You can't be both of these things. It just doesn't fucking work, and Def noodles is a perfect example of someone trying, and failing horribly at proving this wrong.
That's not to say it isn't possible to be both of these things. But when you put effort into both of them, they just cancel each other out. If you wanna be cool amd funny, you gotta just let it happen naturally, and if it doesn't happen, it's because you simply aren't both of them.

I absolutely loved Irrelevant News and Def Noodles. Dennis really is the epitome of self sabotage and it's so, so disappointing.
That’s cause he thought his fans loved him for his comedy when it was never truly the case.
I hear you, as pathetic as it sounds now, I used to look forward to watching his new video after I got settled into work daily.
I stayed for a while when it got bad, but felt like the bad was the real him rather than the persona we saw before

I followed Dennis on insta initially for news but then for morbid curiosity. But then he posted about Bruce Wiilis' early dementia diagnosis and in the caption said 'get well soon'. That was enough of the show for me.
What’s crazy is Dennis allegedly said his own dad has Dementia so it’s crazy for him.

My stepfather died because of FTD(what Bruce Willis has which is a dementia that hits younger people). It is a beyond awful way to go. If I hadn’t already unfollowed him everywhere much earlier that would have been my leaving point.

@@chonchjohnch I definitely understand that. It took months for his family to say what his diagnosis was. As someone that went through that process with my stepfather and heard the experiences of people in our support group it can take a decent amount of time for a diagnosis depending on the Drs. Some people lived with strange behaviors from their loved ones for years before it became obvious to Drs what was going on. I deal with aphasia due to my chronic migraines so I definitely understand people expecting not all aphasia to be permanent but his family did confirm the dementia and those of us in the support group were saddened because we know what is coming(but the saying is if you know one person with dementia you only know one person because the progression of the disease is so variable and sometimes they don’t know what it really was until a brain autopsy is preformed). I truly despise this disease because it robbed my daughter of the grandparent she was most bonded to and it robbed the world of a man that truly did good.

I'm not gonna lie, "Are you from Detroit?" has become my favorite in-joke with my bf. It was such a mess, but that made it hilarious. Just not in the way he wanted it too. After a while it just became sad in the not funny way, but we'll always have Detrout😂

Either you are a naturally funny, witty and charismatic person or you’re not. You can’t learn to be funny. Not everyone can be a comedian. Noel Miller is the perfect example, he’s so successful because he’s naturally so funny and charismatic, he puts people at ease and can always break the tension and hold a conversation with anyone. Like I said, this is something you either got or you don’t. And Dennis just doesn’t have it. It’s all so forced and awkward.
Exactly. Cody Ko and Noel Miller were literally code monkeys at RUclips before they made commentary/comedy content. Neither of them did standup, but now they can do sellout comedy tours. Dennis just isn't funny in the same context. Irrelevant News was entertaining because we were all in on the "joke" about how unserious all of this was, but were still interested nonetheless. Dennis himself wasn't that funny.

Tbh I don't agree you can't learn to be funny, a lot of being a stand up comedian is practice, but if you refuse to improve and take on criticism you'll never get better

Same as music for example. Anyone can learn to play an instrument but that doesn't mean they have natural rhythm or ability to create something that sounds good.

Dennis screwed himself when he stopped doing what made him big. He added c4 to his problem when he started obsessing about what people thought of him. I felt bad for him seeing how he was baited and bullied everyday. Internet trolls totally destroyed his confidence. Unfortunately he didn't learn anything from that experience. A couple of weeks ago he literally did the same thing. He asked everyone to teel him what they thought of him. The next day he made a video saying that maybe he should quit. After that, I no longer feel sorry for him. He is the creator of his own misery.

He really used to be a daily watch for me, he somehow also posted drama videos well before everyone every other tea channel. After the burning man incident, it was easy to see what kind of person he was from the way he treated his employee so poorly for his own lack of research and planning, the worst part being he blamed her instead of owning up to his mistakes and just made himself look aweful. After that point it was a quick spiral into madness and his live shows were so mega cringe
It is wild and really impressive that this guy thinks he's a comedian and I've not seen anything funny from him. There are a lot of comedians I don't find funny but I can tell where the jokes are. This one's just... talking. Sometimes with cat ears on which doesn't count as a bit or satire.
his only funny videos are his nikoavocado videos and it wasn't defnoodles that is funny. def noodles just compiled the funniest recaps of nikoavocado videos and reposts them for commentary. not going to lie. the compilation recaps of nik were funny. that was the only thing funny.

I was actually looking at the Papa Gut debate earlier today, it’s crazy how Dennis shows signs of Narcissism and tried to twist the narrative to make himself look good.
He really can’t take an ounce of criticism and gets very heated when he gets called out or runs with his tail tucked behind his back. Plus alienating all of his fan base from former and super fans.
He shouldn’t be online if he can’t handle it.
Just incase anyone forgets, he did so poorly in that debate and is such an awful individual he went on to laugh at Papa Guts wifes experience with being raped and sell merch of Papa Gut recouncing the story.
It's infuriating how he kept interrupting Papa Gut when he was trying to tell him EXACTLY what he was asking for. And then getting progressively louder every time.

I just stumbled upon your channel and my parents once had a hamster named Uncle Herman so that was kind of a weird moment. Just needed to share.
Man for two or three years every day religiously I waited for DEF noodles to upload loved his contact. Love the people inside the beauty, drama bullshit and also how it wasn’t too extreme. It was it it was funny enough you know we could all laugh because we were uncomfortable, you know, and it was just such a shame to see him turn into such a dick so quickly with a comedy bullshit.

That roast battle is painful… a lot of people really don’t understand that standup comedy and put downs are very much a skill 💀 a roast isn’t just ‘who can say the meanest thing’, you’ve got have comic timing, you’ve got to know how to set up a punchline, you’ve got to be quick enough to jab back at your opponent/the audience if they heckle… seriously, why do so many people think that being a comedian is just as simple as just walking out on stage and talking??? If it was that easy, everybody would be able to do it

I was a big fan of Dennis, ever since he was in his kitchen reacting to things in 2018. Once he started to change and become unhinged … I and others, brought our concerns up to him. Not in a hateful way at all. He responded telling me (and many others) to unalive myself. Which I had tried in the past and is kind of a triggering thing for me. Someone I enjoyed watching and even bought merch from, told me to die. I unsubbed so fast. I miss watching the cat in the Minecraft house spouting irrelevant news. But now he is who he once loathed in creators. While I won’t go back for an update, I hope he got help. Because that was a sad chaotic downfall. (Also, I feel like I need to point out my story is not a “parasocial relationship” thing. I was a normal fan lol. I don’t pretend to know that man personally. I just don’t want, nor need the comments saying as such. LoL)

Part of the appeal of Irrelevant News was that he addressed drama in an entertaining way especially with it seeing my upbeat and having the palette cleanser ending.
But after that his videos became more depressing especially when discussing drama.

I have never seen a RUclipsr destroy their career this badly in so little time. Its crazy to think that a year or so ago he was cracking hundreds of thousands of views only to barely even reach 2 thousand views
I followed his channel because h3 shouted him out at one point. I remember being so confused when he posted that video about renting a commercial space and abandoning a character that I didn’t know was a character. It felt so weird like I was missing something and couldn’t understand what changed. i guess h3 just ignored the downfall and didnt want to pile on, honestly its just sad and pathetic. he just has that type of personality where he is wayyy over confident in his own vision and cant take any criticism or input from others.

While I want to give him the leniency of believing he actually regrets the things he did last year, the fact that it took over a year for him to admit he screwed up leads part of me to believe that he’s only becoming regretful because he knows that what he did destroyed his career and not the fact that his actions were actually harmful and degenerate

Because between banned everyone from his subreddit, threating to kill people with his bare hands, his massive cocaine addiction, laughing at SA victims, lazily streaming for hours on ened just eating takeout, paying sex workers to preform live on twitch, labeling anyone with critisim as a hater and a loser, sueing his 20 yea old secretary, clickbaiting incest, child death, mental breakdowns, assaulting people, claiming fake death threats agains hia partner, selling alcohol without a license, massively botting comments and subs... Somehow, he fell off the youtube algorithm.
I dont think im doing more than skimming the surface either. The main reason is that everyone he tried to start drama with at least had the sense to see he was just desperate for attension and to just ignore him.

I remember watching an episode of Leftovers (hosted by Ethan Klein and Hasan Piker). They played a soundbite of James saying he’d date “the absolute youngest”. Hasan asked if James actually said that and Ethan said yes. Nobody in the crew corrected him. I at that time didn’t realise Def Noodles had been spreading that unfinished quote but I did know Ethan had been using Def Noodles as a source for a lot of RUclips news like that.
For the record, James Charles has committed actual crimes so I’m not defending him against what he’s actually done wrong. However, a man of his age when he said that saying he doesn’t want to date men older than 24 is perfectly reasonable. Wasn’t he only about 19 or 20 or something like that? He was basically just saying he only wanted to date men closer to his own age, which is fair. Unfortunate that his actual dating habits didn’t align with what he was saying.
I stopped watching him around the whole Will Smith situation. I remember being upset about him constantly downplaying alopecia (which disproportionately affects black women) just to make his point more valid (a point that no one was really arguing with him about.) Then, I saw a few weeks later, the video of him shoving a comedian off the stage, doing the exact same thing he condemned in video after video. The hypocrisy was astounding

I have been dying to know what happened with Def. I used to watch his stuff. He started the new format and sadly didn’t love it. So I stopped watching and lost the plot. I feel like no one talked about what happened. I thought he just disappeared

I used to love Def Noodles. I watched him for a couple years. I finally stopped watching him bc he started getting snotty and mean. And his Keemstar drama he kept bringing up over and over was just annoying.
I really enjoyed his youtube show when he had the cat ears. The day he killed his persona was the day he killed his career
Great summary, Dennis is fascinating. Not as a person, or a content creator really, but as a fairly unique example of delusional thinking. Not to mention his downfall was one of the most extreme falls from grace I’ve ever seen on RUclips.
He genuinely believed that people understood the “cat in a Minecraft house” character was a bit, and that his audience knew that Irrelevant News was supposed to be a satire on the RUclips drama and commentary communities. He seemed deliberately delusional about why his audience was actually watching him, and sabotaged his only successful venture to pursue something that literally nobody wanted.
I don’t recall this mentioned in the video so just a quick note- Dennis was exposed as lying about his age, and is really 10 years older than he had been claiming to be. All of his comedy friends from last year have disowned him and claimed he didn’t pay people as promised, and when his assistant Tiana quit and made a video about how he almost got her killed on an ill-fated trip to Burning Man, Dennis said he would be suing her for it. He just confirmed about a month ago that he is still pursuing a lawsuit against her, despite knowing that it would financially ruin her just to defend herself.
