“Who else is here after Nolan won Best Director.”
-Literally everyone watching this in 2024
I love that they cut to RDJ a few times here and now years later they’ve worked together and he said said that a reassuring look helped him through that. Amazing. Actually this whole awards season with Oppenheimer is quite amazing, both Christopher and Cillian have both always been very private but their love and happiness about this movie and their success of it has given them some window to willingly open up, it’s very nice.
Yo
Ya I saw he mentioned RDJ’s support in the speech and came to look at the moment. Didn’t get it though
Yep fair and shows how much ledger was respected and still missed. Only good die young. I started fire by the way
I hate how some people look back at this like “he only won cause he died” his performance as the joker was one of the best villains I’ve ever seen RIP
Anyone who says that is just wrong
@24 7 wtf
Iu Iulitza it’s a movie dude, no need to bring politics into it
Iu Iulitza the award goes to the supporting actor who gave the best and most memorable performance. I think we all know that Ledger accomplished that more than all the other nominees
@Iu Iulitza No. The award was awarded to an actor who did an incredible job at portraying a darker version of the Joker. His acting thoughout the movie was phenomenal and 100% deserving of an award. Anything to do with "he only got it because he died" and your bullshit point of it being political is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If you disagree with me about the choice of actor because another actor that year also did a brilliant job in his role then good - that's a valid reason, but any other reason why Heath Ledger was undeserving is plain shit
_"Don't let anyone ever make you feel you don't deserve what you want."_

Kumar Naidu great moment
Green Lantern Saluting Joker

No ones talking about it because everyone stood up lol
TOM
It is weird to call it a support role.. He was like the main villain and stole the whole movie.
The movie is called Batman it's a movie about Batman. The villain in a superhero serves an important role and Heath definitely stole the show, but at the end it's all about Batman
Elijah Lawrence the movie is called “The Dark Knight” not “Batman” lol
Ole Jacob I would say in a superhero movie, its best to share the main character role between the hero and villain
@@SuperNathan777 uhhh do you know who is The Dark Knight?
Mighty Villain nahhh... Is it Spider-Man?
I’d call Christian Bale the supporting actor from that movie.
😂😂😂😂
From or of?
Yes. Thank you

@This Is What Awesome Looks Like lol.... Reynolds is peanuts compared to.bale as an actor..... Deadpool was entertaining but nothing close to the dark knight and bale performance was subtle and underplayed as it was required by his character.....
Insane to come back after nolan's speech today, he said his eyes locked with rdj while he was up there and rdj gave him a look of love and support, all while people in the comments are saying he was jealous
Ya i was one of those. It proves to me that no matter what impression a video gives could and will always be different to what's actually going on.
Came here looking for this comment too
Yes its nice to see this circle back
But he said in the middle of the speech... i dont see it...
The thumbnail really did RDJ dirty.
Yeah
This is his normal attitude
It really did. Now a lot of people think he was jealous but they just can't seem to recognize facial expressions. RDJ was clearly sad, even on the verge of crying I think. Heath was his friend after all.

It makes me so sad how Nolan during his speech kept glancing down at the award he was holding like he didn't deserve to have it in his hands. He wanted Heath back so much in that moment to experience his accomplishment, and he felt unworthy to stand in his place. They had such a special bond.

RDJ even has the same birthday as him
anon oh damn really? Kinda spooky
It wasn't a drug overdose, it was cardiac arrest caused by combined drug intoxication.
57 Year Old James Bond it was drug overdose. Call it as it is
RDJ was not disappointed... He was obviously thinking, "that could've been me that died from overdose." I believe Heath's death not only helped RDJ turn his life around but become more mature and humbled to not turn back to the one thing that took his friend
I was thinking that same thing that he realized if he didn't get it together it could have been him also who died of the same thing
No way rdj would have won that award playing in tropic thunder he's smart enough to know that where the hell did this topic even came from ?
I'm pretty sure RDJ already had "gotten on the wagon". I don't think it was too long before this, but he's been sober for quite some time now. Cuz if you remember 'Iron Man' came out same year as TDK, and they generally don't give big franchise roles to people who have struggling substance abuse issues; especially those who are basically re-inventing their career at the time.
This needs more likes so it can be on the top!
I think RDJ had already been on the track of getting his life together by this time. Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang was a movie that definitely helped his film career re-launch and that was in 2005. By 2008 Academy Award season, he was already in Iron Man

He died a Joker. The best Joker we have and will ever see.
EDIT: It is objective to decide who's the best. Heath gave in his all to the performance, and it shows. Mr. Phoenix is one of the most expressive actors out there, and he's undoubtedly going to do a great job. I am, in fact, an admirer of all his works. Jack Nicholson's version was brilliant for his time.
What I mean to say is, that Heath was a gem, and one must not disrespect his work in the wake of other also earth-shattering performances.
RIP Heath. I hope Mr. Phoenix will carry your legacy forward, make you proud.

RDJ was nominated for his role in 'Tropic Thunder'. He played a believable Australian, playing an extremely believable (but purposely stereotypical) black man. Lol
That deserves a nomination, but Heath did deserve the award overall.
I'm so glad that Nolan didn't go on. It would've been so easy to make it his show, but he spoke on Heath's behalf, not for him. True gentleman.
So deserved. One of the best performances ever. Nolan deserved a Award for Directing as well.
Why does RDJ looks like he just wake up from a bed
He was filming Sherlock at the time I think and that’s his look in the film
He is Tony Stark - he is always late or doesn't show up

Many are saying he got this award out of pity. But if he was still alive he would have gotten that award anyways, for the best performance that year.
Let's be honest tho all the times he's mentioned (except for the times his death is mentioned too) are too many. With his death and with the Dark Knight being a success and called the best cbm film of all time, he is a bit overrated

If The Dark Knight wasn't made, Tom Cruise would have definitely got the award.
when I was just a freshman in high school, one of my teachers said something I’ll never forget. “Sometimes when people die, all we say about them is ‘that’s too bad.’ Is that how you want people to remember you? You are more than that.”
when I think back about Heath’s death, it reminds me a lot of that idea. this man was a legend before he died, and still is today. he inspired me, my friends, and so many people with this role alone, so much skill and dedication to his craft…not “just too bad,” but a beloved talent gone too soon.
you don’t have to be a world-famous actor. but maybe we could all do something to inspire someone. help someone in need. teach someone something new. be more than “that’s too bad” when you’re gone. Heath is a great example of that idea, and if anything, I thank him for that. RIP
Imagine him in recent blockbusters. The Dark Knight is still my favorite movie because of him.
I dont think a single nominee wanted that globe. They all wanted Heath to have it
