, there are some good one here but the amount of bad narrators really stand out. Most channels like this are just someone reading a script but they actually put some effort into it, the people here feel like they are just half-assing it.

Right on point. I was going to write similar things. Content is good but narrator(s) are very bad. Put some background music etc. Make more attractive. If you can find a good narrator your channel will have much more subscribers. Please consider this as constructive criticism. We want you to be better.

There is a video about aquatic horror movie with the thumbnail saying "10 great but lost aquatic movies".
