As a person who has been whiplashed between Christianity and atheism, deism is the perfect fit for me and I am glad I have come to this conclusion as of recent. To me Deism make a whole lot of sense in that we know deep down there is a Creator but that religion is a man made thing. Deism has helped me regain my sanity and peace of mind.

Yeah. And when you start to really appreciate and begin to get curious about the world around you, an entire Universe opens up for you. It really makes you appreciate life and take the fullest self responsibility.

In my humble opinion it has more characteristics of a philosophical position, a way of seeing the world, a way of thinking and living. Not so much of "religion", which always has some taste of doctrine, "right" and "wrong" believes.

It looks like your vlogs have connected a lot of people who are out there trying to make sense of where they stand in this complicated existence, including myself.
Your last video was able to put some sort of tag on the way I was connecting with a God that I could have a conversation with without associating with any conforming religion, though the God I walk with has more direct influence on my life the what the deist edict might be.
Good luck on your journey and all the the people that have commented their ideals. I too found my life way too less stressful but also realise this gives more opportunities to explore appreciation and hopefully more service to others.

Awesome that we got a part 2!
I agree with you, my friend. Nothing recharges and renews me like time alone hiking in the woods. I don't get to do it nearly as often as I'd like to nowadays.
What happens after we die? Don't know. For me, heaven would be Middle Earth from Lord of the Rings.
Christians talk about heaven being free of pain and suffering. Honestly though...we NEED some pain, even if only sometimes. A totally pain-free existence would lead us to become very careless and shallow creatures. We would eventually stop appreciating the good things. Maybe in heaven, God could tweak it so that it's different though. But I don't know, so I don't make any hard claims about it.

I do consider myself to be an agnostic deist too. But I am always careful with such statements as "there is no such things as ...". I would rather argue that some things are more likely then others based on what we can observe in the world around us. Regarding so many things we just cannot know for sure, to claim otherwise without real arguments or evidence often seems arrogant to me.
So I'd say "To me it seems unlikely that, if a conscientious uncreated first cause to everything there is, exists, this being is likely not a personal God giving us written rules and guidelines, as portrayed in world religions ". Maybe the creator of everything hears our prayers, maybe not. I am not the one to know.

I just recently explored deism.. and it makes sense to me. I was an undertaker for 10 years. One of my last cases was picking up a 10 year old boy who got hit by a car chasing a ball into the street. I remember putting his lifeless blood-soaked body into a body bag and thinking, “how can a loving powerful God let this happen?” Like you said, there’s just too much shit in this world to justify an Omni-present God that is with us…

Hi just discovered your channel. I've been struggling for years about religion, spirituality etc. I really didn't know what it was until recently. There was some days I believed in god wholeheartedly and there was days I thought it was all crap. Like you I was hardwired to believe in god. My problem was the bible and religion. Seen the harm what both does to people. Especially ones who are marginalized. I felt like I was in a paradox. I believed in god and I didn't believe in god. I use to pray everyday and realized he or she didn't care or doesn't realize my existence. Because, it seems like he or she wasn't listening.
I came to the realization that maybe it's because god is unknowable. Created the universe and set it in motion, created the laws of nature and stood back without interfering in the affairs of our lives. That's when I came across deism. And suddenly it made sense to me. I will happily subscribe to your channel

I feel like I'm in a constant crisis of faith for years, tried out a lot of things, but nothing really stuck with me. Hey Man, new to the channel and digging this topic.
I always question my beliefs and try to play devil’s advocate (can I say that around here? LoL) and these are a few questions I came up with…
What about people that justify evil doings with God? Doesn’t deism sort of allow everyone to just validate whatever they want? Is this why we need things like commandments?
I’m gonna ponder these things but would be interested in hearing how you feel.

You should put out a podcast every week. You’re on to something big here…I think you’re more talented at this than you may know. Your vocal tone, enunciations, and ability to release your thoughts in a sensible manner is really good. I’ve known I was a deist for about 2 years now. I didn’t remember or realize what the word was for a higher power to create the world, but not intervene. Then I started googling it a few years ago, and was like “That’s it!” Deism is the only thing that makes sense to me at this point. But even as deist we are all a little different. I don’t believe in an afterlife, and I don’t even think the higher power cares. He created a machine, turned it on, and left. And I’m okay with that. Personally, I would rather not pray, wait, and be disappointed every time. I would rather just take action on what I can change, and let go of what I can’t. I know a higher power is not going to talk to me or save me. I’ll just take care of things myself.

I believe God's law is etched in us. We don't need books. We need self reflection, contemplation, and for me, a health dose the golden mean to beat a wobbly middle path through life.
I believe this world is a test or a lesson - after I have no idea what happens, and I have no idea if God listens. I don't think God intervenes and I don't think God is a sky daddy. For me, God is unknowable, separate but all pervading, completely out of my sphere of comprehension.

I have been through the same since I looked into Deism .. like I need to congregate...My mom is from the Seventh Day Adventist Church, and my Father is catholic... I do not believe in either of them.. would be awesome if you talk more about this.... I know there is a world deism church... Here in South America, there is one in Argentina but I haven't got the chance to go yet... PD: I love hiking as well... but since I've got my own family and sold my car it is more difficult.. another thing that stresses me is how to guide my family without the traditional Christian Doctrine guidance. Best Regards...Hope yoy read my comment.

The idea that we just snuff out into oblivion never made sense to me. Like you said, it's a waste when you consider the bigger picture. We were created to learn, grow and evolve in consciousness. This life isn't one-and-done. That idea is just another means of keeping people controlled through fear. There's nothing to fear at all. It's all a continuous journey of learning lessons and helping others. I think it would defeat the purpose if we knew all at once the whole cosmic truth of creation. We have to figure that out little by little.
Like Bill Hicks said, "we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively." The Creator and Creation are one, ultimately. That makes us lower-case-c creators. We can either create peace and freedom on earth or suffering and slavery. We have to figure out the formula, the requirements, through trial and error. Unfortunately, there are forces at work that want to keep that truth from us. It's the constant battle between good and evil, but we have to understand and recognize the objective difference so we don't get duped. Sadly, we've been duped for a long, long time. We have to get our shit together now, and enter our cosmic adulthood. We are the saviors we've been waiting for.

A friend texted me links about Deisim'
I find it interesting that our society creates its own problems and will ask why God lets these things happen.
God does not create problems, man does.
God said not to eat the forbidden fruit.
Adam and Eve did. So, at this time if they know more than God, they can fix their own problems.
It has been like that ever since.
Genesis chapter 12, God told Abraham to sacrifice his son.
God stopped him from doing that, this was to test Abraham's faith, not for Gods sake but for Abrahams.
God further fortold the future of Abraham in verses 1 to 3.
This was the start of the covenants which were only for the Jews which they disobeyed through out history.
Again, they created their own problems.
Much more can be said, but the purpose today is only one command.
That is to "BELIEVE",,,,,, Thats it, just believe.
The most comprehensive history book ever written has examples of these things.
Choose good or bad, right or wrong, your choice
If now you believe, you are promised eternal life with no evil no pain no bad health no aging.
This life, "thanks to Adam not obeying" is only for us to choose.
    Choose wisely.

It's very strange that suffering in our personal hell is what leads men to seek, and finally to find spiritualism. I can see it in you. I recognize it. 4:45 This is a belief that one can only hold if they do not know enough about this world. The more one learns about the horrors that take place in this realm, and have been taking place since the beginning of time itself, the more one is forced to realize that this reality is the exact opposite of a "miracle." We are in a prison. I'm saying this as a point of fact. This is proven by the evil and unspeakable suffering that has existed within untold numbers of souls (human or otherwise) and has existed for untold ages and will continue forever indefinitely so long as each new generation of beings are incarnated/imprisoned here through the 666 act of sexual reproduction (look up "666 in Greek" in a Google image search for a revelation). No amount of trivial mundane "pleasures" justify these things, and there is no end to it in sight. Everything else is a delusion to distract one from this truth.

  • @PostNostalgos

I find it interesting that you used the word "cope" - because it implies you're a victim in some way; as if you're not in control. Heaven is already at hand; within and not without. Our society is built to trick us into being in love with the material, your so-called passion for the more hedonistic aspects are a trap as well. Everything that's presented by the news, tv, music videos, celebrities; all tricks in order to get us to not examine ourselves. "Smoking a doobie on the beach and playing guitar" as your coping mechanism is still focused on this fleshy existence. I'm not saying its right or wrong. This is your journey to take and examine. Take the "bullshit" aspects of your life as part of the overall lesson. Be grateful. There's a lesson in every aspect of our daily life that we're blind to become we've been convinced its just another part of the monotony.
Is there a heaven and hell? To me it doesn't matter. I stopped caring and it's a silly question. Life is too full of hardships, especially when it involves children, and it appears that Satan has integrated himself into every aspect of what we take in through the media, schools, and even churches.
You can have "church" just by talking to another person about these subjects. "Where two or more are gathered in my name, I am there." Like I said before, the Kingdom of Heaven is already within and not without. You don't need a dumb preacher to tell you how to think or how to interpret scripture. That knowledge is already within us. Its knowledge that we're born with and its the trauma we go through as children and blinds us.
Thanks for the video. It was interesting.

Deism is irrational. It asserts that everything was created but that the creator then just stepped away. So why create in the first place?
Deism is effectively the same as atheism, as believing God is not present is the same, in practical terms, as believing there is no God.
If you reject all the man made trappings of religion, as I think you should, why cling to the belief in God, having stripped away the foundational falsehoods that promote it? Take that last step to atheism and you will find even more peace.

Another common and interesting claim is that God is perfect.
This too raises the question, why create?
If God was perfect in and of itself, it would have no desires and no curiosity, as these things stem from a perceived lack of something.
A perfect being would be fully self contained and self sustaining and thus would not create anything outside of itself.

@@theReal.JuanDelaCruz It's not really about being satisfied. That feeling would require being aware that things could be different but choosing not to change. As I said, a perfect God would be self contained. Complete and with no thought of satisfaction or dissatisfaction and with no desires or even interests or curiosity.
As for Genesis, we now know and can prove that the creation story is just mythology.
In fact the whole of the Pentateuch/Torah is mythology. From the creation to the conquest of the promised land, science, biblical scholarship and archaeology has shown that none of it ever happened.
