I've watched this video over and over , it gets better each time : QUESTION ON THE STUDDER - What's the way you get that , I've a VL3X - I dig your music - respect man .
Sometimes screen real estate can be limited, for sure... but I find I'm doing most of my patch editing on the road, during soundcheck, even during the song! And I need to constantly be monitoring the result, so I'm not sure an app editor would benefit me as much as it does when I'm programming a midi controller.
Hey thanks, just ordered one and wasn’t sure if we could use midi for vocalizing. Did I catch it right that it’s four note polyphony? So with the note you are singing is that five? Thanks in advance. Killer tune and video.
yes, 4-note polyphony, and yes 5 if you count your "original" voice! You can also add a choral effect or doubler to those 4 harmonies so that they sound even thicker.
Do you also know wether it's possible to use the midi keyboard on your voicelive 3 looper? So i mean; can you loop the sounds you play with a midi keyboard? (I'm asking cause it seems unlikely seeing as how the actual sound the keyboard makes is caused by my computer rather than by the keyboard itself and the keyboard is the only thing that's plugged into the looper)
Incredible! Have you ever had any tech issues with your voicelive? I've heard some scary reports of them malfunctioning before shows. Beautiful work though!
Hi, how did you connect your midi controller to the VL3? Via MIDI? Could you tell me if it was possible to do the same with my USB midi keyboard plugged directly into the miniUSB input of the VL3? Thanks. Great video, btw.
Hello, could you tell me how do I connect a midi keyboard to my voicelive 3 and how do I configure it to hear it? I can't get it to work. I want to connect it via usb thanks .
do i have to hook it up to a stereo or anything? all i have connected to it is the microphone and the power thing, but i can't hear anything. everything is on too. i don't see any of those little sound bubbles -- like on the bottom of an iphone.
+phanhansen Yes, you've got to either hook it up to an amplifier (using the outputs in the back) or plug in headphones in order to hear anything it's doing.
Gavin. Have you tried using the VL3 with a DAW? I want this thing, but it doesn't have MIDI clock sync, which makes it pointless when integrating with Ableton Live. What are your thoughts?
Thus far I've only used it as a "freestanding" vocal and keyboard effects processor, since I'm not looping in Ableton on stage, and the tempos of songs are pre-defined, there's no reason to have the two talk. I know you can send CC Messages to the VL3, so you could do a ton of pre-programming sync stuff that way, but it's not exactly the same as "MIDI clock sync." I've read that TC-Helicon is considering midi-sync for a future update, so maybe they'll get it in. What would be your implementation of it?
Actually,,, I may be wrong about the new midi capabilities. I know they demo'd it with the beat buddy so it would sync with that.... but that might not be what you're talking about. I've never done anything with midi. :)
It's very nice to hear what the pedal can do and what you like it to do, and what you do with it, but you don't mention at ALL how to do it. There is no step-by-step, just you jabbering about how cool you are, without helping new users to learn exactly how to approach this pedal and get it to make some cool sounds. I know what the thing CAN do, but HOW does one do it? Sure would be nice to see, but the screen is illegible as you turn the knobs.
John Gault I'm sorry my efforts frustrated you; I hadn't intended this video to be a step-by-step tutorial, more of a "here are the ways I applied the VL3 in my live performance." Craig from TC-Helicon has some really helpful tutorial videos (probably linked in the sidebar), and all of the features I used are well documented in the downloadable manual (which is how I learned to implement them). I'd be happy to answer any specific programming questions you have if you'd be willing to be less derisive in your comments.
Gavin Castleton Yeah, thanks...I don't find their "tutorials" very instructive either, to be quite frank. Lots of jabbering, inside jargon and corny jokes but there is no step-by-step whatsoever. I don't find them to be very good at teaching or even really communicating in a way that conveys a message. Mind you, I am quite tech-savvy and have lots of gadgets, but the videos on this one really don't teach, they merely show off the device and the presenters and their insipid jokes.
John Gault As Gavin said, he's explaining how HE uses it. Its not intended to be step by step. However my main reason for writing to you John is because you have an attitude in you're comments as if he or someone owes you something. As if you had to pay for this tutorial or something. If you need instruction videos to use Voicelive 3 you couldn't me a "tech-savvy" as you proclaim. Sit down and figure it out before you rag on people who have done exactly that. Frankly, i'm surprised he wrote back to you at all.
Even the tutorials on this product are not tutorial. It's frustrating to pay $700 for a voice and guitar effects pedal, be told that it does amazing things and then find tutorials promising to show you those amazing things and then learn that those tutorials don't show how to create those amazing things. If you are going to post a tutorial, or an insider's video on how to use something, damn it, SHOW people how to use it. Yes, you owe the viewer that and the company owes the customer at least that. You call it an attitude. I call it frustration from a customer.
John Gault I understand your frustration. Is there something you're trying to do that you can't find in the manual? I found it a useful quick read. Also, if you haven't tried already, watch this video in HD and that may help you see the screen a little better (though I'm not sure you need it much as I'm just using the standard effects and adjusting their settings to my liking). The Step function is really useful, and clearly detailed in the manual.
What is the full text on the shirt? ...I already gave my burnt offerings to Collins and Gabriel today so I'm not just around to hassle. Edit: Nevermind, I believe I got it on fullscreen HD. You make that yourself man? "Kayne west is not a genius. He is a parody, at best. He is a 1st world ailment, personified. His tantrums should only be met with silence. He doesn’t even deserve the ink used to print this shirt."
well done Gavin..I can't believe you didn't add the song in its entirety ! you earned it!
Awesome to see someone actually using this intelligently. 9 years late, but well done..
Thank you so much, i really needed the pont of view of a singer for the using of this magnificent voice live!
Your VL3 performance videos are better than any TC-H puts out, and I definitely appreciate the extra VL3 vids, like this one.
MidnightHabit Thank you - that's very kind of you!
So true. Their videos don't tell me anything other than their staff knows how to write bad demo songs.
I've watched this video over and over , it gets better each time : QUESTION ON THE STUDDER - What's the way you get that , I've a VL3X - I dig your music - respect man .
It's been a while, but if I recall correctly, there's an effect called "Stutter" (or maybe it was the "Rhythmic" effect?) that I used for that.
@@gavincastletonmusic Great use of it on your recording , thanks .
well done my man !!! its good to nerd out on it thats what i wanna do when i get it
Thanks for the video.
Is your midi keyboard hooked up directly to the VL3? Or do you have to pass it thru a computer first? Cheers.
reincarnating it brothah! sounds awesome
is he using the MIDI input or a USB input? Anyone has tried to use a usb/midi cable? thanks
video title doesnt seem to be at what the video is about. 'How I use STEP with the VoiceLive 3' is what this video is.
Initiate black out laughter at 5:15
Great job building the presets Gavin , must have been time consuming. A PC/Mac Voicelive3 editor would sure make it easie ;)

Awesome Tshirt! Perfectly said commentary on Mr. West. Nice video too, cheers!
Excellent vid, way better than TCH’s, very funny with a straight face, the best strategy in case they don’t laugh. Thank you!
Love your creatively1 I'm using play acoustic with nector 3 for my vocal harmonies :] what do you think? tips?
Incredible! Have you ever had any tech issues with your voicelive? I've heard some scary reports of them malfunctioning before shows. Beautiful work though!
Open the Voicelive box. Put a piece of electrical tape on the SD Card holder and card. No more problems.
Hi, how did you connect your midi controller to the VL3? Via MIDI? Could you tell me if it was possible to do the same with my USB midi keyboard plugged directly into the miniUSB input of the VL3? Thanks.
Great video, btw.
Awesome! Thank you so much. Did you change over to the VL3 Xtreme?
Yes, I did! It's great
I also have a vl3 but how did you do the step settings? Like how do you change the effects so easily? I have no clue
Hello, could you tell me how do I connect a midi keyboard to my voicelive 3 and how do I configure it to hear it?
I can't get it to work.
I want to connect it via usb
thanks .
Great job Gavin, and great shirt... even if you don't give a shit.
Hi do you have a video on TC HELICON VOICELIVE TOUCH 2 Thank You
Do you share your VL3 patches anywhere, would be great as a starter patch to tweak?
This shows you can control the VL3 with midi but not how!!
Hi there, how do i connect keyboard to tc helicon voicelive 3
need your help, thanks
Mate do you know about ERRORS DETECTED
ERROR CODE 2008000 on this efekt
is it manufacture problem ?
Does MIDI in also include program changes?

I think the new capabilities allow the VL3 to serve as the midi sync master, as well as the slave.
do u get a mix u like from vl to headfones
is there a software similar to this?
has anyone tried using a usb/midi cable? thank
When you control harmony with the keyboard, how many voices of harmony does it limit you to?
four voices he said in this
@@rarecordings5934 Actually Voice Live 3 is 8 Voices
@@Saxyworld Neat, thanks for clarifying.
Can you really only have 4 voices of harmony in midi mode?
for the VL3, yes
haha Ravishing Rick Rude...
