Reading the comments and everyone is saying evil things about Dylan. I didn't know that among all the firsts he did he was the first husband to ever get divorced. They had 10 years together, Bob took care of her child, and it's a personal story that Dylan the artist has the ability to express many sentiments to us with. We don't know what happened, we know what the gossip rags were saying. The biggest, most influential rock artist ever had many temptations, and likely fell for one. It's all hard, people make different choices.
Ten years doesn't see like a long time for a marriage to me, especially a marriage that involved five small children. I think Robert A Zimmerman wanted a nurturing, devout, Jewish woman to have his/their children and to be there for them and to raise them in a Jewish tradition. Sara was perfect in that role.
He was good at having good photographers on hand to help craft the images he wanted to portray. Were his young wife and children part of the role that he was 'destined to play' for a decade.
She’s very dark and pretty. They both seem happy when with their children. I like that he has his hand on her shoulder in one of the photos. He didn’t seem to do that with Joan. She looks older than he does. I’m sure marriage in the limelight was difficult for both of them. Hope they’re both happy now.
Great song and collage of your beautiful Jewish wife, Bob. Are you ever going to send me a DVD with the song you composed for me out 'Like a Rolling Stone'? It will mean a lot to me if you sign it. Sara probably has artistic creativity on several levels. However, when a woman has 5 children in a short period of time, even with housekeepers and nannies, there is not much time for painting classes in NYC. She was probably busy painting with her small children, but Bob never understood her. Bob was right from his side (Norman Raeban, non linear painting lessons in NYC) and Sara was right from hers (Faridi McFree art lesson to Dylan's children) and It was just one too many mornings and a thousand miles behind. Most married women don't understand their husbands when they have affairs with the nanny. On some level, he probably loved most of the women in his life, broke up with them, wrote songs, and moved on. Agree with you that he is probably lonely for the things he couldn't have. Suze, Joan, Sara and others all at the same time. I like most of his music, but he seems pathetic when he switches from wisdom to victim. @@latitudeselongitudes1932

This song is a great, great, heartbreaking, poetic creation. And every word of it is probably 100% sincere and heartfelt . . . but that is only part of the story. Because it was also true that this guy was a world-class womanizer who while married to the mother of his four children, was hitting on everything that moved and his wife was well aware of it for years before she finally had enough. Sara Dylan came downstairs in their house once and found one of his one-night stands at the breakfast table with their children present. When you consider Sara and then Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands two beautiful songs for a beautiful woman it makes you wonder what happened between them. I'm not about to judge, but it would have been interesting had they stayed together.
Many women never wonder what happened between them--we know from experience. Most married women can forgive a few infidelities, but after years of such bad behavior they stop believing the lies, especially if it is accompanied with drugs and booze. Statements from Bob such as "she never understood me because I took painting lessons in NYC, etc, etc" and "I never knew how to be a good husband" (both appear in his book) makes him seem so shallow. Robert Zimmerman aka Bob Dylan had several wonderful men in his life who showed him how to be a good husband: his father, several uncles, grandfathers, brother David, cousins, men in the church and community, teachers, to mention a few. Because he could write good lyrics and perform them in special ways, he thought that the rules of marriage didn't apply to him. He made the choice to be a 'bigger than Elvis', rather than to be a good husband. He knows/knew the truth--he doesn't think that it applies to him. So he buys companionship, just like he buys good musicians and backing bands. The story is an ancient--again made fresh.
He got her back, at least for a while, with this song. Well, can you blame her? Even if he was a rascal and a cheat, how could you resist having Bob Dylan write a song about you?
Separate the artist from the man..He was a tricking daddy that that couldn't function without acting out his lothario personality on everyone..Yes Celebrity icon of the 60's..Not impressed..He had it all..and like sand in an hourglass he let it all slip through his hands..and now he has nothing..The ultimate sin is to use his Songwriting skills to make right in his song what he made wrong in his life...Flesh of Flesh..Bone of Bones..Love of loves..Sarah...
Sara just couldn't take it anymore, and yet in pictures it was clear he loved her. George Harrison took many pictures of the family, and Bob looked the most peaceful and happy when with them. It's sad. I think I have to separate the artist from the man. He's the greatest artist of our generation. That doesn't mean he didn't cause others pain. He clearly regrets it.
Bob, you had the love of your life and mother of your children, a beautiful and soulful woman. She truly loved you and was devastated when you cheated on her. There was no need to. You could have been an example to others of your generation. I can still see her now closed in her bedroom with blankets on the windows to block out the sun. She always responded to you when you needed her help. Send her some flowers and a note to thank her for all she id to you and your kids and send her a heart box filled with dark chocolate candy and ask her to forgive you now..Even now. It is never too late Bob.
Its always the mans fault right sugar? It couldnt have anything to do with her being bipolar and divorce settlement greedy could it? Bob had his pick. Why he chose that goofy looking chick baffles me. In the right light she looks ok but if you look at other photos nooo way. A man with that talent and money deserves and should demand more. That said, shes not his ugliest wife.
@@Bob-fz7pd LOL! oh okay = now climb on out of your basement and get some REAL LOVE from an actual HUMAN Being . I promise THAT WILL make you feel better .This aint working for you. you're welcome! poor baby ...
She got a lot of money from the divorce settlement. It wasnt that he left her in financial poverty. He was living the disolute lifestyle and she didnt want it. Different value systems. Maybe she didnt satisfied him sexually. Many couples from their generation didnt know how to communicate sexually and emotionally. Maybe he got bored of the married parenting life.
No te vayas

Why bring Joan into it..that was years ago? Why not mention Suze, Susan, Carolyn plus the rest too? Dylan’s true love is Dylan. Bob is also partially responsible for the demise of Edie Sedgwick too. She was genuinely in love with him, and he strung her along, said they would make a film together in Hollywood, Edie even introduced Bob to Andy, which was the end of her friendship with Andy..only to have Dylan call her to say, oh, by the way, I just got married. Edie didn’t get over that betrayal, the realising that he had been lying to her the whole time about everything, just stringing her along...so with the Dylan affair and any prospect of a future serious film career kyboshed, and having been pretty much ghosted by Andy, she just returned to California to die really, and she did.

The little boy on the left side was born in 1966.
I miss the beautiful harmonica intro.............
Liam Clancy must’ve bought her that Arran cardigan
He got her back, at least for a while, with this song. Well, can you blame her? Even if he was a rascal and a cheat, how could you resist having Bob Dylan write a song about you?
His behavior with her was disgusting
I know a girl called Sarah this is her.
Boy, how can you let a woman like that slip through your fingers?
Stevie has a song called sara too hmmmmmm
Omg whats w you stevie nicks people?
Sammy Scotch what’s with u bob dylan people
@@CScripture the video is about bob dylan and his wife sara. Its has nothing to do w s nicks
Sounds like ur judging Stevie nicks anyway they both took drugs and made music 👍
A relation of Stevie Nicks was a big cheese in the Greyhound Bus Company. Greyhound Bus began in Hibbing, MN. Discuss...
She married you for your voice
etre Sara juste un jour
She must've put up with a lot from him. Not the easiest man to live with
Separate the artist from the man..He was a tricking daddy that that couldn't function without acting out his lothario personality on everyone..Yes Celebrity icon of the 60's..Not impressed..He had it all..and like sand in an hourglass he let it all slip through his hands..and now he has nothing..The ultimate sin is to use his Songwriting skills to make right in his song what he made wrong in his life...Flesh of Flesh..Bone of Bones..Love of loves..Sarah...
Bob will be singing for eternity he is saved
He admittedly willingly signed a contract with the devil to obtain his fame. And now regrets it.
Has nothing?
Bob, you had the love of your life and mother of your children, a beautiful and soulful woman. She truly loved you and was devastated when you cheated on her. There was no need to. You could have been an example to others of your generation. I can still see her now closed in her bedroom with blankets on the windows to block out the sun. She always responded to you when you needed her help. Send her some flowers and a note to thank her for all she id to you and your kids and send her a heart box filled with dark chocolate candy and ask her to forgive you now..Even now. It is never too late Bob.
What made her change? you
Its always the mans fault right sugar? It couldnt have anything to do with her being bipolar and divorce settlement greedy could it? Bob had his pick. Why he chose that goofy looking chick baffles me. In the right light she looks ok but if you look at other photos nooo way. A man with that talent and money deserves and should demand more. That said, shes not his ugliest wife.
@@Bob-fz7pd maybe he doesn’t solely go after looks. one of the most deep and profound men ever I would doubt to be shallow in love.
@@Bob-fz7pd He had very little when he met her.

Sara..Sara
Nunca me dejes ... No te vayas
I threw it all away y if you see her say hello probably.
Why did you leave her. You belonged to each other. Her beauty matched yours. You got 4 beautiful children together, and you Bob, got a bonuschild. I blame (curse)!those women, who seduced you. With no thougt of Sara. Joan did her best, to get you. Her voice could drive ppl mad. Not good looking either. She shouldn't cut her hair.Sara has high status, she and only her is regarded as your true love. ♥️🌹💞🙏
Soo well written ,soo true,A beautiful looking girl .im sure he provided for her and the children ,and that was his responsibility, Sara is better off without him...i love his music been listening to it since 1965....and yes i dont know why Joan ever sang next to him.i felt she was always out of tune....
A tad harsh but informed and informative

@@virginiaviola5097 Didn't know that part of history. Thanks for telling us. Have you seen Bob's chart. Everything is about Bob and his music. He was born that way, totally self involved and a genius. He can't help himself. I think he is getting softer in his old age. I would love to know what goes on inside his head but so would all the philosophers that study him. He is definitely one of a kind. I feel lucky to have photographed him at the Castle and gotten to know him a bit. It is all a mystery don't you know.
Don't like this version.....
