Magic is not so much a puzzle to be solved but a mystery to be experienced. Great magic doesn't strive to fool you so that you believe in something, great magic reminds you to be careful in what you believe in... David Blaine - 🐐
It's because he makes it so that this card is the longest, last and clearest visible so that your brain automatically draws to it. That's why he turns around the first card and doesn't show the last.
Its not that davids tricks are complex in fact they were all really simple. But he has mastered showmanship and dexterity in this field to the max and thats what makes him one of the best magicians of our time.
6:21 I noticed for this trick he always goes with the last card you see. Because that’s the one that sticks out the most. Because it’s freshest in your mind. It’s a psychology trick I think. Everyone 100% of the time will go with the last card they see. Or they only card they see. (At the very end)
He actually shows that card longer than the others, which is why people see and remember it. He does the trick with the forced card in the middle sometimes - if the top edge card you want to force is slightly lower than the rest it creates a slight break when he fans his finger through
I think the success of the trick requires it to be the last card seen, but that might not be enough. In this version he dwelled super long on the last card compared to the rest so it's not only the last card seen, but also the one you see for the longest duration (and multiple times). In 1997 he did a slightly different version on the Conan Obrian show. As his last trick, he turned to Andy Richter and flipped the deck the same way and Andy ultimately selected the very last card, the Ace of diamonds. The difference is that David didn't dwell on it very long at all this time. Instead he chose to re-use a card from an earlier trick that Andy had signed and was watching closely over a series of 3 or 4 consecutive tricks. So for a couple of minutes Andy had been interfacing with that one card, so you can say David was burning it into his memory for later use. Lastly, you'll notice that David doesn't use all of the 52 cards for this trick. By showing less cards, you're simply less likely to be distracted by cards other than the one he's intending to have stick in your brain. So it seems there are a handful of elements, both psychological and statistical, that all together promote its success.
yes but it's also that he paused longer on that one too, just a fraction of a second, so that was the one you see. It's a risky one because you CAN see others, but the odds are you'll pick the one he wants you to.
I hate it when people say he does black magic... because his tricks are actually very simple, but david is soooo good at what he does.. he will literally show u the trick and how its done, but you still get amazed by how "he did it" because even after he shows u his technique, he still knows u wont be able to replicate it due to the fact hes a pro
He is master yogi in my opinion, he has achieved the highest level of the mind possible. Hes an interesting human being. People will demonize what they do not understand.
same, slight of hand and suggestion, he knew where the card was in the deck OR the card is different in some way so he held on it for a split second longer, if the majority of folks picked it he did the move right, the bent card move is what puzzles me the most
I've seen that last trick performed by David quite some times now. He stops so well in one card so it makes it obvious for it to be chosen. Then, he prepares all the preformance around it. I want to practice that one.
That is just dope....pure slight of hand stuff and that's all he does on TV as well.....not like other magicians who prefer camera tricks over pure magic.... Huge respect for this guy for taking magic to such new heights....
Watch ---> 0:26 how David Blaine quickly but smoothly rejects the host's attempt to hold hands with David to lead em to the other lady he meets right after 😂😅 I mean really that was very awkward for David Blaine I'm sure 😕😲
It's actually quite an amateur trick. I couldn't do it because it requires expert precision, but it's considered a simpler trick. he paused longer on that card, just a fraction of a second, so that was the one you see longest and it was the last one you see. It's a risky one because you CAN see others, but the odds are you'll pick the one he wants you to. It's essentially a force, with top tier timing and precision.
Vinay Srivastava it’s simple. The way he flicks the cards is under his control. He makes the 9 of spades more visible then all the others. Also slight of hand. Easy back flip. I used to do magic it’s pretty cool.
actually on the second double lift you can see the gab between the cards. I was surprised, because that was exactly what happens to me all the time when i am executing the double lift like that :D
He is a phenomenal talent and have enjoyed so much of his tricks I forget about the world and am absorbed in his remarkable feats with cards and other tricks... except I am concerned about his health with some of the physical endurance feats he has performed. I suddenly thought... but not so easy it could happen... for one person in the audience to come secretly prepared maybe hoping David might do his 9 of spades trick, then right after the cards rain down on the audience to bring one other card, (only it would have to be of a matching design on the front of David's set) so a card different than any other card than the 9 of spades, then rise up and shout, holding their card high and saying, " Look at me! I saw the queen of diamonds, look everyone!" Then all see the queen of diamonds and be even more amazed and leave David amazed too... yet probably not a trick unless the trickster knows the design detail on David's particular set of cards... only I wonder if he buys cards from a magic supply company and the design is not all that uncommon. His cards look of a fairly common design. At least everyone would get a good laugh for an instant.

The beginning of the man who made magic awesome again
Magic has always been cool.
A true artist in the art of close up magic
This is just a million double lifts in a row but his showman ship is so good it makes it.
How does he get the 6 of spades to be under the top card in the beginning though?
