  • Welcome to the historic Don CeSar Hotel in beautiful St. Pete Beach, Florida! Join us for a video tour and review of our one-bedroom, gulf-view suite with a balcony, filmed in April 2019. Our impressions of the Don CeSar hotel and our suite were mixed-watch the video and read on in the description for more details!
We found our suite at the Don CeSar generally clean, comfortable, and modern-and we thought the views were excellent, as well as the food and dining on the property! We did have a few issues, however, that may dissuade us from staying there again. First, the bathtub was soiled, stained, and peeling. Second, the air conditioning, while effective in the suite's bedroom, did not work effectively in the living room. Third, the Don CeSar hotel elevators are totally inefficient, both because there are too few of them and because of a very complicated system for selecting your floor and destination. Be prepared to wait. Fourth, we found the Don CeSar hotel front desk staff to be unprofessional and generally unhelpful. And lastly, on our final morning, we had a housekeeper walk into our room an hour and a half before check-out time, despite the fact we had the "Privacy Please" sign on the door-while one of us was in the shower.
In short, would we stay at the Don CeSar hotel when we're in St. Pete Beach, Florida, next time? It's hard to say. At its current prices, we don't think it's a great value, and we'll likely investigate alternative hotel options. But if the price was right, we'd be happy to give the Don CeSar hotel a second chance.
Built in 1928, the 277-room and suite Don CeSar hotel has a rich and textured history. The "pink lady" (a name the hotel has been given due to its all-pink exterior) was built as a playground for the rich and famous, but during WWII, it was converted into a Veterans Affairs hospital and office until 1967. Most recently, Don CeSar was acquired from Loews by Host Hotels & Resorts, its current management company.

This video doesn't come close to describing how beautiful this hotel is.

This place needs a makeover, so many simple changes that could be made.

I love the view. I love the old fashioned atmosphere. I reminds me if the Lucy Desi Era. I Live That. I definitely want to spend a weekend there next time I'm in Florida. I just left Oct 2020 on a visit. I will be back soon.

My friend and I met James Garner and Carol Burnett on the Beach .They were filming the movie Help .That was in 1978,Garner bought us ice cream. I watched them film the movie . I remember it like it was yesterday.I dont know if the ice cream shop is still in the Don or not. Carol went somewhere, while James was kissing babies. Signing Autographs ,bought ice cream for everybody. Real nice guy. Movie flopped at the box office.

Nice story and the Ice Cream Shop is still there to this day. Me and my family always go to the Don Cesar for Ice Cream every time we go on vacation. Ngl, I still prefer Magnum Ice Cream though lol.

I feel like the architecture of the building and the details in the room are pretty nice, but there's a lot of unnecessary things in the room and things that are not worth the price at all... Imo, I don't think a vault is needed, alcohol, expensive ass water, etc. The Fiji Water is also WAAAAAAAAAY over priced... 2 bottles for $14, $7 each?! I just found a 24 count of Fiji Water for $8 in less then a minute. The Alcohol they offer too is just way too small. If I'm gonna be spending $750 per night (USD), then I want some bigger bottles, not a few small ones... Idk about the price of the Alcohol, but I bet it's overpriced as well if I had to guess. In general, I think the hotel is a nice place to stay and it has a nice room and DEFINITELY a nice outside with a pool area and etc, but I think it's overpriced for the quality of the room you're getting, especially when the AC doesn't cool off the bedroom really good lol. Me personally, I'd stay there once or twice for a couple of nights if I was getting married or for a honeymoon, but I wouldn't see myself going there regularly. Another thing, I think this room would be worth the price and everything if I was living in the years 1960-1990, but it's 2020 now... It needs a serious makeover and possibly room expansions along with a different pricing.

Very unimpressed with the room, they charge 500 a night! That looks like a basic apartment! Absolutely horrible! RIP off! Not even a nice big walk In shower! Standard tub, ugh glad I saw this because I was actually considering coming here for honeymoon, not anymore! Thanks!
