I moved to Turkey 4 years ago and living in Levent area. Turkish people try to trick u in terms of little everyday things. They see u are a foreigner , the price of each fruit, vegetable, taxi goes up. Even grocery bills/ Gratis shops bill go up when they know u don't understand turkish. Even teachers who home tutor kids asked double the amount than what was agreed upon for tuition. Tenants don't vacate your property if u are a foreigner. We faced a lot of bad days in Istanbul. Govt officials are rude esp ladies.
I know a lot of Italians came after corona and also to avoid the changes in western society. The Turkish language is beautiful but difficult, I personally love Istanbul for a couple of months at a time, working from home and enjoying a wonderful city plus I made good friends easily despite my basic Turkish. Good friends who, like you say, really care that everything is going well for you, not just superficial. A good country!
As a canadian if i was on this podcast i would drop the ceiling about western life and why people including myself are considering relocating to turkey.
It would be so helpful to hear more about some legal suff for foreigners (buying retirement property ,visas needed to stay, how long per year is possible to stay, does family and friends can come to visit or to stay even the owner is not present, who can inherit the property when the time comes.etc. etc?)
I watch every single one of your videos, but I believe this is the best video you have made. Your opinions describing the USA and Turkey/Istanbul. The quality of information in the video will be hard for some people to understand, but I can assure all them that everything said in this video is 100% factual.
Turkey seems to have what people secretly want--a real community, which helps keep people sane/polite. When I travel to Eastern Europe it's so relaxing to not hear "dat wayciss" for weeks--wonderful. I felt more creative away from the constant nonsense. And as a Southerner I didn't have to hear the constant attacks on my region and people and symbols either and that was great. Can't wait to visit Turkey.
I've been staying here for the past 18 months and things are not all that easy for foreigners. The language barrier is HUGE....most Turks barely speak English. And I agree with one of the previous comments that as a foreigner, you get overcharged for literally everything. It seems like we're looked at as easy money. The country itself is incredibly beautiful and the people are generally helpful and friendly...with the occasional exceptions. I must admit that it's very hard to fit in, especially with the language barrier being so huge. I've never encountered this in any of the other countries I've been to, so take that into account when you move here. It's shocking how few people speak English.
Very much appreciated! It is refreshing to hear the honest conversation, and to address the issues that your audience is actually looking for. Along with everything that Turkey has to offer, the sanity of a reasonably traditional society tops the list. In future episodes, it would be helpful if you could continue to address your Muslim audience by providing guidance on which parts of Istanbul continue to be popular with Muslim expats looking for conservative family-friendly areas.
May Allah SWT bless Turkey and it's beautiful people from Pakistan 🙂🇵🇰🇹🇷🥰😍. Mashallah mashallah marhaba marhaba love respect and support Turkey and it's beautiful people from Pakistan 🙂🇵🇰🇹🇷🥰😍
❤❤❤ Great to see Nazer again!! Love the guy. It was wrong you kept him away from us for so long!! 😝 As a person who’s met the brother, he is as genuine and loving in real life as he is here. Sorry to sound cheesy…I just miss him although I’ve only met him once 😊
A very interesting video from the point of view of a foreigner wanting to live in Turkiye. A very frank discussion on subject matters that can cause a lot of controversy in many parts of the world, even though there is a lot of truth on what was discussed.I live in a so-called Free country with freedom of speech etc…it is a myth today to believe so and if you’re not careful you could get yourself in a lot of trouble. People’s personality are being forced to change to comply with what is or not acceptable by today’s society. I love Turkiye,it’s friendly people and delicious food ❤
Turkey is not an easy place to move to. The first barrier is language.....you absolutely need to be fluent in Turkish...relying in Google translate will only get you so far.
Great video! I live in an affluent Chicago suburb where I may not lock my doors all the time and I feel completely OK as I go for a walk in the neighborhood. However, only 20 miles away from my neighborhood in southside Chicago, I would not dare even drive through the hoods. Even in good neighborhoods, every now and then, I think of mass shootings. Last months during Chicago auto show, as my friends and I were entering, the first thing after entering we said to each other was that there were absolutely no metal detectors to prevent someone from entering the venue with America’s rifle of choice, AR15 😢. I’ve been to Türkiye nine times and I have never felt any sense of danger or fear. To see a bunch of Russian girls at 2 o’clock in the morning in the streets of Istanbul partly drunk from clubs and parties is not unusual. If the same were to happen in Chicago, LA, Atlanta, and other major cities in the US, whether we like to hear it on or not, it would be a different story.
Beautiful programme My ancestors were engineers & architexts from izmir Went to india for many years I have lived in uk since childhood Went to north cyorus in 2002 had an apartment there Made gorgeous friends I think Turkey is the best place in the world Hope to move there As a muslim i cant think of a better country Hope to visite konya for maulana rumi Many thanks for your video Allah bless you 🙏
Hi ALAATTIN KILIC. I brutish Citizen watched a lot of RUclips video that sounds real state professional. It would help if you can advise me on how to sort out my apartment problem with the tenant. I bought an apartment in Sisli in November 2021 for retirement life medical treatment at the time I was a bit sick so I left Istanbul back to the UK. My agent advised me to leave it to rent for a year, then when I come back you will definitely get back, as foreign didn't know when you sign the rental lease it is not for one year but it is for ten years, so on December 2022 the tenant will not accept to move out and needs another year, I suspect there is probably money in between the agent and the tenant. Today I was in touch with a few lawyers asking for different prices and are not sure if I can move into my apartment. As a foreign retired person who wants to move into my apartment to book some medical treatment, it is harder to gain back my apartment. Thanks.
Hi Aladdin I am interested in buying a house in turkey Istanbul, but on mortgage not to far from ayyup sultan fateh please if you can help me to do the wright choice
Turkiye is better investment than other alternatives, It's a good bet. Too much of everything, the entire country is a museum, boaters paradise, best location ever, gate to the east and west.....
I don't know when the subcontinent got the Arabic Islamic concept which makes people confused and wrong conservative direction. I studied about Ataturk in my junior school and described the most prosperous country think such a topic was removed from kids' books. All planned and Pakistani studied the wrong history and wrong religion concept.
I feel safer in Turkey, but you are more aware of civil unrest in neighboring countries (Russia, Syria). America isn't very safe especially for children or women.
I love Turkey and the videos that Property Turkey had, but the generalization that everyone is too sensitive about racisim in the United States, is quite insensitive. There is racism and when you are someone who is the victim of racism, it is not easy. When those individuals who have the white privelege can do whatever they want and there's nobody calling them out when they are racist, they will continue to be that way and get worse. You need to be here to understand. Meanwhile, don't get me started with gender identity. Until you understand what suffering that people, both adults and children go through when they have a gender identity problem, please don't opine on it. I think you should try to understand these cultural issues before you opine and call it crazy.
Alattin and Neza -You mean you guys are NOT interested to join in the Drag Queen Story Hour in my local library that just started a few minutes ago? It goes on for several hours. If you hurry up, you will make it 😅. I’ll save your seats 😅. Don’t worry, it’s a very safe environment. You may see a genderless bathroom with silhouettes of a man, a woman and an alien on a plaque that reads “Whatever …Just Wash Your Hands”. 😂 #MurikaDuped #OyVey
Hi, This is Alaattin. Among all the positive comments, yours seems to be the only negative one. I'd very much like to hear your point of view. What has disappointed you?
Hello Alattin....I actually did not watch the video all the way to the end....no disrespect to you or Nezin....but it seemed the video was becoming more about right/left politics etc....and speaking personally, that is not why I watch Property Turkey's videos. However, please don't take my comment as being overly negative....it was just my feeling watching this particular video. You and the team at Property Turkey produce fantastic content and it is impossible to please everyone all of the time. Keep up the good work and get Cameron to give you a pay rise!👏👍❤️

Yes, definitely grass is not all green. Nationalism on steroids has gotten into the heads of government officials.
Thanks for providing a glimpse at the ground reality for outsiders like myself.
They most certainly do try to rip foreigners off. I never tolerated it.
Not just for you love, it goes up for everyone. The prices are all visual
I thought you talking about Pakistan

Nez isn't a foreigner though. Even though he had to adjust, he's still a Turk. You should have had an actual foreigner there answering the questions.
We have covered the opinions of foreign clients who have moved to Turkey. Check out our list of customer testimonial videos
I’m from the Netherlands and live in Istanbul now and the struggle of learning the Turkish language is real. And making friends is hard

Viva Turkeye !
What percentage of people in Istanbul would you say speak English?
100% agree on the genderless BS
Turkey needs to do a lot to improve accepting others look at what their racists are doing to Syrians and others

I appreciate that you spoke out against the alphabet agenda.
