Hi Mazzy - that is F...IN incredible. I love all those bands and have lots of music by them all - but nowhere near what you have lolol. The Beatles will always be my NO1 - its a no contest. The Stones, Hendrix, Dylan, Bruce, Clapton, Neil Young all in my top 10 (not in any particular order except for NO1 !! ) I was already into the Beatles and Stones, but when I saw Jimi for the first time on UK prime time TV - everything changed. I can still remember sat in front of the TV staring at this incredible guy - just unforgettable. Cya Doug (from down under)

I had St. Dominic's in my hand yesterday, gonna go back and get it ! Missing it for years, on vinyl. Mr. Tambourine Man is my favorite Byrds LP.. And yes, too bad Gene didn't stick around a while longer. Meddlle and Wish You Were Here, are my go to Floyd. Saw Bowie Nov. 1973 Celebrity Theatre Phoenix, Az on the Ziggy Tour... my best show ever ! Love love Hendrix, and Cry Of Love is in a 3 way tie for my go to LP's. In The Purple Valley is my fav, and most played.. finally picked up a minty Boomers Story.. I'm not familiar with the Grateful Dead.. Hehe.. will enjoy the rest of your video.. Thanks !

Fantastic Mazzy! You almost looked embarrassed and started to justify why you have so many Beatles albums...I have my very first album gifted by my parents - Beatles -Hard Day's Night to this day. One of the greatest benefits of getting old is that we have had time to collect and now, ENJOY!! Thanks for sharing, you are an inspiration (and justification why I collect so many versions of one artist) 'OnYa

love your videos and I have also spent most of my life (and money) on music. Back to buying vinyl again after years of CDs and digital but having moved many times including countries have lost lots of my old albums but even so 500 Beatles albums that's a lot. Not sure how you've financed all that but glad you have.

Well first if you divide these out over 55 years. Plus ten years in the record biz getting free and cheap records plus friends in the record biz for another decade. Plus being self employed for 37 years with some very good years up until the last five or so plus my son is grown and out of the house and there you have it. Just a priority I guess.

Great collection but also a huge tip of the hat to The Beatles for their prolific short time together and their management for marketing the hell out of a large body of work, but let's face it, a relatively short career. Yet they still manage to crank out that many different versions, collections, editions, bootlegs and branch out into all fields of marketing to perpetuate their product and get as much money from their fans as possible.
And despite being driven by greed from their fans, they have also managed to reciprocate wealth BACK to dedicated collectors such as yourself by having all of their wonderful merchandise continue to skyrocket 50 to 60 years later!
I still haven't played my Psychedelic Pill yet, some 10 years after preordering it so many years ago. I'm not sure what I'm waiting for as they came packaged very much unsealed so it would be virtually impossible for me to prove its never been played. Oh well. Perhaps I'll spin it before I die. Perhaps I will leave that honor to someone else that may not even know it. Maybe I'm 3 beers away from playing it tonight. Ha!
As always, it was fun joining you on this little journey. I wouldn't have pegged you as that strong of a Neil Young fan.
    Cheers!

Impressive indeed and diverse, not a big surprise but, out side of the 'Dead and Hendrix, I have every one of the records you presented as exemplars of each artist, after Beatles/solo, I probably have more Neil Young than any other artist but like you say, he continues to put out a high volume of work, honorable mentions from my record world go to, The Who, XTC, Zappa BUT not 'collecting'( hate that term for it)' on the same scale as you have. By last estimation I have just under 2000 records but you do have about ten years on me of buying records and working in a couple of record stores/industry probably was helpful to your access to LP's, not a competition of course.....just the facts man. Vinyl community vids are my porn( thats what my wife calls it). Enjoyed the vid, thanks Mazzy.

Thirty-four Jimi Hendrix albums is pretty darn impressive for an artist that not only managed to release a mere 4 albums in his lifetime but from whom there's only about 4 years worth of live performances to draw from.
On the other hand, artists like Van Morrison & Neil Young are frustrating for the simple reason that they won't stop releasing new albums and, dammit, it's just impossible to keep up! It'd be one thing if they were creatively spent years ago and you could safely ignore their new albums & know you're not missing anything, but they bot still release some really damm good quality product on at least a semi-regular basis. But the sad fact is that even if his latest record is really good, I already have 25 good-to-amazing Van Morrison records on my shelf and there's just a limit as to how many Van Morrison albums I really need in my life because, you know, there's also other stuff I'd like to have time to listen to. Psychedelic Pill is an Amazing album! and it kinda pissed me off when I heard it & realized no, I couldn't write Shaky off quite yet. How was I ever going to be able to discover and appreciate the worthy current, new artists out there if this cranky old fart hippie is still blowing my mind?

Hey Mazzy. You have a fantastic collection. But WOW. I only have around 150 vinyl records all together. But I'm not mad on getting every different pressing or from different countries or different variations and all that APART FROM WHEN IT COMES TO THE BEATLES. Probably out of the around 150 vinyls I have, around 75 are Beatles records. I wanted to get an original 60s UK MONO copy of every album upto and included the white album (which I have), then an original 68-69-70 stereo version of yellow sub, Abbey Road and let it be (which I have), then the original UK 73 red a blue (which I have). Then I wanted an original UK version of all those themed albums EMI and Capitol put out in the 70s and 80s. I.e. Rock n Roll, Love songs, Ballads, etc (which I have apart from Reel Music) then I wanted an an original past masters, an original LOVE Cirque Du Soleil, an original let it be naked, live at the Hollywood bowl original and reissue, original yellow sub songtrack(all of which I have) And then I wanted the original UK 1970 box set of let it be (which I got) the Beatles Box from Liverpool 8 LP box set (which I got), then I wanted all 4 of the Vinyl versions of the 50th anniversary deluxe box sets (which I got) and then I started to collect the late 80s and 90s Direct Metal Master versions of all the albums which I have and some are great and some aren't. AND NOW ALL I NEED IS THE 2019 Singles Box.Reel Music lp The anthologies, live at the BBC and On Air and 1 and then I'll have EVERYTHING I WAS AIMING TO GET. I have all the 2009 Mono and Stereo CDs, and all the 1987 CDs, and half of the XDR versions of the Cassettes. But then after all this what do I do when I have the anthologies, BBC ,1 and Reel Music? Where do I go from there? Will I be satisfied Mazzy?

I'm always curious to see what others are into. I've always felt that music is such a personal thing, and tastes vary from person to person. For instance, I can appreciate someone like David Bowie, but I've never connected to most of his stuff. Also, I agree with you about Van Morrison for the most part, with "Tupelo Honey" being an album that got me through some hard times in the past. I was lucky enough to work two tours with Van, being his driver (I was there for the Live in Masonic in SF back in 1995 and 1996), but he didn't say much, even though he was always polite. But after that experience and seeing so many of his shows, I cooled on him. I'm surprise as well not to see Brian Wilson or the Beach Boys on your list. I suppose many consider "Pet Sounds:" and "SMiLE" his peaks (albeit it took over 30 years for him to complete the latter), but I find myself fascinated with any artist who puts so much of their soul into their music. And looking at the comments, surprised how many people have XTC and Andy Partridge among their favorites. I have about 20,000 LPs in my collections, and I'm into everything from Buck Owens, to 10cc, to Neil Finn and Crowded House, to Dean Martin, to various soundtracks, to Willie Nelson, to Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, to George Fromby, to Nick Heyward. Another favorite is Scott Engel (aka Scott Walker) of the Walker Brothers. Just amazing stuff. I also have 3000 Beach Boys' singles in my collection, as that's been a life long commitment, to document and find any BBoys 7" single I can. I must me mad!! , but the music never fails me and that's what important!! Dig, DmGrk

Can recommend wholeheartedly Jimi Hendrix live at the Royal Albert Hall from his well filmed and recorded Spring 1969 concert shows, for me it’s the best in terms of sound and film quality that exists. Such a pity it still hasn’t had a major re-release due to many issues! Ummm so did you get the new Grateful Dead vinyl set of the Lyceum shows they did in 1972, exhaustively documented? Plus don’t forget Jimi’s Monterey Pop’s version of Like a Rolling Stone, one of those moments of history imo! Oh and also Led Zeppelin on Radio One, early in January 1969, Communication Breakdown!

Totally agree with the Kinks and the Stones, who really lost their edge and quality of material after the Beatles broke up, since they competed with the Fab Four during the 60s. However, I would rank XTC in the top 3 since al their varied, brilliant, melodic, thought-provoking records were A+ after their sporadic debut, which is understandable prior to Dave Gregory.
