The cup of noodles debate: I absolutely boil water in my kettle and pour it in the cup. It says DO NOT MICROWAVE because it is Styrofoam.
The reason you are so surprised that the cup noodles are not supposed to be microwaved despite having a fill line is because, outside of the USA, the rest of the world has electric kettles that boil water quickly. We boil the kettle (it takes 1 minute) and then pour the boiling water up to the fill line. This alone cooks the noodles within a few minutes.
I'm from the UK and find it bizarre that Americans use microwaves to boil water!
I am Australian and I had no idea that Americans just don’t have kettles…? Like, what? 😂😂😂
We have electric kettles as well in the US but in my experience I would eat cup of noodles at school or out and about where microwaves were the only option. Otherwise we would make regular ramen. And I’m like 98% sure the directions on the cup tells you to put it in the microwave 😂
Not all Americans 😊 I have a hot water dispenser, so all I do is push a button for instant boiled water (as long as its not empty). I had a stove kettle before then but finally could afford a dispenser! I just wish the appliance wasn't so expensive!

I JUST got an electric kettle for Christmas, it’s the best thing ever. I can’t believe it’s not normal to have these in America (but it totally isn’t from my experience as an American, only my tea drinking friends have kettles)

My husband would always save the heels of the bread for me because he figured I loved the heels like he did. Finally, after seeing only the heels left over (this was after our kids grew up and left the house because they would eat the heels) several times in our loaves of bread in the plastic bag, he asked me why I wasn't eating the heels. I said, "I hate the heels, why would I eat the heels of a loaf when I always cut off the edges of a piece of bread for myself?" Then he said, "I love the heels and I always saved them for you because I thought you liked them too - and they always disappeared" "Well the kids must have been eating them because it wasn't me." This was after at least 22 years of marriage.

I'm so happy to have this podcast back. My husband passed away unexpectedly at 41 ...5 years ago this month and this podcast helps me see some of us in you guys somehow lol

All the cup noodles I’ve ever eaten (in the UK) instruct to pour boiling water into it! Microwaving it must release bad chemicals😅
i’ve neeeever microwaved a cup noodle!!! always heated the water on the stove, cause heating water in the microwave sounds wrong, weird and a crime almost
When I was like 12 i microwaved a cup of noodles and it caught fire skjdghkjgh (nothing happened it was the cup and it quickly went out when I stopped the microwave) but I never did it again after that.

It's really nice to see the relationship between you two. Also, nice to hear Erik talk about his dad. Obviously Erik's dad was a good role model, making Erik the dad he is today. The relationship Colleen has with her parents, all the crafts, etc. has shown in Colleen's parenting. It's just nice to see families like yours exist, generation after generation. It has been an amazing journey to follow Colleen all these years. I started watching every video back in the day when Parker was born, and i havent stopped since. I didnt know any english, and just from watching so much colleens corner one day i realized i was fluent in english haha i missed you guys so much last year, it felt like i was losing some very dear friends, im so glad that you are back now! love you guys so much 🩷

Honestly, so happy to see that you actually read the comments Colleen. I was one of the people who liked the first comment about being happy to see Eric on here He doesn’t really come out on your Vlogs So seeing him here is awesome. he reminds me so much of a guy that I know because they just talk the same way very relaxed, sort of way and when you see or hear Eric laugh it kind of feels like an accomplishment if that makes any sense because he’s very kind of serious so when he laughs, you just feel like oh wow he thinks I was funny. Also was very excited when you came back on RUclips, would literally check to see if you had uploaded even though I have notifications on, and was so happy to see all of you!!! Truly truly

You guys always talk about how it's your alone time so I figured something related to that. Also the covers on books are called dust jackets, I take mine off too and store them until I'm done the book then they go back on when they are left on the shelf 😂
I’ve always been told to not put Styrofoam in the microwave. I never really use the Styrofoam ones because of that.
But recently, I just press the 10 ounce button on my Keurig, and that works perfectly up to the line. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
The paper cover is called a book jacket 😀. My book's preface is a few sentences more than 1 page and basically shares WHY I wrote the book, and then the story begins... 💚

My aunt started doing this genius thing (which I will admit requires a little more effort and discipline) she’ll buy whatever she needs to to get free shipping and then return things to the store. So she still gets the benefit of the free shipping, but she doesn’t necessarily spend more because she gets refunded the money she didn’t want to spend. Honestly pretty genius IMO

According to Google the answer to why you shouldn't microwave Styrofoam:
"At high temperatures, it begins to melt or break down. Even if there's no visible damage on the foam, a microwave oven may cause the toxic chemical styrene (among other chemicals) to leach into your food."
I’ve always used the microwave for the cup of noodles. I think 99% of people have. 😂😂😂I still do it!

In regards to the setup/cameras: I think the setup is nice! I just think you can stick with only using the one wide angle camera. I like watching both of your facial expressions when the other is talking so when you’re switching to the single person shots we don’t get to see all your reactions!

I’m so happy the podcast is back. I think you should bring Eric’s parents on as a guest. That would be so cool. 25:43 When I had gotten those cups, I never microwaved them because I live with my parents and I was told by my mom that would start a fire in the microwave. I then started buying the packets of ramen because I did not like the vegetables in the ramen.
I always used to just pour the vegetables in cup noodles straight in the trash 😂
Re: peanut butter
I love creamy peanut butter and opt for peanut butter flavored items as dessert etc. I was SHOOK when my fiancé said he hates peanut butter and truly questioned if we could make our relationship work, but now I get all the peanut butter things and don’t have to worry about him stealing it 🤷🏻♀️😂😂
As someone who’s entire job at a grocery store for a whole summer was to cut up cantaloupe, honeydew, watermelon, and pineapple for fruit salads, Erik you’re getting some bougie fruit salad lmao.
Had to pause this to immediately ask my partner what kind of peanut butter he likes!!!!!! Thankfully it’s chunky ❤️

Your "crunchy vs. smooth" conversation is 100% my husband and I!! We've been married almost five years (living together 6, together 7) and we've only ever had smooth PB in our house. After this podcast I texted him "Crunchy or smooth" and he said "Crunchy please!" WTH?? So why do we buy smooth??!! Probably for the same reasons you have smooth (baking) but wow! Crunchy PB will return to our house next shopping trip!
