Well, it looks like this game DID come to a newer platform after all! Three cheers for the Thousand- Year Door remake!

There is so many directions you can go when working with TTYD. You can make a prequel, were you play as the 4 heroes of the past, you can make a side game like the Paper Luigi and the Marvelous Compass idea, you can even make a entire game with Goombella as an epilogue to the game, instead of the e-mail you get. So many possibilities for the story.

Very true! Thank you for saying this, as after the fact I realized that I never really gave any concepts for the sequels story, mostly just saying that I want something like TTYD. These are all great ideas. I’ve actually thought before that they could return Paper Mario to its RPG roots by making another series entirely called Paper Luigi. I hope one day that does happen.

Paper Mario Thousand-Year Door is probably in my top 5 favorite games of all time. With the atrocious direction Paper Mario franchise is in, I would buy a remaster of this game on the Switch and play it again.

Excited to see how this 'Super Paper Mario' sequel video will go!
Very odd, quirky case where a sequel goes 'hey what if we followed up this banger by scrapping the rpg system almost entirely for platforming and also set it in a multiversal victorian drama?"
Super Paper Mario is so full of strange, odd things in this maximalist style, that I wonder if a theoretical sequel could go all in and make a 'Spiderverse' styled genre-pushing romp through a ton of universes

When I think of an amazing sequel to TTYD. I want new battle mechanics that are hard to master, with better balancing with badges and partners. There would be new partners with new species and new abilities, each of which are all valuable! I also want each of the partners to have their own personality that we can connect with! There would be new over world abilities for Mario to learn. I also want a very fast start for people who already get the gist of Paper Mario (maybe we get three partners within the first 2-3 hours). I want the final boss to be Mario, like, the actual Mario, not “shadow Mario” or “cosmic Mario” or “Dooplis Mario”. This would carry the tradition of major Mario characters like Peach, Luigi, and Bowser being the actual final bosses of Paper Mario! I also NEED the game to start off with some book opening up the game, eventually transitioning to Mario and Luigi at their house, where eventual chaos ensues! There also had to be some significant recurring boss in this game that posses a significant purpose in the story. I’d also enjoy it if all npcs had changing dialogue theoughout the game, where they each develop and have their own names and designs. If it were up to me, I’d have the next game be about time travel! It doesn’t even have to be time travel in the Mushroom Kingdom! Like, with time travel you can do so much! I also need for the past PM partners to get referenced in some capacity in the next game. I’d also love it if more characters from the 3 main Paper Mario games were all referenced! I also want the expressiveness and expansiveness of Origami King! Like, when you whacked an npc, they made an expression, or when you talked with them, they showed the emotion they were saying they felt. Also, I need some stronger over world puzzles. I want the villain(s) to have a motive that makes sense and is really interesting. They also need to revamp the item system in this game. They need to fix the star pieces, as they were just poorly handled in TTYD. Maybe have a Chuck Quizmo building in the hub or future town.

I have a feeling TTYD will come to NSO eventually but it likely be another teir up or they may release a Paper Mario all stars thing down the line

The best sequel already exists. It's called Super Paper Mario.

This video is about a sequel in the same gameplay style of Thousand Year Door. In the video I state that more videos will come later about sequels to Super Paper Mario’s gameplay style as well as Origami King’s.

Great video, Chipss. It's a pretty fresh perspective, considering everyone mostly claims the game to be a flawless masterpiece. TTYD is not a perfect game, but a fun one for sure.
