- Hey! I am so excited to be continuing this Whole House Declutter series!! This is episode 2, where I am decluttering our kitchen!! I started out by decluttering in the front of our house (office, guest bedroom, entryway & part of the kitchen) in episode 1 → • DECLUTTER YOUR HOME | ... and as we continue, I'll be going through each room in our house & decluttering all the things that we no longer need or use! The satisfaction at the end of a long declutter...I always had goodnight sleep whenever I decluttered and arranged my space
Decluttering is one of my favorite things to do. I recently helped a friend declutter her whole kitchen. Her counters were covered in stuff. She sends me pictures of her beautiful clean kitchen on occasion. I’d say another benefit is less anxiety. I had more anxiety not being able to find things because I had too much stuff. The Minimal Mom on RUclips helped so much when she said that everything in your home is inventory in your brain- you have to store it, maintain it, clean it.
Oh I love hearing that about you helping your friend! And so true!! Anxiety is absolutely something that happens with excess clutter!
Being a cancer patient it’s making it very hard for me to keep up on things. When I get out of the hospital this time we are starting this. We live in a very small apartment so it is needed.

I finished cancer treatment 8 weeks ago. There are still days that I am so tired. Don’t push yourself. I’m praying for you.
I totally agree with decluttering and do it all the time. I don’t agree with the throw away society though. If you love to sew and it is just not the season of life right now it’s okay to keep that. When you are ready again it will feel like you reconnected with a dear friend. In the 45 years I have owned my sewing machine I have gone through this many times and it always feels good to go back it. Don’t be in too much of a hurry to get rid of everything. If it truly something that “sparks you joy” then keep it ❤

I love decluttering, and its such an eye opener about what I have. Its so easy to shut the cabinet and forget whats in there. Out of sight, out of mind.

I wish I had the availability to declutter my entire kitchen at once. Not only is it huge (we have more cabinets than 2 families need) but I lose focus and cant string that amount of time together. I recently started working in there, however and I do one cabinet or drawer at a time. I take everything out, clean it, laying in new liners and only putting back what I know I want. So far, so good
You do really well at decluttering, thats for sure. Keep it up

I'm here in Prescott taking care of my sister. She came thru surgery perfectly and shud be up and around in a few weeks. It's been mid to high 70s which is great for this Southern California girl hahaha. But going to get low 60s for the high starting Wednesday brrrr...

I find going by sections in my kitchen helps it not feel as overwhelming. If my kiddos need something or I have an interruption, I can stop without leaving a huge mess everywhere and pick up where I left off. I love Dana White's advice.

love how you've decided to deculutter your kitchen....It's never easy.....the other sense tells you to keep it, but idealy you do not need it.That was a big step....For me am afraid to declutter my closet but seeing this. Am ready to do i think someone else will need it more than me. I think the cat is olllie❤

I love your kitchen! I’ve gone through my kitchen so many times trying to declutter and come up with the best layout for functionality. We have a very small kitchen so it’s difficult to store things.
I need to declutter the office. Right now it’s a drop zone for everything and anything. I’m currently in the planning stages of a makeover for that space to make it a dual function space for my husband and I. He needs a space for working on the computer and I need a space to do my hair and makeup. Office/Glam Room combo, definitely not typical but works for us.

I've been using one trick I learned from you. I declutter and put things I haven't used in a while in a box and put it in my garage for 6 mos. If I don't go looking for it, I donate it at the end of the 6 mos. It has really been great and I've donated so much stuff. Thanks for the energy to tackle my kitchen today. Still some to go through but at least I've started. I also think Ollie was the kitty in the closet.

I am in the midst of decluttering pj sets! 🫣That’s enough! I always like comfort and that needs to be my focus! I have sets that are too too thick. I believe that was INSPECTOR Felix! 😉He likes cabinets/closets and was getting into them before you had Ollie!🤣He also is usually where you work or film. Amanda hi!!! It is so satisfying to declutter but unfortunately here in Greece we don’t have yard sales or shops where we can donate …. Most of the times only a friend or a neighbor may need something. I have many things that now I know I will not use them but no one to give them…

Amanda, I love these decluttering series. Your first episode gave me such motivation I talked with my husband about some of the things we’ve been holding onto. My grandmother gave me some things and now hearing what you said about your sewing items not using them makes you sad. Thats more motivation to fill my boxes I have. I have 4 boxes so far ready for donations. I have so many of my grandmother’s cookbooks I never use them. My mom has a lot still. I decided to keep just a few and I’m donating all the rest. My kids will more likely not use cookbooks my husband said. So Amanda I want to thank you so much. You are truly amazing. Your videos are so motivating and calming to watch. 🤍
💡 Cabinet Next to Dishwasher: What if you drilled holes and add a cabinet shelf to use more vertical space 😊 OR add a pullout drawer like the one for your cleaning rags

I am totally envious of your large drawers you have - would not even be possible in my home and it makes decluttering/cleaning out makes it very difficult because even with "necessary" things . . . .just no space . . trying to be creative but I DO enjoy seeing your wonderful spacious kitchen.

I've been reading that book by Dana K. White. A lot of what she writes I've been doing for years. I particularly like the idea of taking care of the "visual clutter".

I myself feel like it's reasonable to have 2 weeks worth of clothing so 14 pants and 14 shirts. And the reason I say that is because if your washer goes down or your dryer goes down, at least you have plenty of backup. That's just what I think.

I don’t know about you, but when I declutter. I feel so much peace and almost like I have weight off my shoulders. It’s hard though when you want to declutter and you have to fight others in your household to get rid of things they don’t need or us. 😂
I’m going to guess it was Ollie taking a tour of your cabinet! 😁Your comment of “I’m adding more peace by taking extra away” really got me. I definitely need to keep repeating that as I go through my entire house! This past weekend I was working on my kitchen counters & I was able to get rid of some things because I actually admitted to myself that I was never going to use them & it felt so good to let it go. I even took some items down to storage instead of just leaving them sitting out like I had been doing. I’m so ready to get back to decluttering my house. Hopefully I can get a bunch more done this coming weekend! I think it’s great your letting the boys work the garage sale & allowing them to keep the funds - what a great learning tool for them!! P.S. it was so sweet to see Emma, Ollie, Felix, & Benji all together!’
