At 11:28 in the background we see an immaculate 1959 Cheverolet El Comino "sport utility" vehicle. This is a pick-up truck like vehicle, except the open truck-bed in an integral part of the cab, unlike real pick-up trucks which are defined by the fact that the cab is utterly disconnected from the truck-bed. This model and style El Comino was made for just two model years (1959 & 1960). That one might be worth as much as $85,000 to $100,000. Four have sold this year for over $90,000. Of course we only see the back exterior, and those prices assume the entire machine is in near perfect condition.

Seeing Rhett driving that ‘64 Corvair with Matt reminds me of myself. When I was 18 I was driving my dad’s ‘63?Corvair that he bought when we moved to Minnesota. It had great traction in the snow compared to our other cars due to the weight of the rear engine over the drive wheels. But it was a bear to steer out of a skid due to the light front end having only marginal authority over what was happening in the back. I might have kissed a couple curbs back then. That was 1969.
I’m 71 years old now and drive drive a 4WD Tesla that can do everything for me. How times have changed.

Ed’s cameo was of him walking around talking trash with a lit cigarette. Gotta love it!
I learned how to make pancakes from a character like Ed named Ralph whom was a custom home builder. Ralph was 9000 years old, smoked a pack of camels every day since he was 12 and could keep pace with a fit 20 year old. Ralph bought a new BMW for his wife and kid, he drove an old Dodge truck. The trick to pancakes is add sugar to the batter and low heat cooked with butter. The sugar caramelizes and makes the outside crispy.
Much love for the Eds and Ralphs of this world!

When I got out of the army in 1975, my dad gifted me a 60 corvair that one of my nieces had driven for half a day with the oil light on. I found a donar that I only had to provide the headlights and instrument cluster out of. The rest was mine! Swapped the engine, gave the rest to my uncle's body shop and I was on my way! The reason for this comment is that my 60 had an option that you REALLY need. It had a gas heater! There is nothing like going out to a Bountiful winter morning firing up the engine, then listening to the burner ignite when you push the heater knob! Granted it took the mileage from about 25 with the heat off to 19 with the heat on, but it was well worth it!

Throttle your addiction Matt, if you are actively using the parts then it is healthy to have spares. Be aware of the front wheels on the yellow rail. They look to be magnesium American racing, 15” twelve spokes. From the video the wheels look good externally but moisture inside the tires will absolutely destroy the structure of the magnesium. If you’d want to sell them for display with dragsters of the period, I’d be interested. But either way give them a good check out before driving on them, don’t want anyone hurt.

When I was racing Corvairs I would of loved some of the parts you and your Crew Gleaned in this video! For the untrained eye this buy looks like junk. To a Vair
fan this was a great purchase! Thanks for the video! ----Dave Hollingsworth in New London,Ohio
