Now I'm here watching again to pay closer attention to your techniques. I love the way you use *everything* and nothing goes to waste! I'm learning so much from you. :)

Thank you, ma’am. Very enjoyable. I appreciate the fact that you don’t talk too much about irrelevant things. 👍🏻. And that you use all kinds of paper!😉

Now days, there ARE recipes for Permanent, Non-Molding Without Refrigeration. I’ve made one and am really enjoying it. You'll have lots of fun, Diane! I will tell you, just like I have told others, gelli printing takes a little getting used to. You'll figure out how much paint to use by trial and error. Also, don’t be surprised if your first prints don’t turn out exactly like you wanted them to - and whatever you do, don't give up. Tammy Brackett Yay! I’m so happy for you, Tammy! Just remember that it takes a little getting used to - if you’re like me and most (if not all) others, you won’t like a lot of your first prints. But don’t be discouraged, just keep on layering until you’re happy with the outcome. My best advice is to start by choosing colors from the same color family, i.e., yellows with oranges and reds - blues with yellows and greens, etc. When those are dry, you can layer on some of the opposite colors. I hope you have a blast experimenting with your gelli plate - it’s SOOO much fun! 😊😊😊 P.S. Even the prints you just can’t get to look right, really look amazing when torn into small pieces. 😉
Cat Hand, it’s just arrived today (21st December) so I’m going to get it out and PLAY! Thanks so much for the inspiration! All the very best for Christmas and the coming year.
Oh my goodness! I think this is so beautiful. Thank you for showing us the basics. Oh, and I love long videos LOL. Ok. I don't have hardly any of this stuff. I've GOT to go shopping!
For the first demo -green with bubble wrap on label sheet, can you then run that sheet of labels through your printer to have regular printing on top? not sure if this would leave paint residue in the copier, though.
Thanks so much Cat for doing this video, been debating whether to get a gelli plate but i will just have to bite the bullet and get one tfs big hugs Caroline xxx
You're very welcome, Caroline. I feel that a gelli plate is sooo worth the money. It lasts forever if you care for it properly and makes such fun prints! Thanks for watching! HUGS! 😊
Hi! In the beginning of your video you said you had leftover print from a magazine and text. Do images from these transfer to the Gelli plate to pick up?
Hi Tina! The words and images can transfer to the gelli plate, and they do sometimes lift onto my prints. Gelli printing is really fun, kinda like that box o’ chocolates… you never know what you’re gonna get! 😃
I’m sorry, but I don’t remember where I got the circle stencil - I’ve had it for a very long time. I buy acrylic paints at craft stores and online at Amazon. Thanks for watching! 😊
Another great video! Lots of useful tips. I love gelli printing! My favourite household tool to use is an orange or onion bag mesh. I embellished a gelli print for the upcoming hashtag event. :)
+BeCre8ive2 Thanks so much Leanne. So glad you enjoyed it and found some useful info in there. Yes, I love the mesh bag, too! I'm still trying to get around to creating my hashtag stuff... Hopefully I'll get one or two in. TFW! :)
Thanks, Casey - I'm glad you found it helpful! That is a Dylusions stencil called Triangles - it's older and kinda hard to find now. Thank you for watching and commenting. 🙂
have you ever run those labels thru your printer after printing on them with paint? I have used copy paper (printer paper), white tissue, dried baby wipes, music book pages, graph paper, notebook lined paper, ... but never thought of using labels! thank you.
No, I don’t use the painted labels in my printer - I use them to create with. 😊 Here’s a video with a couple of ideas: ruclips.net/video/pqYPfYHcqoo/видео.html
Thanks, Rita! The foam stamps I showed in this video are very old and no longer available, although sometimes they can be found on eBay and at garage sales. Also you can try Joggles.com for more current foam stamps. 😊
Thank you for your kind words. 😊 Yes, you can gel print on fabrics, but you would probably want to stabilize your fabric first. You can see how that's done in this video from Gelli Arts: www.youtube.com/ watch?v=07onkGDK4cA
This is really interesting and helpful. I have seen a lot of Gelli prints but I've never done them so you showing us the basics helps. It looks like I would love it. I liked that purple one that was one of your first. I always say this but I love your color choices, I was coaching you along when you had the purple, light green and were debating on the third color, I was hear saying dark blue, dark blue and you did it.:> They look so sharp together. Ooh, I like that last red one, it looks like fireworks.
+Lottie Faith Oh my goodness, you would DEFINITELY love it! I'm so glad you enjoyed this video (Part 2 is uploading right now) See, if you were coaching me on the colors, you must not be too bad at it yourself! LOL I guess it's true about great minds thinking alike... ;-) Funny you should say that about fireworks... I thought the one I was stamping off with the bottom of the bowl looked like fireworks, too! Be sure to check out what I did with that in the second part. TFW! :)
Cat..GREAT ideas!! do you feel that the 6x6 or the 12x12 stencils are more useful???? I enjoy your work...have watched a lot! I now have an 8x10 AND a 5x7 gelli plates and other goodies and spending way too much money!
Thanks, Lani. I like both, equally. I know that's probably not much help to you, but it just depends on what I'm creating as to which size I use. Yeah, I know stuff costs way too much, so just go easy and purchase a little at a time and you'll do fine. 🙂
Thanks for this video! It came at the perfect time as I just made my own permanent plate a couple of days ago. Now I have some great ideas thanks to your video. Suzette xx
+PaperScissorsGlue Yay! You are about to have so much fun using a gelli plate!! I'm so glad you enjoyed my video (Part 2 is uploading right now.) Thanks so much for watching and commenting, Suzette! :)
I've been wanting to try Gelli plate printing for quite some time. Thank you for sharing your tips and inspiration! I loved the prints made with the bottom of the plastic bowl from the grocery store. What size Gelli plate are you using in the video?
Just wet them - they should come off easily with a damp rag. Your paint may have dried too quickly. Try using a bit more paint on the plate, press your paper down and remove it right away. If you still have problems, try a different paper. 😊
It didn’t cone off with water. I then use hand sanitizer, it did. I will try more paint and a faster pull. The brand is speedball. I am disappointed. However, I tried another plate by gel press while air drying the speedball gel plate. The gel press one works wonderfully.
Hand sanitizer was gonna be my next suggestion, lol! I’m glad it came off. Yeah, I’ve heard that the Speedball plate doesn’t work very well. In its defense, though, it’s meant for use with printing ink. Gel Press and Gelli Arts make the plates intended for acrylic paint. 😊
Thank you so much for another wonderful video, Cat! I was thinking about buying a Gelli Plate. Your video was very informative. Could you tell me what size plate you are using, and what size (inches) brayer? Thank you so much. I always look forward to seeing your videos and how wonderful everything turns out!
+Julie Katz Hi Julie, thanks for your nice comment. I was using an 8x10 inch gelli plate and a 4 inch soft rubber brayer by Speedball. I'm really pleased that you are enjoying my videos and look forward to seeing them. Thank you so much for watching! :)
The gel plate I used here is 8x10 inches. You can use pretty much any kind of paper you want. I use printer paper, card stock, magazine pages, tissue paper, book pages, music sheets, etc. 😊
Hi Cat~thanks for the teaching~been intimidated before! I need to know what kind of paints are you using? Are craft paints ok? I think someone said that they dry way faster than others. What do you think? Really need to know ASAP!
Hi there! Yes, I most often use inexpensive craft paints when I'm gelli printing. It takes a little practice, but you'll soon get the feel for how much paint to use. The best thing you can do is to have all your papers and supplies ready and very close by, and if you do that you can work quickly enough so the paint on the plate won't dry before you make your print. Have fun and thanks for watching! 😊
Awesome!!! Thank you so much, Cat! I love your color combinations, as always. I was wondering where you got your foam stamps? I'm not sure where to look, but would like to get a few to play with. :)
+Nancy Dale Hey Nancy! Glad you enjoyed it! I get my foam stamps from various places. Lately I've found a few on Amazon. I've had some of them for so long, I don't remember where I got them! Sorry, I'm not much help there, I guess. But do check on Amazon. Oh, and I think I've seen a few on Etsy, too. TFW! :)
+Marieville55 I have only used acrylic paints on my Gelli plate. But you can go to the Gelli Arts YT channel and learn a lot of ways to use your Gelli plate. ruclips.net/user/GelliArtsvideos
+Carmen Hofmann Thanks, Carmen. 😊 I don't do very much stamping, but I think Jennifer McGuire Ink shows a great Mirror Stamping technique on her channel. Thanks for watching! 😊

+Cheri Peeples Thank you very much Cheri - so glad you enjoyed the video! :)
This is certainly helpful to me, I always end up making a mess of mine and things go wrong lol. Many thanks for the 'how to', tfs x
Oh, I'm so glad you found this video to be helpful, Elizabeth! My pleasure, for sure! TFW! 😊
Thanks for the demonstration. I wondered what gelli printing was, now I know. 😁
You’re very welcome, Carol - gelli printing is a lot of fun! 😊

Just love your creations, you are Amazing.x💕
Love watching you create 🥰
Oh my goodness! I think this is so beautiful. Thank you for showing us the basics. Oh, and I love long videos LOL. Ok. I don't have hardly any of this stuff. I've GOT to go shopping!
Thanks Kristie - I'm glad you enjoyed it! Happy arting! 😊
For the first demo -green with bubble wrap on label sheet, can you then run that sheet of labels through your printer to have regular printing on top? not sure if this would leave paint residue in the copier, though.
I’m not sure, either - never tried that...
HUGS! 😊
Love it! The plastic bowl print was beautiful!
Thanks, Sarah and thank you for watching! 😊
Can you spray water on the second print to get a watercolor effect? Love the video. Thanks so much.
+Anna-Laura Hocker I have not tried that - but my thinkinig is tht the paint dries too quickly. Sounds like a good experiment, though! :)
Great! One question. Is it possible to apply the gel plate, with the colors, to a canvas?
I haven’t ever tried that, but go for it! It would be a fun thing to experiment with. 😊
MAY i ask were you got your circle stencil at i can't wait to try this out and were you get your paint from
I’m sorry, but I don’t remember where I got the circle stencil - I’ve had it for a very long time. I buy acrylic paints at craft stores and online at Amazon. Thanks for watching! 😊
Great video Cathy 😄 My plate is still on my wish list, maybe for Christmas!! TFS, and take care 🌺
+Never Hopeless Oooooh, I hope you're a good girl so Santa will bring it to you!!!! Thanks so much for watching, Elizabeth! :)
Oh I love this! And i love the label sheet idea! Wonderful!
Thanks so much, Kim! 😊
This is great Cat. Just what I needed. I love the great prints you are getting.
Thanks, Linda! So glad you enjoyed it! TFW!
TFW! :)
Thank you for the tutorial, lots of good ideas
Great Video..best beginner video i've seen..where did you get stencil used at 17:38. Thanks
Thanks, Casey - I'm glad you found it helpful! That is a Dylusions stencil called Triangles - it's older and kinda hard to find now. Thank you for watching and commenting. 🙂
Cat that's so awesome 😎 I really love ❤️ the bowls mark and the balled up tissue paper. Just amazing thank you so much
Very nice! Time to go play now!
+Faye Chilcoat Thanks, Faye! So glad you enjoyed it! :) TFW!
I’m very new to this Art Hun thank you for posting your video up I’m sure it will help me a lot
My pleasure, Therese! 😊
have you ever run those labels thru your printer after printing on them with paint?
I have used copy paper (printer paper), white tissue, dried baby wipes, music book pages, graph paper, notebook lined paper, ... but never thought of using labels! thank you.
No, I don’t use the painted labels in my printer - I use them to create with. 😊 Here’s a video with a couple of ideas: ruclips.net/video/pqYPfYHcqoo/видео.html
Hello- can you share where you purchased your foam stamps? Love your video.
Thanks, Rita! The foam stamps I showed in this video are very old and no longer available, although sometimes they can be found on eBay and at garage sales. Also you can try Joggles.com for more current foam stamps. 😊
You created some really pretty prints. TFS
Thanks so much! 😊
I don't know why, but I find Cat Hand's voice is like an invitation to do art. Can Gelli Print be used to print textile (such as t-shirts)?
Thank you for your kind words. 😊 Yes, you can gel print on fabrics, but you would
probably want to stabilize your fabric first. You can see how that's done in this
video from Gelli Arts: www.youtube.com/
watch?v=07onkGDK4cA
TFS! I just bought a gelli plate, so going to try it out.
My pleasure - you are going to love it! Have fun! 😊
Hello and thanks for your video.
Can you tell me which sort of paint you are using? Is it Acrylic?
Hi Sue - you’re very welcome! Yes, I’m using acrylic paints. Thanks so much for watching and commenting! 😊
Cat Hand Thank you for replying. I have recently got myself a geli plate, let the mess begin lol.
😂 For sure!
I've been wanting to try Gelli plate printing for quite some time. Thank you for sharing your tips and inspiration! I loved the prints made with the bottom of the plastic bowl from the grocery store. What size Gelli plate are you using in the video?
Thanks Christine! In this video, I was using an 8x10 gelli plate. Get ready for lots of fun! :) TFW!

My paper stick to the plate when I did my first pull. Now I have torn pieces of paper left on the gel plate. What do I do? Help
Btw, I meant to ask: do I have to condition the gelli plate with baby oil?
I think it would probably help to condition it from time to time, but you don’t need to do it every time you use it.
Awesome video Cathy. I'll watch Part 2 ASAP. I can't wait until we can get together and play. :-)
+Laurie Richardson Haley Thanks so much Laurie. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Oh, I know! I can't wait either!! :)
Very cool! Great tutorial for beginners especially!
+Juliana Cotton Thanks Juliana - I appreciate you watching! 😊
What paper do you use and what size is the gel board?🙏🙏🙏
Thank you love the way you teach and explain
My pleasure! Thank you for watching and taking the time to leave me a comment! 😊
I'm going to luv this! thanks for sharing.
+BohoDiva You are very welcome! Thanks for watching! 😊
I Love your techniques.
+Angel Morgan Thank you so much, Angel - I appreciate you watching and commenting. 😊
TFW! :)
What other mediums besides acrylic paint, can I use on the Gelli plate? Thanks.
+Marieville55 I have only used acrylic paints on my Gelli plate. But you can go to the Gelli Arts YT channel and learn a lot of ways to use your Gelli plate. ruclips.net/user/GelliArtsvideos
Can you tell me the name of the paints that you use on the gelli plate. Thanks
Hi Selma - I mostly use inexpensive acrylic craft paints and Liquitex Basics acrylic paints on my gel plates. 😊 Thanks for watching!
Can you please show Reverse stampin, too? thank you so much for Sharing. greetings from Munich Germany
+Carmen Hofmann Thanks, Carmen. 😊 I don't do very much stamping, but I think Jennifer McGuire Ink shows a great Mirror Stamping technique on her channel. Thanks for watching! 😊
