Setsuna goes into the future to save Rinne V1, the one we met in the beginning of the story. When he goes into the future, he meets Rinne V2, who is just a loli Rinne V1 but they are different people. Anyways, Setsuna and Rinne v2 go through a whole mess to get Setsuna "back to the past." I put the "back to the past" in quotations because technically he is going into the far future in which society resets itself in a way. It's something like ice age with Rinne v2 then 50000 or something years later it's back to Rinne v1. It's really hard to explain so I apologize for the shit explanation. So when Setsuna and Rinne v2 figure out how to "go back," Setsuna goes back, but so does Rinne v2. (Before they left it's implied that they banged.) So Rinne v2 wakes up in this current timeline whenever it is, and is pregnant with Rinne v1. She lost her memories as did Setsuna. But when Setsuna comes after Rinne v2 gave birth to rinne v1, Kuon, or Rinne v2 in actuality, realizes that it was her Setsuna all along. So Rinne v2 is Kuon, and Rinne v1 is Setsuna and Rinne v2/kuon's daughter. Since the story kept looping itself in how Setsuna goes into the future, meets Rinne v2, then goes into the past, or technically into the future, and reuinites with Kuon, or Rinne v2. In the VN, you do not see the marriage of Kuon and Setsuna. Setsuna, using the information he learned from Rinne v2 in the past, helps Kuon of the present start working on a time machine. An actual time machine that will actually go into the past. Then Setsuna goes back to the far future to meet loli Rinne v2 all over again and the VN ends here. It ends here to imply that Rinne v2 completed the time machine, and that Setsuna goes all the way back into the past before the whole loop of events occurred. Since the legend of Setsuna and Rinne took place in the past, we can assume the same story has happened all along, and that the Setsuna and Rinne of legend are Kuon and Setsuna. This ending just cuts the ending short and poses them together for happy times, but the VN kinda leaves us to interpret that Setsuna goes all the way back to meet Rinne v2, or Kuon, and prevents this whole mess from ever occuring again. I know it's an awful long read and stupidly confusing but I'll try to answer any questions I can. If anyone else knows more about this than I do, please feel free to correct me.
For some clarification, when Setsuna intially comes back, he mistakes Rinne v1 as "his" Rinne, when it's actually Kuon. Kuon, both upset that Setsuna did not recognize her, and happy that her daughter, her most precious thing, was happy and falling in love with Setsuna. It's a big mess but then again, I'm pretty sure every writer at Frontwing thought "Hey, let's a write a story that even we won't understand."
I haven't watched the anime, only read the VN, so I'm not even sure if the anime explains it well enough. The VN is an expected 30-50 hours of playtime, and it felt like 80% of the story was explanations for everything.

One of the best anime ever. I wonder how many times Setsuna travelled to the future just to be with Kuon and have their dream come true. I wonder if the first story would go like this: first kuon travelled time to save her timeline. She met young Setsuna and they fell in love to each other, but she was killed by Norimasa Ohara. Having the knowledge about the machine Setsuna used it to travel time to meet Kuon again. After waking up from the capsule, he met Kuon and they fell in love again, then make love, and to fulfill their dream about saving the world, Setsuna time travelled once again. Kuon suddenly noticed it wasn't a time machine. To be with Setsuna, Kuon used a different machine with the same effect(cold sleep). She woke up 24 years earlier than Setsuna and she doesnt have any memories and she was pregnant with their child. After giving birth, she started to remember her past. 24 years later Setsuna woke up and he doesnt have any of his memories. Kuon saw him but she never revealed herself or even talked with Setsuna. Setsuna met Rinne and tried to help her regain her memories and after that she died. Kuon was mad because of the death of their daughter so she talked with Setsuna and asked him to save Rinne with the cold sleep machine without revealing her real identity and her relationship with him. Because of the side effect of the machine, which erase the user's memories, Setsuna keeps looping till he reach his 20's and till he reached this conclusion to where he retained his memories, solved the problems of Karen and Sara, saved Rinne and got married with Kuon.

The ultimate goal of his life was staring right in his face, and for how many times he lost his memory, never realized it at all. Only through his daughter, for whom he was trying to save, did he finally have the chance to find closure and finally manage to reunite and marry his sometimes long forgotten time crossed lover. It is truly a beautiful moment. I love it!

i really LOVE the ending they have in the anime, while the Visual Novel version is far more superior in almost any aspect (i played it) and have a TON of beautiful OST, it has one thing that I HATE the most and it's the ending, it was so F*CKING DUMB and didn't make any sense. I got frustrated after finished the game and almost want to write a fanfic where they got a happy end, but i decided to watch the anime and oh boy it's so rushed. They cut A LOT of the scenes and dump informations easily while in VN they did it slowly and perfectly that will make you feel anticipated to see the conclusions. And i hate that they only turned Winter Arc (that i loved the most in VN) into only 2 f*cking episodes, they didn't even include one of the most important side character from VN, and decided to make 3 unimportant extra characters. Oh yeah they changed A TON of scenes that makes it so different with the VN But i decided to watched it until the end and BOY I LOVED THE ENDING SO MUCH, they really added logical thinking to the characters and how to overcome their feelings. All the characters got a happy end and bring the end to the story Do i reccomend this anime? OF COURSE but after you finished the VN, The VN will tell you a lot more story and if you're unsatisfied with the TRUE ENDING you can watch the anime. Lmao for real. Like dude after everything he has done he's gonna loop AGAIN. And the poor mc only realizes it that he has done it for god knows how many times AFTER he goes inside the machine just for him to forget everything and continue the loop. Heck I think the real reason why I hated the true ending was that it ended in a cliffhanger of him looping again since I wanted some kind of conclusion (like don't end it with a cliffhanger and not give anything like a sequel, dlc, side story ANYTHING). While the anime was shit in everything it did give a proper conclusion and a good ending which I loved (ending the loop).
I got you guys. Ok so this is how it went. Setsuna went into the future in order to go back in time to save the original Rinne right? So when he goes to the future he meets a younger Rinne (V2). In that time in the future, Setsuna gets sent back into the past, (technically the far future), as does Rinne V2. But Rinne V2 woke up before Setsuna, and she was pregnant with her and Setsuna's child. She, Rinne V2, or Kuon, gives birth to the Rinne that we know of right. So it turns out that Kuon is Rinne V2, and Setsuna's true Rinne according to legend, and that Rinne, the child, is Setsuna's daughter. The story in the VN and anime is stupidly complicated so bear with me if I'm mistaken. I also cut a lot of corners but that's the general gist of it. Setsuna was always fated to be with Kuon, or, his original Rinne.

Well it's been 11 months...and i guess I've finally got the answer... Setsuna and Rinne V1 (Loli Rinne) were actually from the future and seeing that the "Never" Island is falling apart and their aim to save everyone in the future...After their marriage in the future...and (*BEEP*). (I wonder how many times they did since time was looping🤣🤣🤣) Setsuna goes back to the past to change the past to change the future. (NOW THIS IS THE COMPLICATED PART). He wakes up on the beach (Episode 1) without any memory meets Rinne V2(Actually daughter which we came to know in the last episode. How? Because Rinne V1 also build another time machine to go back to the past catching up with Setsuna) who had lost memory of a guy known as Setsuna with whom she ran away with and got deserted on an island where that Setsuna she knew found the time capsule thingy and kept Rinne V2 there...thats explains the aging...even though 5 years passed...she was the same age...and the Setsuna she knew died there writing the journal...and just like Original Setsuna and Rinne V1 ... Rinne V2 lost her memories...(Side effects of using that machine). (Leaving that aside for once...Original Setsuna and Rinne V1 never went back in time then they wouldn't have existed in the past) Rinne V1 in the past saw that Original Setsuna had fallen in love with Rinne V2 and so she thought of moving on. But Rinne V2 Died and in order to save her Rinne V1 suggested that there was a way to save her and that is by going into the future (she knew all along...everything) and to return to the past to change the future.(Save Rinne V2) So he made a choice that after returning to the past he would kill the old Setsuna and prevent her death. (In the future) Rinne V1 finds him(**MAJOR PLOT MESS UP...THIS IS THE QUESTION...WHERE THE F IS SETSUNA REALLY FROM PAST OR PRESENT? THE ANSWER IS LIKE NONE OF THEM. MAJOR PLOT PROBLEM**) (Just leave that aside for now) As i was saying, lemme make it quick im tired...skip to the part where he was going to the return to the past in the machine...(going back to the start of my comment. Ahhh the loop) but this time it was different her realized everything after seeing the cd that Rinne V1 showed and so he got the idea of getting married...and boom* another (**BEEP**) And off he went. (In the past) he wakes up on the beach...sees the ring and remembers everything. ..and off he went changing the past (*Note: in this timeline Rinne V1 has the Ring) Setsuna saves everyone and finally reunite with Rinne V2 (Daughter) But this time he finds out that Kuon (Rinne V1), Rinne V2's mother was actually Rinne V1 from the future and that he was Rinne V2's father...and you know what happened Rinne V2 accepts the reality and THE END. I've read this 3 times and still don't understand. It's on my backlog of anime to watch, but I haven't seen it yet so maybe that's why.

So after seeing this video I decided to watch the anime and when the whole plot finally started making sense I realized that the premise is almost exactly like the plot to a series I've wanted to see for a long time so in some way RUclips knew exactly what I was looking for and gave it to me.
This anime was veeerry screwy, makes it seem like time travel happens when hyperbolation occurs making it so he left his original wife, fell to love another version of that wife, and then married that wife for real, like 10000 years later, this anime is craZ

i really LOVE the ending they have in the anime, while the Visual Novel version is far more superior in almost any aspect (i played it) and have a TON of beautiful OST, it has one thing that I HATE the most and it's the ending, it was so F*CKING DUMB and didn't make any sense.
I got frustrated after finished the game and almost want to write a fanfic where they got a happy end, but i decided to watch the anime and oh boy it's so rushed. They cut A LOT of the scenes and dump informations easily while in VN they did it slowly and perfectly that will make you feel anticipated to see the conclusions. And i hate that they only turned Winter Arc (that i loved the most in VN) into only 2 f*cking episodes, they didn't even include one of the most important side character from VN, and decided to make 3 unimportant extra characters. Oh yeah they changed A TON of scenes that makes it so different with the VN
But i decided to watched it until the end and BOY I LOVED THE ENDING SO MUCH, they really added logical thinking to the characters and how to overcome their feelings. All the characters got a happy end and bring the end to the story
Do i reccomend this anime? OF COURSE but after you finished the VN, The VN will tell you a lot more story and if you're unsatisfied with the TRUE ENDING you can watch the anime. Well that's all for me :3

And the poor mc only realizes it that he has done it for god knows how many times AFTER he goes inside the machine just for him to forget everything and continue the loop.
Heck I think the real reason why I hated the true ending was that it ended in a cliffhanger of him looping again since I wanted some kind of conclusion (like don't end it with a cliffhanger and not give anything like a sequel, dlc, side story ANYTHING).
While the anime was shit in everything it did give a proper conclusion and a good ending which I loved (ending the loop).

I got you guys. Ok so this is how it went. Setsuna went into the future in order to go back in time to save the original Rinne right? So when he goes to the future he meets a younger Rinne (V2). In that time in the future, Setsuna gets sent back into the past, (technically the far future), as does Rinne V2. But Rinne V2 woke up before Setsuna, and she was pregnant with her and Setsuna's child. She, Rinne V2, or Kuon, gives birth to the Rinne that we know of right. So it turns out that Kuon is Rinne V2, and Setsuna's true Rinne according to legend, and that Rinne, the child, is Setsuna's daughter. The story in the VN and anime is stupidly complicated so bear with me if I'm mistaken. I also cut a lot of corners but that's the general gist of it. Setsuna was always fated to be with Kuon, or, his original Rinne.

rayaizen dapiaoen they did not travel time. The time inside the machine just freezes. It's just creating a loop until he saves his daughter Linne. Saving Linne from death creates a butterfly effect that change the future. Read the VN dude you'll understand.

Well it's been 11 months...and i guess I've finally got the answer...
Setsuna and Rinne V1 (Loli Rinne) were actually from the future and seeing that the "Never" Island is falling apart and their aim to save everyone in the future...After their marriage in the future...and (*BEEP*). (I wonder how many times they did since time was looping🤣🤣🤣) Setsuna goes back to the past to change the past to change the future. (NOW THIS IS THE COMPLICATED PART). He wakes up on the beach (Episode 1) without any memory meets Rinne V2(Actually daughter which we came to know in the last episode. How? Because Rinne V1 also build another time machine to go back to the past catching up with Setsuna) who had lost memory of a guy known as Setsuna with whom she ran away with and got deserted on an island where that Setsuna she knew found the time capsule thingy and kept Rinne V2 there...thats explains the aging...even though 5 years passed...she was the same age...and the Setsuna she knew died there writing the journal...and just like Original Setsuna and Rinne V1 ... Rinne V2 lost her memories...(Side effects of using that machine). (Leaving that aside for once...Original Setsuna and Rinne V1 never went back in time then they wouldn't have existed in the past) Rinne V1 in the past saw that Original Setsuna had fallen in love with Rinne V2 and so she thought of moving on. But Rinne V2 Died and in order to save her Rinne V1 suggested that there was a way to save her and that is by going into the future (she knew all along...everything) and to return to the past to change the future.(Save Rinne V2) So he made a choice that after returning to the past he would kill the old Setsuna and prevent her death. (In the future) Rinne V1 finds him(**MAJOR PLOT MESS UP...THIS IS THE QUESTION...WHERE THE F IS SETSUNA REALLY FROM PAST OR PRESENT? THE ANSWER IS LIKE NONE OF THEM. MAJOR PLOT PROBLEM**) (Just leave that aside for now) As i was saying, lemme make it quick im tired...skip to the part where he was going to the return to the past in the machine...(going back to the start of my comment. Ahhh the loop) but this time it was different her realized everything after seeing the cd that Rinne V1 showed and so he got the idea of getting married...and boom* another (**BEEP**) And off he went. (In the past) he wakes up on the beach...sees the ring and remembers everything. ..and off he went changing the past (*Note: in this timeline Rinne V1 has the Ring) Setsuna saves everyone and finally reunite with Rinne V2 (Daughter) But this time he finds out that Kuon (Rinne V1), Rinne V2's mother was actually Rinne V1 from the future and that he was Rinne V2's father...and you know what happened Rinne V2 accepts the reality and THE END.
