  • Growing Strong Plants | Strong Root Systems | Green Side Up
    Promoting strong root growth is one of the best things you can do for a plant, especially when you are growing them from seed yourself, you want to catch that at the right moment when the plant is growing roots well, but before they start to spins around their pot/container then get them planted out where they can thrive.
    I have now taken the plunge and started up a Patreon space here / greensideup This gives a little more Green Side Up content to those who wish to help,support or give back to me. It will be slightly different to the content here on my channel in that it will be an informal style with a warts and all approach, its me, but from a different angle.
    If you are enjoying my content, you can help me by buying me a packet of seeds. ko-fi.com/greensideup
    Contact me - steve.greensideup@gmail.com
    Every Monday night at 7pm I take part in a LIVE show on the Potty MOuth Garden Club here / @pottymouthgardenclub
    Links to products I use, that I have bought and can recommend. If you click one of these links and buy the same thing as me, you pay EXACTLY the same as me, but I earn a small commission from Amazon. Amazon pays this, not you! We are talking pennies here not pounds and I use it more as a shop window,so you can see the product. I always also advise you "shop around" first to find the best price you can.

    It's a great shame that you've been taken from us, I've watched your video for the last few yrs and the advice you have given has been very helpful I'm about the same level in the country as you so when you set away I did. You were like the go to bible of gardening. Such a shame but your video will be out there forever I think. A massive thank you for what you have done and deepest sorrows to your family. A true legend. So sorry

    I grew my parsley on a hedge last year and did fantastic on there as the well drained soil and shelter seem to suit it perfectly.

    Thanks for the tips on root growth ! It struck me a few years ago to do this but you just confirmed it was the way to help the roots thrive ! I've been lazy and not started anything this year, so will have to get my plans this year from the nursery. Question about beans.. is it ok to put the seeds right in the ground or should I buy some already started ? I'm in Canada (Ontario )

    Hi Steve
    For those ofus wjo don't have either a polytunnel or a greejhouse for that matter ( just a plastic tent) could you offer a process for 'moving' seedlings from super seven trays and young plants outside please

    • @deanhawthorn5783
      @deanhawthorn5783 Год назад

      you adapt on a smaller scale like i do.....use mini versions of polly tunnels......i grow enough for a family and freinds in just 40 sq meters of land....think about growing up....not in an age way....climbing french beans and a squash with them for instance....use bubble wrap stalped to a simple frame.....it works for me every year

    My parsley grows all winter I don’t need to freeze it and so does chervil. Coriander can overwinter but not as hardy I find. It’s a shame basil doesn’t go through winter. I find it hard to grow basil sometimes it germinates then dies through damping off it’s so hard to know wen to stop watering have you any tips with growing basil?
