I have the same dishwasher and this will now be my 2nd time replacing that part. The first time I replaced this till now only lasted a handful of months. I trusted LG dishwashers for their reliability.. time to trash this and get a solid bosch!
@@danz5811 sorry to hear that. its been over a year now with my bosch dishwasher and not a single issue. Works great, its quiet and cleans the dishes very well. If you have a costco membership buy it from there!
Got an nE code, Called LG, they send their own techs and was told by their LG tech it was going to cost over $700 to repair plus parts ( LG said part was 10 yr warranty) and I have to pay $125 to LG for service charge. 2016 model LDF774 … way to take advantage of people. Thanks for posting, need to track down part.
The rust is due to that black seal leaking. If you replace that motor again make sure to replace the seal at the same time because the water is what’s damaging the motor. -LG tech
WHY does that gasket fail? No reason to think new gasket will do better than original. Would rather cut a new gasket plus sealer, or, use a "form-a-gasket" paste.
Thanks much, this worked for me! Mine did have the plastic cover, but from the side there was an opening just large enough for me to access that part and the associated switch. I did have to use my offset screwdriver which was a pain but sure beat trying to remove that cover.
For those that have the big black plastic cover on the bottom, turn the dishwasher completely upside down and on the back there should be two Philips head screws that are inline horizontally, remove these. There may be a third screw that is offset, don't remove this one, it holds an internal component in place (ask me how I know). On the front, there's a spring mechanism on each side to assist with the door raising/lowering, unhook these (do not disassemble the spring mechanism itself). Remove the screw that holds the access panel on the bottom of the dishwasher and remove the panel itself. With all of the above removed, wiggle/pull the black cover straight up. It should release and create enough room to access the diverter motor (it won't come completely off). To reassemble, just reverse the order of the preceding steps. As others have mentioned, I found it worthwhile to change the seal and the microswitch while I was in there. I hope this helps!
Could you explain how you went about replacing the microswitch? I got frustrated and drilled a hole in the black plastic so my screwdriver could reach the screw on the diverter motor.
Awesome video!! Thank you for putting this out there!! I had a textbook fault, got the part on Amazon for 34. & replaced in less than an hour!! Problem gone!!! Hats off to you!!!
Did you do anything special to align the star pattern? When I put the cam on my new motor, it was not lined up the right way. So I used the cam to turn the inner piece to match up and then put it on the motor. However, the nE code remains.
Got the ne error code (vario motor) on my 3-year old LG model #LDF5545BD. Watched some videos and ordered the part for $27. Once we turned the dishwasher on it’s side, we saw the entire bottom was covered with a one-piece black plastic moulding. There was also a smaller white plastic cover which we were able to remove. I could see the vario motor - problem is, there is no way to access it to replace it! I’m convinced LG added this black plastic cover to newer dishwashers to prevent us from being able to fix it🤬 Please help! Does anyone know how to remove this one-piece black cover?
Same with LDF5545ST, I thought I was smart enough to overcome the giant black cover, but alas, I was not. Because of the cover, there is no way to unscrew the vario motor and swap it out. I'm just gonna buy a bosch, fuck LG.

I have a repair tech here and my lg dishwasher is only 2 years old . He took a plate off bottom but it doesnt allow access to motor area. He is now trying to take entire base off. Is there an easier way? Did LG change the design of the access plate?
I’m sure you have it figured out by now, but for anyone just now having to do this, there are 2 screws on one side holding the bottom “tub” in place. Remove those and the entire tub will lift off or at least partially, giving you enough space to work.
I'm having a problem sliding it back in. There's all kinds of hoses on the left side. I tried to make it go in kind of kitty corner and it won't work. Any suggestions?
My LG dishwasher has the same code. We have replaced the motor on it twice! and it still happens. The dishwasher will run its full cycle and at the last one minute mark the code pops up any help would be appreciated.
I have same code issue "nE". It says a defect in vario motor is located. Then it says, "nozzle". Should I replace the vario motor as well like you did or the nozzle?
I have the same problem in my dishwasher.can i fix it by self? Is the plastic piece easy to get it from any where around the world like iraq for example?

If you are going to repair this yourself also change out the micro switch that works with the motor, another 20 bucks but saves you from doing this twice

Are these part numbers universal across all LG DWs?
Did you put the D-washer on its side or is this the back of washer?
The part is located underneath the washer. We just flipped it forward onto one of our standing mats.
