She literally has veteran singers Patti Austin, deniece Williams, and Lani groves barking behind her and they aren't holding back for young Whitney and she just thrives under the arrangement which highlights her stong belting.

This was recorded when she was just 16 years old. I know people like to say she was 19 but Whitney herself said she recorded it when she was 16. Background vocals were amazing. I know Patti Austin was one of them. I can’t remember who the other one was. Such an amazing song from her. I heard it years ago on one of those radio stations “quiet storm” late night programs. Ok now I have the other background singers: Denice Williams (from Let’s Hear It For The Boy, Silly, Blackbutterfly)and Lani Groves.
Whitney was still in Highschool when she first recorded this track for Paul Jabara (for whom she did work as a sessions singer). She would perform showcases with Paul and some of his other featured artists (such as The Weather Girls) in NYC. Paul later released it on his compilation LP entitled "Paul Jabara & Friends" in 1983.
Thank you for that information, do you know of any others like this? I'd love if there were like a bunch of songs she has from this Era out there waiting for us to discover. In the days/week since I've reacted to this song I've become seriously obsessed lol.
@@J.Fro90 There are songs and tracks she recorded prior to signing with Arista. But they were usually demos that remain unreleased. Which is why finally getting to hear her Gospel recordings at 17 years old, like Testimony, I Found A Wonderful Way was such a treat. She did lots of background work as a teen. For Lou Rawls, Bobby Eli, Joe Cocker, Aaron Neville et all. But as a "lead" solo feature, they remain a "rare" find.
Whitney is Whitney, but those 3 legends in the background carried me through. I too am a huge Whitney fan. This and other little treasure can now be found on RUclips.

She was a guest vocalist on Paul Jabbar and friends. This was not on her album.
