    This entire video is a classic "What NOT to do" unless you want to risk getting hurt or looking like a fool. Always anchor your test stand so that it doesn't have to be held down by your hands. Never stand to the side engine in the propeller damage path should it break. Never use a damaged wood propeller. Never run an engine for hours on a test stand. Set the high and low needles, pull it off the stand, mount it and break it in in the air. Never run it at the same rpm for more than a minute or two tops during break in. Everyone has to start somewhere but when I see beginners trying to give advice. I cringe because the majority of times it's bad advice and could get someone hurt.

      When he used a drill to ream the propeller, then not balance it. My god hes lucky the whole engine didn't vibrate to pieces.

  • @lowtus7
    @lowtus7 3 года назад +12

    Best practice in my opinion is to use a cheap non synthetic oil for break in. High performance oil can hinder the break in as the rings may not bed in properly. It won't damage the engine, but may cause lower compression.
    You can buy a prop reamer to enlarge the prop hole, may be an idea, also balance your prop! Lol.
    Be careful and have fun.

  • @zubuxstein
    @zubuxstein 3 года назад +3

    the vibrations is normal, it is recommended to break-in gas two strokes on the airframe so it absorbs the vibration. Like you did is ok because is shaking and that is what you want. Many destroy them during break-in mounting the on a solid engine stand.
    The engine will let you know when is past break-in, if transition is a little rough, and has only low and high, still needs some more runs. It will be spitting out excessive amount of black oil when new. Once the piston ring settles, engine will not spit out too much black oil. Keep the oil mix 25:1 to 32:1, do not go any leaner than that, will kill the engine. Some plug-in tachometers will not let the engine start.

    I think you did a good job with your first gas engine. Yes, the test stand should be more secure for your safety, but you survived. 👍🏼

  • @VideoJocky1
    @VideoJocky1 Год назад +1

    I'm sure you are tired of hearing what you did wrong but here are a couple more. (1) check the spark plug Gap before installing into the engine. (2) Typically you need to measure the distance between the firewall and the face of the prop hub before drilling the holes for mounting the engine to the mount. This distance is usually part of the model documentation. If you don't, the prop may hit the cowling if there is one.

    Dude I appreciate your effort here, but man this was painful to watch! Anchor that engine on a large stand so you don't need to hold it! I could see you panic when the engine first fired up. This is dangerous man, I definitely don't want to see you getting hurt but you're definitely asking for it!

    Never drill out a propeller, it will not be centered. Use a reamer, available at most hobby shops or online.

    Thanks for your video 👍 I bought an NGH GT9 Pro 9cc which is great too but smaller, perfect for a 40 size plane. The stinger should be perfect for a 60 size airplane. The stinger 15cc will be my next purchase. 😉🛩️

    nice vid but please switch fill/drain tube with the vent, because this way you have set up causes problems like you experienced, have to turn model upside down when filling and draining?? other way would be normal, when you fill/drain through nipple that is connected to a tube inside that goes to the bottom of the tank, and vent line goes to blank nipple in the tank, which brethes inside the top of the tank.... good luck

    Nice engine,you can also use a chicken stick to start the engine, it's just a small stick so the prop won't strike your hand or fingers, you can make one or buy them, I also like o.s and tiger brand rc motors, they are a little expensive but very reliable too.

    I would not follow this persons precedure. Its dangerious not to have the motor jig anhored solidly and the gas tank was flopping around. Using the drill in this manor would definately damage the prop. There are much better videos on this topic.

    $240 is very expensive for such a small motor. Never look up RC engines, find small engines by looking for small engines, or "scooter motor" or something like that. Soon as you say RC the price goes up 10x.

    Clearly, you are new to attempting to start an R/C engine. Presenting this video in the way you did presents YOUR process as a dangerous behavior. Read the manual FIRST. SECOND, watch a PROFESSIONALLY prepared video with regard to the SAFETY, AND STANDARD PROTOCOLS , WITH RESPECT TO THIS HOBBY SPORT. YOU, are not prepared to provide a video of this type, and therefore pose a serious risk to yourself and anyone else who believes it's a simple process. DO NOT BRING ANYMORE ADVERSE POTENTIAL TO OUR SPORT. In the last few years to many " INEXPERIENCED EXPERTS, RUclipsRS, AND " INFLUENCERS" HAVE DONE NOTHING MORE THAN TO DEGRADE OUR HOBBY/ SPORT" causing the hobby to undergo critical regulation as never before. I am a 50 year airplane/ heli competitor, judge, r/c flight instructor and professional drone pilot in the Aerospace industry. One must be a BEGINNER, before they assume enough knowledge to " INFLUENCE" others!!
