Thank you VERY MUCH. You're going God's work.
Thank you VERY MUCH. You're doing God's owkr.
It surprised me how easy this game feels overall, and then all of a sudden, Wario's castle is freakishly hard and unfair. One of the biggest diffiulty spikes I've seen in any Nintendo game
So true. I flew through the game in about two hours with maybe one death.
Now I’ve been stuck at Wario’s castle for days and my 40 lives have fallen to 5.
Imagine wario's castle as a kid I remember getting there multiple times and losing all of my lives before finally beating it. I'd get super tense when the wario jingle played followed by his low res laugh
not me I only remember seeing like 2 bosses then dying, and then I had to do it all over again ;-;
Man that's so true..
I replayed the game few weeks ago, died like 2-3 times in the entire game, then I died 20 times in this castle.. but I've beaten Wario first try :)
If you know certain tricks it is easy even without going on easy mode
That bassline on Star Maze is perfection
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
10:03 this song here, back in the day that squeaking sound, I thought that was a mouse. I even remember that small popping sound after the squeaking.
I know it will never happen, but a remaster of this game would be amazing.
It's not an official remaster, but you might like "Super Mario Land 2 DX"
@@MatthewDeVore I know that.
I wish they did, it is so sad that it is unpopular because not many people have access to it.
We need Super Mario Land 3
@@despg Yes it is my dream kinda.
The pinnacle of gaming when i was a child, no game today can replace that feeling.
4:08 looking up into the sky at night with this sound playing as a kid just can't be recreated.
I’m a girly girl, but I was so in love with my Game Boy! I used to be obsessed with this game. “Star Maze” and been on my mind for years and I finally decided to see if I could find it. I damn near cried because it brought so many good memories back!
Star Maze is so good, you're right ! So you still like the game overall ?
Star Maze has always been my favorite as well. So good and nostalgic.
Girls playing Nintendo is fine it's the other more manly games that would be weird (don't let that stop you though)
Beautiful comment... God bless you always and 4ever
This soundtrack is really slept on. I think it belong's in Kazumi Totaka's top 10.
This soundtrack is criminally underrated
Seriously, so underrated. Imo, the best soundtrack from the 8 bit era, with an emphasis on “Star Maze” “Tree Top” and the closing theme... hard to believe such simple melodies can stir such emotion and memories...
Tree top is an amazing theme! They should really take inspiration from these themes for later games.
@@CraftingCole Right? I like to think the Super Mario Sunshine team got some inspiration from this. There's this tropical sound to it.
It's the Star Songgggggg, that funky Star Songgggggggg
Ahhh I see you're a man of culture as well
Eat an eeeeeegg rollllll, a crispy eeeegg rolllll
Star Maze is undoubtedly the best song in this game. 8-bit masterpiece!
fuuuuck my life i wouldnt remeber any of these songs but as i hear them here suddenly all the notes pop back into my head...
Only need to remember one. All the songs are the fucking same.
Yeah I know it’s crazy, I remember every note as well, 25 years later lol
@@DarkSim64 it's called a leitmotif you uncultured swine
@@dirtfriend You mad?
Spelling remember correctly is hard and I fail all the time.
This song has to ve the one stuck in my head the most even thiugh it hasn't been in a long long while.
By "this song" I'm refuring to how most all the songs have the same tune just modified.
Star maze need a music award :o
i mean it's 2019 and i dance like in a disco to this song :D
and warios castle just one of best basslines ever even its so simple lol
You got the same taste like me
I know some people may find it repetitive, however I just find that a game which has one single theme which is used and remixed for the entire game to be neat, not just seeing bur also hearing how all of these different levels connect in one single adventure.
Plus I find the ability to see the overarching threat from the beginning and the final boss using the powerups from the game to its advantage to be neat.
ahhh childhood. best game ever and i always come back to it. still have a copy for my gameboy colour
Overworld, Macro Zone and Star Maze would each make an excellent ringtone on the phone.
The Tree Zone theme was actually such a banger, my god
So simply sweet and perfectly pleasant, with tremendous variety. A vast yet tiny world of amazing music. An enormously impactful pocket sized symphony.
star maze is a chune 13:32
Totaka's Song at 17:53 :D
Why I love 8 bit music more then the shit in the radio where every one sounds like rhianna
Jesus' Christ, I'm about to cry cuz of the Nostalgia I got listening to this...
I wasn’t even alive in the 90s but I still played this when I was younger because my grandma had a game boy with a couple games and I ended up playing this one a lot
MEU DEUS MEU DEUS ESSE JOGO TEM UMA DAS MELHORES OST DE TODOS OS TEMPOS, OLHA ESSE TEMA DO MAPA DA ESTRELA VEI AFFFFFFF
11:20 Just like "Pipe Room" from "Super Mario land"
this credit song makes me cry, but cry happy. I'm so proud I had played this game on my childhood as one of few games I have had to my game boy.
you're not the only one, it really is an emotional track!
@@RWL2012 Oh man! Hug me, I need a hug (>T_T)>
I beat the game on emulator a few minutes ago.. it's amazing!
Juliano FS *gives virtual extremely short "stranger hug"* congrats!
@@RWL2012 Thx :D
welcome :P
My first game and gameboy,my uncle gave it to me for some resaon weeks later he died ;(
Oh my I'm so sorry
despite playing almost every mainline 2d mario game, the mario land games rank among my top ones
id even be inclined to say i like super mario land 2 more than world
the music of both games is just so good, and the games themself are super weird. makes a ton of sense how it evolved into the wario land series
i kinda wish a new mario game would lean into the wackiness of the land games
Hi
glad that this is in hd
Good ol days of when I was a kid. This along Warioland were my go-to Gameboy Color games.
OMG THE MEMORIES!!! THE JAMS!!
There are some great tracks here. Tree Top is an absolute bop. Machine makes me want to beatbox. Obviously Star Maze because it's fantastic. But the most nostalgic for me has to be Seashore - it wasn't really a standout track, but it happened in some really cool levels.
What a great game this was.
All I remember is playing this on a gameboy in my moms red car, while she listened to ace of base and the cranberries, and Alanis moresette. I would give any part of my body to go back in time to be a kid again.
This hits somewhere deep
4:35 The greatest
Star maze spunds like it could be a credits them. Lots of people are saying its the best song and i think id good but nothing special. It's missing the melody from every other song so maybe that's why everyone likes it?
Le premier jeu vidéo que j'ai terminé toute seule ! J'avais 7ans 😊❤
When I listened to this before, I found it quite annoying, because of the incessant use of the same theme. I wonder how I'll like it now!
Yes, I can appreciate it a lot more now. :) The different arrangements are quite varied, and all good. It is definitely an art to reuse the same melody in so many different ways!
Yeah, it's actually quite fun!
13:32 what you’re all here for…
Always found this game to be a lot more challenging than Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land
That's interesting. I played Super Mario Land 3 a lot more, but I remember thinking "when does this game get hard?" when I played this one. I think I did get my humbling at Mario Zone, though, I have faint memories of thinking that area was pretty tough. So many years ago, though, my memories of it might be all out of whack.
Did you unlock Sherbet Land in SML3? I feel like that place was tougher than the rest of the game and I didn't discover it until I was a teenager. Also, one can trivialize SML3 if they know the pause cheat, whereas I don't know if there is any code like that in SML2.
The most UNDERRATED Mario game ever.
The Nostalgia actually physically hurts
Ah I'm so glad this collection of bibs and bobs is in FULL HD lol
I freakin’ LOVE this game and this s/t is EPIC!!!!
Seriously the level start theme is a BANGER!!!!
You come to these types of videos because your childhood is calling you from beyond.
I don't even have the game, but I still love this
I loved the Star Maze song as a kid. Still kinda do...
I played this for the first time the other day, and I realized the first few notes jingle in the Athletic theme is the same as Baby Park in Mario Kart Souble Dash. I wonder if it was an intentional reference?
OMG FAVORITE CHIPTUNE ALBUM
Map theme and star maze are 8-bit masterpieces.
The day Nintendo does a remake of this is when my life will be complete
Check out Super Mario Land 2 DX!
@@rafaliciousbmx Ah thanks bro, I've played in color- I meant a modern remake
@@Aligatorxx3 a remake isn't required I don't think, I mean why change perfection? 😉🏆🎮
@@rafaliciousbmx Haha touché. I just thought it would be so cool if they did all the same levels, bosses etc but made it like 3D 😍 the bosses from this game are 👌
@@Aligatorxx3 that would be cool, remakes can be great, like Super Mario 64 on the DS but that was more of an enhanced port. I've just changed the battery in my DX copy so I can save again, I've been playing through it and finding the secret paths, the game is so ahead of it's time for a Gameboy game. I admittedly had to look up how to beat the space boss (who was the final boss in S.M.L.1) but seriously what a game and what a soundtrack! Has lots of great level design and ideas, it reminds me of and is an excellent predecessor to the Wario series, Wario Land 2 and Super Mario Land 2 will always be my favourites of the series. 🏆🎮
04:35 you are welcome
The space zone theme makes me cry
Cool, best music of Mario Bros and nostaljic
I was too bad to finish this game when I was like 8 yrs old.
And I am too bad to finish it now. Sad.
This was the perfect gameboy game
Someone should do an orchestral version of The Moon song.
Star Maze Tracks is so amazing
The star maze track is top 5 gameboy music for sure
I legit screamed in furious triumph the day I finally beat Wario….magic carrot legit carries that boss fight
is it me or this soundtrack seems heavily influenced by The Entertainer by Scott Joplin? especially at 4:35
Thanks for putting this together!
Somehow I can hear the vibe of Mii Channel, the composer probably used a similar chord progression 🤔
Were there boxing sharks in the game? cant remember :D
yes
@@Nickster_28 they were just regular sharks, no?
Easily one of my favourite games of all time.
18:19 No we're leaving that in! We're leaving that in! That's the beginning of the episode!
i love athletic and seashore so much.
can someone put the times the songs each run next to the tracklist ^^?? please and thank you.
Muy bueno es lo que buscaba.

Full HD?? Can we get this in 4K, please??
Thanks! XD
4:35 giga-chad workout theme.
Totaka's Song at 17:53.
Great album.
21:28 kinda sounds like Duke Ellington's Caravan
couldnt help but notice the pitch is a couple microscopic scoap-lio's too high
Tree Top has the Mario Bros 3 Seaside theme hidden in it. Thought this was pretty cool!
wow never noticed at all. dude nice catch.
reference to Caravan??? 21:30
Reference? That's a straight quote!
In Mario's madness in Friday night funkin it was the same in golden land and this is the same music but them 1 minute later it's all creepy in mario.exe golden land
Memories!!!
Only game with Warriors as the final boss 😅
Whos ready for a protonjon stream?
NOW LOADING . . .
How did this not get destroyed by nintendo
Why don't some indie devs copy this kind of game? Lots of short levels with huge variety that is simple to produce. Instead of every project being bloated and labour intensive. A silly, charming adventure of a decent length that doesn't seem impossible to make. 2 or 3 people could replicate this kind of game in 6 months. You'd need talent of course but that's true no matter what you're making, that's the baseline.
a lot of indie devs now have the mindset that every game they make needs to be the next biggest thing
totaka only has one melody and it's this 4:35
05:00
Some of this sounds like Zelda music.
Machine is the best song
Tomorrow 30y PAL release 🙈👴🏻… 1993/01/28
