That's an excellent idea, Mike. But I think, and I could be wrong, that boilers are better suited in more cold climates. I'll research a bit on it. Thanks Mike!
@TravisDoesFirewood no worries. There are people in my area that run wood boilers. I don't see the need but some people prefer them to keep all the ness out of the house
Wow Trav, I kinda know where your comin' from. I was born with severe bronchial asthma, and lived in Mass. for 16 years... Neadless to say I too spent Alot of time in and out of hospital... then we relocated to AZ. where the dry climate helped out Alot... Here's hopin' the Lil guy and yourselves have a calm and restful Holiday season... Stay cool Brother... Peace...
Don't worry bout us, we'll b here. Take care of the little guy. There's several wood hounds that have taken longer breaks recently. They may or may not explain, doesn't really matter. Health, work, burn out, doesn't matter, we've all been there
The stove ash of dug-fir or soft wood in general, is much more fine then your average hard wood ash. Anything dealing with cleaning the fire box, or chimney id highly recommend keeping him away from it. But i figure your already well aware of that. . I personally would consider a outdoor burner, wouldn't get a big one, and heat a out building as well with limited insulation. Plus hot water and even use hot water for a clothing dryer to maximize burn/running time in the unusually mild climate. West of the Cascade mountains.
So sorry to hear that Travis, you could make your own hepa filers, there lots on you tube, and probably better than you could buy, a outside boiler would be a great choice if possible, stay strong keep cutting when you can 👍🚜
Many thanks for the support, Len. Mike mentioned a wood boiler too. And I've seen those square box-like filters that people make - I may need to do that. Keep cuttin'!
Travis, I'm so sorry to hear that about your son. Everything else takes a lower priority than your family's health. In an effort to try and find a positive,,,, if you stop burning wood to heat your house it means you will have more inventory available to sell.
Health and family 1st. As for heating firewood, I am mixed on that one just as you, as there are so many other things around cause health issues that not burning would be really be changing anything? Maybe, but I am no expert either.
To piggyback, maybe a couple humidifiers plus anything you may have on the stove. I've always had a couple old teapots simmer away but I have 2 humidifiers going now too. Airs much better. And when you clean it out use an ash vac to suck up the dust that flies. Won't get it all but gets quite a bit.
First time here, prayers for your son and family. One option is stop burning wood for a season and sell the wood so you can comfortably turn up the thermostat. Does the dry humidity in the house make it worse? You’ll never regret making changes for your family.🙏🏻🙏🏻
Many thanks for stopping by, Larry. I keep humidifiers going throughout the house. I don't have duct work in the house so no thermostat. Turning on the heat pump and room heaters is an option but $$. Looking into higher-grade air purifiers now. Thanks for watching, keep cuttin'!
One more detail... ionizing filters create ozone which is a lung irritant. I'm unclear how this is going to balance out with removing particulates. It's probably fine.

Welcome back Travis. Glad your son is improving. Take all the time you need with family and don't apologize for it.
Well said. 😉👍
Glad to see you back. Glad you all are back home
Another option to keep burning wood would to be an outside wood boiler. That would keep all the dirty stuff outside
That's an excellent idea, Mike. But I think, and I could be wrong, that boilers are better suited in more cold climates. I'll research a bit on it. Thanks Mike!

This is a great option. Tons of wood boilers in my area of North Carolina and it’s hot down here!

That's good to know that I'm not the only channel taking breaks. YT is a grind. Thanks for the support, Brandon!
