At this point, I’ll believe in a change in the standings when I see it happen. Boston, Florida, Tampa, and Toronto in the top 4. Buffalo, Detroit, Montreal, and Ottawa in the bottom 4.

Florida fan here. They’re going to be rlly good this season. They’re depth is still insane. Montour was a liability currently. Btw, I’m from Detroit I’m a wings fan as well.

They replaced him with either washed up nate Schmidt or Adam boqvist... defense is looking a bit thin but they'll still be a great team I'd expect

Didn't the Wings beat Tampa 3 of 4 times last season?

The wings didn't lose to the Dolts a single time last season. It was a perfect 3/3

You guys are very wishy washy on the broadcast today. Lots of talk but no decisiveness. I think Kane starting the season will be huge! He gets to be a team leader and setup Vladi for the slaughter. I expect a really hot start and better defense.

leafs will not be in the top 3. they have had all the talent in the world for years and gotten nowhere with it. they got wjere they got with 69 goals from one guy, and with 69 goals, they STILL only got where they got. 34 is tired and frustrated. he regresses this year and leafs probably dont make the playoffs

Buffalo Ottawa and Montreal all committed to youth over the last few seasons. The Wings were the only bottom four rebuilding team in the Atlantic that did have a roster committed to youth. Most moves Yzerman made were short term fixes with older free agents. This year the Wings were not able to resign some those free agent acquisitions. In some cases Yzerman gave away assets in their prime to make cap space. You cannot build a playoff team around only two young players even if their names are Raymond and Seider. The only question this year is how many of the other three Atlantic rebuilders will leapfrog Detroit.

So what say you when Edvinsson and Berggren come up for a full 82 games this coming season (God willing), or when Johansson or Wallinder or Kasper or Mazur get looks for a few games at a time? And beyond all that, what happens when ASP and Danielson come up as guys like Copp and Holl are falling off the books? What happens when Cossa is finally ready to take the NHL pipes? It's like you either haven't looked into the AHL roster pool even for a half a moment, or you think those players are all stuck in Neverland and are never going to grow up to see an NHL game.
The core they have right now of Larkin/Raymond/Seider is more than sufficient to be a team that plays playoff games, especially considering a supporting cast of Kane, Debrincat (whom I expect to improve noticeably this season), Tarasenko and a serviceable defensive backend. Aside from all that, the core they're projected to have in the next 1-2 years and with a year of priming in the new league will be more than sufficient to *win* said playoff games, and potentially win many. Sleep on the Red Wings if you want, it's your mistake.

its all about playing as a team. Boston knows how to do thhat. Florida does in post season, not always in reg season. Totonto exists purely on the backs of a couple good scorers. they do not play as a team. Tampa lost the 2 people who made them gret (Yzerman and stammy) their dynasty will not be glorious again for a very long time. I see detroit with a potential #3 spot on the atlantic. They would have been there last year if not for a truckload of unforced errors. if they fix half of that theyre #3 in the atlantic
