I just started purchasing Canadian Maple Leaf Coin, I know I should have gotten them sooner, but better late than never, I only have 2024 and 2025's, total, 60, they are beautiful, I seem to get more bang for my buck with them, and I do like the 9999's, just my preference, I've slowed down greatly with the ASE, very good video Sir. I’m right there with you brother!! I really like the Silver Maples. I’m still going to continue to stack the Silver Eagles as well. Great video as usual. Thanks for sharing.👍🏾👊🏾
I came to similar conclusion with the exception that the ASE would still have the greatest recognition and utility function within US when it comes time for bartering or selling in an emergency.
I 100% agree. True statement, that the Maples are the better all-around coin in terms of quality, consistency, appearance, security...but...I still have more Eagles than I do Maples as they are always in demand, have a larger buying population and there is always that slim risk of barter.
Great video I love the maple leaf I'm new at this I got a question Does it matter if he open up the containers of 25? Does it devalue them at all is it okay to store them in individual clear cases? Thank you
My Eagles are pretty clean...but I do have some 2018s that have spotted. I think it is much more common today with Phils and Brits, the Maples seem to have it figured out.
After the US Mint abandoned the most beautiful and popular silver coin design of all time, I stopped buying Eagles. Why? 2 reasons. The Type 2 design is a huge disappointment, with the clipped-wing bird replacing the noble full eagle. But more importantly, the LOSS OF DETAIL on the Type 2! Yes, loss of detail. It's almost as if all the very fine lines on Lady Liberty got "washed-out"! Everywhere from the stripes on the gown, the folds on the blouse, the hair, the cap and the stars on the flag. A real downgrade! "Pay more for less"! So I forsake the high priced, low-quality ASE and started buying Canadian Maples. The Security features are amazing, the coin is beautiful and the detail is EXACT! A good bet!
Let's be real. The type 1 eagle sucked donkey balls too. The type 1 eagle is a government bird through and through. At least the type 2 has a free bird flying.
I like the design of the Maple Leaf far better than the ASE, and I like that they are .9999 and also cheaper. They will be the primary portion of my stack. I also just ordered 10 Britannias because I think they look cool and would like to have a few, I also want to buy a few Krugerrands for the same reason. I will stick with maple leafs as the bulk of my stack.
They can and do. But you've got a point. They aren't notorious for milk spotting. My complaints with the ASEs is usually the reed or the cut. Some thick, some thin. Poor consistency at least.
Yes. Great point. Now today they are about $1 dollar apart at my LCS in terms of cost. The issue is with the supply chain for Eagles. The US mint only distributes to a small number of distributors. With so many middlemen involved, the price/cost for ASEs goes up when their are supply constraints. You did well selling for so high over spot.
I've definitely been going after the maples since the Eagle premiums went insane but it's been nice seeing the premiums on Eagles come back down to earth and I'm just wishing it never went crazy so I could've just been sticking to the eagles instead of having a bunch of all the different countries sovereigns. I was thinking about putting it out there that I might be looking to trade stuff in to work towards filling this monster box of eagles up
Right now my dealer has new Maples at $2.50 over and new Eagles at $3.75 over. A year ago, Eagles were $10 to $15 over at times and Maples $6 - $10 over. Crazy really those spread on a 1 oz Silver Coin. You could swap out of your Maples for Eagles at my Coin shop for the $1.25 spread but I don't know if you would want to do that.

@@floridastacker , I wish, but no, UK always had the VAT and always will, it’s a cash cow for them. But imagine, they’ve the cheek to charge VAT on a constitutional £2 coin like a Britannia. That’s why I head over the pond every year, wink wink 😜
Great point. I have wished the same. You can find some older, retro 20 coin Maple Leaf tubes on eBay from time to time. The ones the RCM was using in the 1980/1990s
I went with RCML when I backed up the truck . I was new to precious metals ; I could have gotten ASE’s for the same price AT THAT TIME . Now when I inquire about selling ; I find that the maples are dollars less than the eagles … Why ?
Demand and the supply chain for ASEs keep their prices elevated. ASEs are more in demand, so more buyers. The US Mint also sells them only to around 4 or 5 distributors whom sell them to the smaller shops at a profit. The smaller shops next raise the price so they can make a profit. In the end, the ASE ends up costing more and you get more back for them when you sell due to this.

Because I recently sold my silver coins and bars, I can tell that quality of the coins doesn't matter. All coins and bars sold at the same price. Only the premium and price paid did matter. Everything sold just below the spot price so my advice is : buy at low prices with the lowest premium as possible because you will loose the premium.
I never had a problem with the Queen, or Chuck really, but I understand and have been reading this comment from others for 5 years now. Some folks just avoid the Monarchy on their silver and gold. Nothing wrong with that.
Silver will likely rise to $100 /oz where it will set a major top. This might happen in 2026-2027, certainly not 2024-2025.
