    A NEW ERA OF MAGIC
    “David Blaine is the greatest magician who ever lived.” Howard Stern made that on-air proclamation, a sentiment echoed by Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller, who referred to David’s Street Magic as “the best TV magic special ever done.” He was just twenty- three when Street Magic first aired on ABC, transforming televised magic by turning the camera on the audience. Spectators at home could feel the visceral reaction of people being astonished. The New York Times went on to declare that David had “taken a craft that’s been around for hundreds of years and done something unique and fresh with it,” while The New Yorker prominently stated “he saved magic.”

    You can tell he's kept that child-like spirit with him this whole time. That's something to admire.

      haha yeah, he messed up there a bit. He forgot he had already used and gave away the King of Hearts, but nonetheless, even though I've seen this trick performed, and know how it's done, it was amazing to watch up close like that. He performed a few other tricks that were really amazing after this one, but no video was allowed.

    I don’t get how he forced the last card selection. All the rest was super simple and he so perfect at it but that last ruffle where the kids picks it back out... amazing no idea how he did it.

    How awesome would it be to see DB live?

  • @AZspaceGUY
    @AZspaceGUY 5 лет назад +6

    DB is awesome! I really want people to stop shooting vertical and shoot horizontal, that is better suited for everything. I hate a thin bar of video in the middle instead of a full screen.

    • @jondough7823
      @jondough7823  5 лет назад +4

      Yeah, I hear you! I almost always shoot horizontally, but there were a lot of people crowded around and I didn't want to get in anyones way. Shooting it vertically just allowed me to squeeze in there easier.

    Would have been much better if he would make the king of diamond into another heart

    • @jondough7823
      @jondough7823  6 лет назад +5

      That would have been a pretty cool effect, but it would have been pretty obvious that a duplicate or gaff card was used. He made a little mental error there, but the overall performance was just great. I know how the method is done, and standing two feet away I still couldn't see a thing. His doublelift is amazing!

    • @jankifromla
      @jankifromla 6 лет назад +1

      thats it. in 2018 David Blaine still can get reactions like that with "simple" double lift

      For real! I was standing 2 feet away watching closely and I couldn't see anything, even though I know how the trick is done lol.

      @@jondough7823 I know the trick "most ambitious" is fine with mostly just lots of double lifts , but how the heck does he have thst jake kid pick his signed card at the end from a range ransom location in the fanned out deck? How? 😦

    • @benbarrett452

      @@spookyencounters9392 SPOILER
      He already knows which one is the King of Hearts. It's about how quickly he spreads through the cards. When he says "take one out" he's already reached the point to where the card is at about the middle and the kid instinctively reaches in and grabs the one. There is obvious risk but if he messes up he could just do another trick.

    • @fullofbullets58
      @fullofbullets58 4 года назад +1

      He didnt do a pass during this trick.. he did what's called Marlos tilt.

    • @Joe55348
      @Joe55348 4 года назад

      Spooky Encounters He plays a psychological game on the kid. If you pay close attention, he taps the card that he wants the kid to choose more than once, and that makes the kid subconsciously grab that card which DB knows is the card he signed.
