How to stop hearing voice playback in Reaper and VB Audio Cable set up for Streaming

In this video I outline how I set up the VB audio cable settings on my PC to get my mic working through the REAPER mixer and into OBS - I also show how to stop hearing your own voice playback in REAPER.

when IO turned off the "Listen to device," my mic wan't working when i tested it. What should i do so that my mic still works but I don't hear myself?

thanks for the guide, eventhough it's 7 years old. i have a question, does this guide only for Reaper with VB Audio, or would it work if i only have VB Audio without Reaper ?
Hey there! From memory, this guide should work no matter what software you are using. However, I personally no longer use Reaper or VB Audio, so I am not entirely certain. If you are hearing your voice with just VB Audio, then try the steps and see if it works. That's all I could suggest for you

I have no idea why but this didn't change anything at all for me
Turn off your Monitoring Mode its usually off my default but it seems the latest updates have it on hover over the speaker icon on your track pane,, it should say Monitoring ON don't choose auto... TURN IT OFF

Hey, I am using an audio interface.This won't work, it is a Focusrite Scarlett solo 2nd gen and I am trying to play my guitar on discord, they can hear me, but all my effects are not being heard, so I thought this would help but I haven't even tested it yet because I can't hear my guitar in reaper, could you help me out?
It's because my Audio Interface won't go to 48k hertz in the advanced settings
