Another way to play flashlight hide n seek is to make shapes with your cricut , (we called it a bear hunt, made bears) hide them all over the house. Using just flashlights find them!

I am 64 yrs old and learned that lettuce hack when I was 16 at my first job doing food prep at a pizzeria
I still do it to this very day and all my girls do it as well.

Amanda, you are so cute about the iceberg lettuce hack. Your MIL must by my age. I learned this from my mother growing up and do it all the time. I find it crazy that the younger generation don't know about this. How time flies and interesting to find that some things fell off due to families not learning from earlier generations because of all the changes and disconnect. I love seeing how you and your family stay connected and realize how important that is.

I love that you added food prep in this video especially since its keto. I'd love to see more videos of this. I'm trying to lose weight to improve my health and will definitely be trying these recipes.

For the boys "Habit Tracker" area, you also have some boards on the side of the fridge that I have seen from time to time. These would be great to add to that area.
You could add "Give Emma a bath" to the jar. Car wash? Lemonade stand obviously. Yard Sale prep.

Thanks for the recipes! Another summer idea is to do crafts such as counted cross stitch or diamond painting. A summer outdoor movie night sounds fun as well.

It's been crazy here in Houston, TX. We have been without power for over a week and no internet until today! Some crazy storm took out electricity around the city and some are still dealing with it. I normally watch you while I work, its just not the same on my phone. Thank you, for giving me some motivation today!!! Now it's back to Illinois for a month and then finally moving back to TEXAS!!! Yeah!!! PS. I bought some hand towels for a friend today!!!!😍

Other boredom busters:
- draw a picture for a loved one if they're too young for writing a letter
- fold laundry
- walk the dog
- play with pets
- help siblings with chores
- wash the car
- bigger kids can reaearch new recipes for family dinners (everyone can use new ideas)

The 'I'm bored' jar - I love all your ideas. I would maybe add one for a family picnic or a thrifting day with mom (one on one with each of your boys).

Very inspiring! My daughter is graduating high school next week and doesn’t yet have a summer job, so I’m hoping she and I can set up a gentle “to do” board to keep her moving forward and not just sleeping all day. And, I’m thinking about creating an “I’m bored” jar for *me* (“learn to knit;” “use one of your 8 million face masks;” etc.). Lots to take from this video.

Sorry I'm late to watch ing this video. I have a sick foxhound doggie who may need major surgery. Right now she is recoperating from a dog bite she got at her vets office. its been a crazy month. Love the freezer and meal prep. I also used the boredom jar idea years ago when my kids were younger. Great video. 😃

I do the fruit cup thing as well and what is great as you can put so many different things in it. You can put dressing or hummus in it to go with vegetables you could put milk in it to go with cereal. There’s just so many different things. Also, in case you don’t know, the green Parmesan cheese lid that comes on pre-shredded cheese also fits on to mason jars.
Update: before you mentioned using the fruit cups, I had pause the video and went to tell you that about the granola and so then I thought let me tell you about the hummus or the ranch dressing, etc., and I see now that I’ve played the video you’ve thought of that too. I really do pay attention. I just pause the video and want to make sure you knew that tip before I forgot to mention it to you.

Set up a table and set out a 1000 piece puzzle.....Leave it up until it gets done...Then start another one.....That way they can start and stop when ever they have time, or even a few minutes...

Hi Amanda. Ouou Kyle and the boys! Amanda is adding to her chores for the summer…hey! She needs help. Seems that you have periods of boredom, well help your mom out. Tell her that you can do 1 or more hours of housework (not all at the same time if you can) to help her not add on these tasks, so in the end you can have MORE FUN THIS SUMMER, TOGETHER INCLUDING MOM. This would be win-win for you all.
I’m all about fun! lol. Thankfully the boys (and Kyle) all have their own chores they get done throughout the school year. Summertime typically gets us all off our routines - so I’m working to beat that! I appreciate the support & the push for more fun!!

Anyways what I wanted to share is for my kids what I decided to do for the summer is we printed a “reading chart” they’re gonna be a reading at least 2 chapters a day and if they do they get a sticker for that day. Then they get to pick a reward after the charts been filled up. My kids choose $40.00 dollars or going out to eat like a Red Robin’s. But they have to keep up with the reading everyday for that reward to count. Otherwise they can’t play the VR, or games or be on the phone. Only because reading is a big issue for kids now days to get into and try to imagine a story. I have 1 teen 13yrs old, 12yrs and. 6yr old. So I know how crazy it is being on top of kids and trying to encourage them to read. I just thought I’d share. Maybe you could give it a try. 😊💕 Oh also I found my reading charts on Etsy! 😊

My kids get out of school midway through June and go back the Tuesday after Labor Day.

Ive done the parfaits and love them.
I have thought about the chopper but i tend to do all the chopping myself but during food prep that would save a lot of time. Im an old fashion girl for certain things chopping is one of them.
I always did an AM and then a PM routine tracker. If they completed everything for the week they got to pock what movie we did for movie night or whatbgame we played for game night (both done as a family)
My kids are mostly grown up, daughter has moved out and sone is 17. We always did movie night or game night during school but over the summer we did two nights.
It just wants me organized my refrigerator today… Thank you so much..,

I will like to congratulate you for teaching your 3 little gentleman to clean after themselves and also cook it is amazing what you do because if we look around at this young generation and we are just stunt of their helpless, they just don't know to do anything, they don't know to clean after themselves, or to cook, or simply to have a conversation. So yes!!! You are an amazing mum!!

Hi how about the alphabet game that you can all play together you choose a topic like boys names, a fruit or vegetable etc and start with the letter A and go through the alphabet so for example a fruit beginning with A can be apple till you have gone through the whole alphabet my kids loved this when they were young and still play it now and my oldest plays it with his kids xx
Great video…our school year stops end of June and begins after Labour Day…unless you are Amish…their school year ends May 20ish and they return after Labour Day…Also they are done school after they finish 8th grade…😊❤️🇨🇦
We love to play connect 4 and they do have the smaller version, but they also do have the live size. One that you could play a poolside are in the house or out on the patio. Really cool really cool. We love to play connect 4.

I always do the reward system. So for instance, if my son does complete a task for the week or he completes all of his task for the week, then he gets to choose between 2 things that he would like to do and then he would get to go do them. Of course, it would be a family venture. But something simple it doesn't have to be extravagant. It could be a movie day or it could be a milkshake day or anything, but you get to choose between the 2 things that you know he would like. He gets to pick which one. That's what I do in my house and you'd be surprised at how much they will stick to what they are supposed to do because all kids. I believe love reward systems and again. It doesn't have to be anything monetary. It doesn't have to be in anything extravagant. Just something simple that you pick that you know they would like and you go do it as a family or you can do it 1 on 1. With that child, however you wanna do it? I only have the one child at home. So it's pretty simple but it works.
I'm in British Columbia Canada and school is out end of June. They go back beginning of September. Looking forward to all of your summer ideas!

I use those same meats in my salads too! They're so good, my favorite is the fajita seasoned one!
I like idea of them planning and cooking a meal
flashlight hide and seek! we had a version of this in my family growing up. we called it, "chase", and we all had these little, glow-in-the-dark key fobs, and the only rule was the fob had to be visible. this was played in our house in pitch-darkness. an amazing stealth game. SO MUCH FUN and you've got my stamp of approval! (not that you needed it, but you know...)
I LOVE my chopper! I have Sjögren’s syndrome and I can’t chop onions anymore without a lot of pain in my eyes & as I get older arthritis in my hands make this a great help. I loved the granola in the fruit cups idea! You could do the same with dressings for your salads too! Have you tried a little $15 egg cooker to keep hard boiled eggs in the refidge for snacking? They cook perfectly in 12 min. It’s little and stores easily!
We homeschool, so the kids are always home 🫠🙃😊 we’re with a charter school though, so check-ins, classes, co-op, etc all end this week. We’ll still do about an hour of ‘school’ most days - but have lots more free time!
