I have been using Super Display with my Galaxy S6 lite. It is really great. Also, for Undo, or any other functionality, I use an External key pad connected on my computer. In that way I can concentrate drawing on my tablet without problems tapping ot trying to find any functionality like Undo, crop, etc.
To say the code behind this is good is an understatement. The closest you can get to superdisplay is making a *wired* lan connection (with an ethernet cable) with a dongle on your tablet and then use a program to stream through a lan network between your pc and tablet.. and then deal with the awkward virtual monitor programs to mirror the virtual monitor to the tablet. All in one, through usb, it's magic
i use my Tab S9 Ultra as a tablet and Cintiq using super display. it actually works really really really really well. no lag. i really like it. i do a lot of photoshop work and my wacom tablet died. was contemplating getting a cintiq or another wacom until i discovered this. works flawlessly
I've been using this with my Tab S8 Ultra, there is no discernable lag for me over the wire. The lines are perfectly straight with no weird input, I do have quality moved to 100 instead of the recommended 80. Another thing, In the settings, make sure you enable the higher refresh rate. Works flawlessly, just make sure you're using a USB 3.0+ port or you're gonna have a bad time
Thank you for your advice, I also have an Ultra and I just downloaded the application and I must say that I am not very impressed: I have latency on Photoshop also I find the screen a little blurry on the tablet. I wasn't sure where the problem is but I'll try to use the same configuration as you.
Hello i have some questins about app for samsung. I really like tab s9 ultra but im amateur photographer and normally im using lightroom and photoshop in my mac for my photos.... But no chance to download photoshop for samsung tablets (im not talking about photoshop express its not same fully version) and i know clip studio paint app for samsung but i want to ask.... For example, can I process my photos layer by layer? Or can I combine two photos? For example, can I delete the sky in a photograph and give it a space image? May i use clip studio app same like photoshop tablet version... or this app only for drawing Thank you
9:55, I'm not bothered that even the android app itself has not been updated for 2 years. I think it's because the android app is well made already. If you're going to check the signature timestamp from the superdisplay's windows driver installer, you'll see that the installer was signed September 2022. What I'm trying to say is that, the developer is still actively maintaining the project.
@@wilsont1010 From what I see, people without video output on their Tab S9 Fe cannot get Superdisplay running. I saw someone say they had success using an alternative called Spacedesk, but they may have been connected wirelessly instead of through usb, which introduces more lag potential. Without video out, you probably have to rely on connecting wirelessly. Even then, results may vary depending on what model tablet you have and what second monitor app you use.
I found superdisplay one of these days while i was doing my thesis and maaaaaan that app works great and it's been great for me to do the thesis because for me it's easer to read pdf's and write on them in the tablet

Wow, really appreciate this app review! Now, in addition to having my desktop XP-Pen drawing tablet and Macbook/iPad Pro Sidecar combo, I was able to use my Tab S6 Lite with no discernible lag or problems on an old Thinkpad i5 vPro laptop I had lying around. I've tried Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Clip Studio Paint on it, all with no problems. I also like that Win10 treats it seamlessly like a second monitor and I'm able to adjust the screen resolution on the S6 with no problem; I use 1000 x 600, which loses a little clarity but makes the program screens big enough to be useful.
Clip Studio Paint comes preinstalled on a lot of newer Samsung tablets, they have a native android version, also couldn't you just change the interface scaling instead of resolution?
been looking for an app like this! tried virtual tablet before, but noticed that it's not mirroring and didn't input pressure sens for me, so I almost gave up looking for a way to get it to work. also thought about getting any kind of adapter to mirror the screen, but those mirror "the wrong way" lol. thanks for the video Brad! edit: actually the most helpful video in a good while, for making me aware of superdisplay :)

second display really really sucked. i used it for my Tab S9 Ultra.. didnt like it.. laggy as fk... tried this super display. literally no lag. i do a lot of photoshop work. its basically become my cintiq.
I have using it since two years ago and love it, only palm rejection is always issue. If you are Samsung user superdisplay will kick your samsung Dex off.
Regarding the updates. The app got updated last year to support android 13 and the dev is always answering question on twitter so there's no worry about being left in a broken state.
Excuse me, as you seem to be more familiar with the app i have a question if you don t mind. For the wired conection does my usb C port on the laptop need to be able to be used as a display port or does it work with any usb C port in general?
@disgracetwt5513 Hello 👋. I don't mind if at all. I think any usb 3.0 port will work. I have a pc desktop and just plug in my tablet into the usb A port that my monitor has, and it works perfectly even with 120hz enabled. I use an usb A to usb C cable for this, but if you have usb C on the laptop itself, it should work just as well.
I've been using SuperDisplay for a while now, I think it works terrific. To me, the main annoyance is actually how unsmooth scrolling and pinch & zoom is. I am not sure is it a native windows/Clip Studio Paint issue, or a SuperDisplay issue. The pen being very slightly laggy is not too much of a problem to me, I even use it on Wi-Fi. But my computer is connected to the router via Ethernet and I'm on 5Ghz Wi-Fi. It's no Wacom Cintiq, but certainly usable.
I generally don't run into pinch and scroll issues. The one thing that gets finicky on my end though is rotate in Photoshop. Even still, rotate gestures don't give me that much trouble. I don't get pen lag either while I'm wired in. Is your Superdisplay connected via usb?
I really recommend to use a USB C 3.1 Gen 2 cable to draw in Photoshop. if you use a default usb cable, you will see more delay when you draw. it's not perfect but I have no problem using photoshop, fresco, clipstudio, and Zbrush. it's a no-brainer buying Galaxy tab ultra if you have a pc laptop. Oh- I reduced the quality to 70% but it still looks good.

Oh yeah, Super disply is great. It's good for turning your tablet into a makeshift screen drawing tablet for your computer. Sometimes I use my galaxy s6 lite to draw on my computer over my xp-pen screen drawing tablet at times.
I have a question. how to use this software on your monitor and have the display act like a touch pad of sorts. I do not want to look at the tablet but my screen while drawing on the tablet.

I upgraded from S7+ to the Ultra. Loved my S7+, but pretty soon it began to feel like a baby tablet compared to the Ultra. The extra real estate was the main reason for my upgrade, and I have no regrets.
Public Service Announcement: The Superdisplay developer hasn't dropped off the face of the earth. His is still accessible. I've made contact not too long ago. He hasn't forgotten about Superdisplay. It just hasn't needed updates. And he actually has a newer beta version of the app which (I think) is designed to work around the Ultra's camera notch. (The notch doesn't get in the way of any of my art apps, so I haven't tried it.) On a different topic, I don't have any line pressure issues when I'm using desktop art apps through Superdisplay. And I use Superdisplay wired most the time.
Hello, you have better luck than me. I sent an email and a tweet kindly asking for help. The app is amazing and works flawlessly with my Galaxy Z fold 4 with S pen when I am using Windows 10. However when I am using windows 11 the button on the S pen doesn't work in photoshop or capture one or chrome. It right clicks if I right click on a blank space on the windows desktop, but not on any icons. On Windows 10 it does the right click function everyehere, but on windows 11 it doesn't function most of the time.. Can you please help me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I installed the drivers and have the same settings in both versions of windows and the android app, I can't figure out what's going on. Thank you for your time and help.
@@Imwphotography The thing about Windows 11 is that all early adopters are taking a risk when it comes to software compatibility. I'm still on Windows 10 for this very reason. Have you gotten a response back yet from either email or Twitter?

this is the kind of thing I've been looking for my huion just completely stopped displaying I can still draw on it it but it's like having an early wacom tablet just a black surface. I'm curious did you have photoshop loaded on your tablet or your laptop? I've been wanting to use it with krita from my desktop machine. think I'll try it for 3 days and see if it works
Where I live, the Huion 16 2021 is the same price as an S6 lite. Should I go with Huion or the S6 lite with Super Display. I don't know if it makes any difference, but I'll use it for sculpting in blender.

But did you know most artist in the East (Southeast Asia I mean) are all phone artist, but we don't have any stylus, we use our fingers, ibis Paint X users in phone uses fingers as stylus... I challenge you to do a full art on your phone without any stylus apart from your fingers, also try a cheap capacitive pen as well since some of us use them now after getting old and earn a bit of money...
SonarPen is a pen that you plug in through the headphones jack, and it can simulate pen pressure even on phones that don't have it naturally! Idk how cheap/expensive it is compared to the currency value on that side of the world, but still! People have created amazing art pieces with it, and it works on both Android and apple devices (for those without headphone jacks you'd just need an adapter)

Do you need USB 3.0 to use this feature? I'm asking because the Samnsung Tab9 FE does only have. 2.0 and that's the reason why it does not support Dex.
Few things about the Play Store. 1. You can refund pretty much anything retroactively. 2. If the app wasn't updated for 2 years, it's highly likely it will soon disappear from the Store. It won't be removed, only it will be hidden for new users. So if you already bought it, it will be accessable to you.
I have loved your vids ever since you uploaded best drawing apps for android. Now my question is what kind of computer do you have and what usb ports and usb cable do you have to charge your samsung galaxy tab s8 ultra, because when i plug mines in it just shows slow charging the green normal circle notification does not show up and it keeps on asking me to use supported charger. And when it does say charging it says like 8 hrs instead of the normal 2 hrs, as i dont like fast charging. Any workarounds to this would be greatly appreciated. love your content man.
My daughter has Galaxybook 12.0 with Spen. May I use it to connect my PC, or heavy laptop running Photohop, and Davinci Resolve Studio? Connect via USB-C, or via Wifi. Operating System of all are Windows 10.
With this, Sidecar and all the other alternative ways one can plug their tablet into their computer, it’s a bit of a shame the drawing performance has such a big drop when using these solutions. The iPad and Galaxy tabs when using natively easily compare or even beat the screen tablets in drawing experience, then it all goes to shit when you plug it in to a computer.
While the pen/touch input function is great for drawing/surfing, the lack of true mouse input for a mouse attached to a tablet is missing. Could easily replace moonlight/parsec if not for this.
that's because it emulates your tablet or any android device to become a native external monitor or a wintab which makes it feel really native. as we know, the monitor alone doesn't need any mouse in it as it does not have an operating system.

I have a tablet pc laptop , a lenovo thinkpad tablet , with a touch screen that supports stylus , however, the graphics card is potatoes and can't run photoshop or blender , it's been a good dog , but now it's old and now I got me a new desktop pc with rtx GPU , still , no touch or stylus , both have windows 10 , so I am looking for the right method to pair them together properly ! Can this app work ?! Or what should I do ?!

Another amazing app is virtual tablet this doesnt have a screen but makes your android a drawing pad for your pc there is a free and paid and the free version can be used with the wifi off and usb inserted. Thus allowing you to have the paid version for free. Its designed for the s-pen or you can use touch
You can use the app to set it up as a second monitor. So the answer is yes. I run games through it like that myself from time to time. Works great, particularly when connected via USB.

scrubby zoom is lagging when i press z and glide my stylus (i do not use touch input) . do you had this issue?

i love this as it allows me to have touch + pen input for my desktop + my laptop yet i still have a great tablet to take with me on the go

As far as I can tell it works perfectly for me in clip studio in terms of pressure sensitivity and accuracy.
Fun fact, you can turn on 120hz refresh rate if your tablet supports and it makes it more smooth

I've used this for animating on Toon Boom Studio on the Galaxy S7 Plus. So good and well worth it! The main feature it's like a wireless Cintiq.

the thing is your tablet is not on a wired connection. it's really hard to compare the wireless and wired connection in terms of performance.

It just hasn't needed updates. And he actually has a newer beta version of the app which (I think) is designed to work around the Ultra's camera notch. (The notch doesn't get in the way of any of my art apps, so I haven't tried it.)
On a different topic, I don't have any line pressure issues when I'm using desktop art apps through Superdisplay. And I use Superdisplay wired most the time.

Hello, you have better luck than me. I sent an email and a tweet kindly asking for help. The app is amazing and works flawlessly with my Galaxy Z fold 4 with S pen when I am using Windows 10. However when I am using windows 11 the button on the S pen doesn't work in photoshop or capture one or chrome. It right clicks if I right click on a blank space on the windows desktop, but not on any icons. On Windows 10 it does the right click function everyehere, but on windows 11 it doesn't function most of the time..
Can you please help me. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I installed the drivers and have the same settings in both versions of windows and the android app, I can't figure out what's going on.

@@Imwphotography The thing about Windows 11 is that all early adopters are taking a risk when it comes to software compatibility. I'm still on Windows 10 for this very reason.

@@trenton9100% about windows 11. It came pre-installed on my Laptop. I haven't heard back from Superdisplay, but I will for sure post if I hear anything.
Spacedesk is very similar to this for free. That is what I have been using with my S6 Lite.

this is the kind of thing I've been looking for my huion just completely stopped displaying I can still draw on it it but it's like having an early wacom tablet just a black surface. I'm curious did you have photoshop loaded on your tablet or your laptop? I've been wanting to use it with krita from my desktop machine. think I'll try it for 3 days and see if it works
you can also use it wirelessly using the built in "second screen" feature on samsung tablets!

Hey, Brad! This is good! But did you know most artist in the East (Southeast Asia I mean) are all phone artist, but we don't have any stylus, we use our fingers, ibis Paint X users in phone uses fingers as stylus...
I challenge you to do a full art on your phone without any stylus apart from your fingers, also try a cheap capacitive pen as well since some of us use them now after getting old and earn a bit of money...
SonarPen is a pen that you plug in through the headphones jack, and it can simulate pen pressure even on phones that don't have it naturally! Idk how cheap/expensive it is compared to the currency value on that side of the world, but still! People have created amazing art pieces with it, and it works on both Android and apple devices (for those without headphone jacks you'd just need an adapter)
It also works without a head phone jack you just don't get pressure sensitivity and button

No. I have it running on a usb 2 tablet.
Few things about the Play Store. 1. You can refund pretty much anything retroactively. 2. If the app wasn't updated for 2 years, it's highly likely it will soon disappear from the Store. It won't be removed, only it will be hidden for new users. So if you already bought it, it will be accessable to you.
The app was updated on 26 September 2023. It works with Android OS 5 and up. So it is good for a while yet.

I have loved your vids ever since you uploaded best drawing apps for android. Now my question is what kind of computer do you have and what usb ports and usb cable do you have to charge your samsung galaxy tab s8 ultra, because when i plug mines in it just shows slow charging the green normal circle notification does not show up and it keeps on asking me to use supported charger. And when it does say charging it says like 8 hrs instead of the normal 2 hrs, as i dont like fast charging. Any workarounds to this would be greatly appreciated. love your content man.

With this, Sidecar and all the other alternative ways one can plug their tablet into their computer, it’s a bit of a shame the drawing performance has such a big drop when using these solutions.
The iPad and Galaxy tabs when using natively easily compare or even beat the screen tablets in drawing experience, then it all goes to shit when you plug it in to a computer.

While the pen/touch input function is great for drawing/surfing, the lack of true mouse input for a mouse attached to a tablet is missing. Could easily replace moonlight/parsec if not for this.
that's because it emulates your tablet or any android device to become a native external monitor or a wintab which makes it feel really native. as we know, the monitor alone doesn't need any mouse in it as it does not have an operating system.

Hello i have some questins about app for samsung. I really like tab s9 ultra but im amateur photographer and normally im using lightroom and photoshop in my mac for my photos....
But no chance to download photoshop for samsung tablets (im not talking about photoshop express its not same fully version) and i know clip studio paint app for samsung but i want to ask....
For example, can I process my photos layer by layer? Or can I combine two photos? For example, can I delete the sky in a photograph and give it a space image? May i use clip studio app same like photoshop tablet version... or this app only for drawing

not possible with ipad. android device, yes. but android without pen support, i guess you're not going to enjoy it.
@@mksagal It does work on the Note models ( and later Ultra models that also have the S-pen) But not really ideal, the screen is way too small IMO

Another amazing app is virtual tablet this doesnt have a screen but makes your android a drawing pad for your pc there is a free and paid and the free version can be used with the wifi off and usb inserted. Thus allowing you to have the paid version for free. Its designed for the s-pen or you can use touch

You can use the app to set it up as a second monitor. So the answer is yes. I run games through it like that myself from time to time. Works great, particularly when connected via USB.
