I have driven one of these GTI and found that when I position the stearing wheel low it becomes actually more comfortable as your arms can easily rest on the side as opposed to when the steering wheel is high up! Once you accept that, the driving experience just jumps to another level!
Yes, please, tell them. Having your steering wheel up high, tiring your arms when grasped with both hands, and having to look through the steering wheel to see gauges is NOT ideal driving position. Peugeot knows what's up.
My Polo is just like that... car kinda demands that I sit as lower as possible so I can use the arm rest and get a better view of the gauges. Despite the fact that I can't see the hood in that position.
i own a 208 has that same problem, but trust me when u're doing +200km u really can't drive it that high with a proper 3-9 position unless u are the iron men from deadpool movie 😂. For me driving casually i make it high for that aggressive drive cornering and so on. Otherwise, for a comfortable/long trips i take it low and relax.

The steering wheel is just awesome!! The position is very fine and the direction feeling on both 208 and 308 is just the most sporty, repsonsive and precise I've ever seen!
Even BMW has fake sound coming out of the speakers. The new M6 generates the old V10 sound from the E63 M6 if you switch to sport mode. VW is doing that too but they are using a sound generator which sits above the exhaust tips.
Its a shitty trend that ruins the car culture, that's why i hate new cars and only stick to older cars. Its literally made to appeal regular mainstream people that don't give a crap about cars in general. It's a nightmare to car people.

I would not buy this piece of shit French car.. they should stick to making croissants instead.. the 208 gti was/ is terrible.. It's great car for me. I don‘t have problem with that fake sound. If you think about that then you realize even the cars that cost 100k euros have fake sound through the speakers. It‘s faster then the Golf Gti or Focus ST. Interior is well build. Strange on first look but you get used to it.

I love the interior. You just can't judge it properly until you've actually been in one. I think the tacho is very intuitive, you just need to get used to it. Like the steering wheel. It is very reactive and feels great. All that nonsense about not being able to see the gauge cluster is just not true. Whether you are 1.50m or 2.10m, you can adjust the seat and steering wheel according to your height and you'll be able to see everything all the time. If you look closer you can see that they built the gauges "around" the top of the wheel. When you are in the drivers seat you see and feel that the car is built around you. It kind of hugs you, but in a relatively spacious way. The only thing that really bothers me is the placement of the cupholder. If you place something bigger then a 200ml cup in there, you can't lift and extend the armrest anymore because the cup is in the way. It also makes it tricky to shift. Not that long ago I was driving around with my sister who had her coffeecup placed in the holder. When I downshifted into 4th I knocked it right out. Luckily it had one of those closed lids with drinking holes and it was almost empty, could've been a mess otherwise. On the other hand, the glovebox compartment has a cooling function that can make it about as cold as your average fridge. Comes in very handy on longer trips in the summer. 🙂

Needless to say, it looks fantastic on the outside as well. I may just be getting another Peugeot, let me tell you that..
I drove GTI a few times and I didn't like the tacho. Not because I didn't see at it over the steering wheel or something, but it's just small and it is difficult to check the speed or revs when driving fast. Otherwise it's a great car, fun to drive. BTW: I have the cooled glovebox in my Fabia, too. :D Not sure how effective is it though, never really tried it on long journeys.
I own the 250bp model, it is a lovely drive and rapid whether its in dynamic or sports mode, sports mode is obviously a lot more fun and the car comes alive, becomes more responsive regarding throttle repose and the engine note changes (especially with the soundtrack) etc. The steering wheel position for me personally has not been an issue, I have easily managed to get both a comfortable driving and steering wheel position for my needs, the cluster for me is not restricted and I can see all relevant dials, display etc. With regards to engaging sports mode I understand there may be some frustration with the dials illuminating all red but if you know how to drive you are fully aware of the top ends of the limiter, lets face it you only have to remember 6 & 7 on the dial. Overall Its a great car.
Already on my 2nd gear box in my 270 Gti. After 10,000miles the secondary gear shaft gave up. Apart from that it's a good car. So if you hear a loud vibrating knocking noise when in gear and foot off the pedal. You know what's wrong.

Agreed, the fake sound is not fitting the car. Most cars today have fake sounds, including some very expensive ones. Motors' real sound is not always attractive, including some notable ones. The pioneer of electronic sound, for mass productions cars arre rather in the VW group, Peugeot only followed recently.

Fake sound research was all the rage back in the 90s. so someone needs to inform people that most cars today, particularly in the price-range above 40K have fake sounds, and mostly electronically produced fake sounds. If they let the engines produce their natural sound most cars would have ugly uninspiring sounds even at high-revs. Fake sound or not, this 308 GT is possibly the best GT in its category. It is also the better looking one outside and inside.

I disagree with what you say about the steering position. You're supposed to have it low and not reach up to the steering wheel. it's designed to look over so you're arms are less stressed as they would be in other cars.

i absolutely loved my 208 GTI and was tempted to upgrade to a 308GTI but ended up with an FK8 Type R and honestly still miss my 208,

Stage 2+ gets you almost 350hp with this 1.6 engine and only 1195kg empty weight. :D
