  • Is God trying to tell you to do something, but you’re afraid to do it? God told Noah to build a ship. He must have thought, “You want me to do what?” Sometimes we can’t picture ourselves doing what God asks. It’s not always easy, but it is worth it.
For Abe and Rachel, God planted in their hearts the desire to adopt a child. Little did they know the heartache that lay ahead. For years they tried adopting, and they fostered several children. Every time they’d get their hopes up, they’d come crashing down.
They wondered if they would ever be able to adopt after their fifth failed adoption. Hurting and disappointed, Rachel expressed her frustration in prayer. God gave her a strong feeling of peace.
One month later, Rachel received a phone call. She shouted, “They have our baby!” It turned out that the day Rachel had said that prayer was the same day Jaden was born. He was the reason Abe and Rachel had had those feelings of peace in their hearts.
Abe and Rachel followed what God put in their hearts. It wasn’t easy. But they realized that sometimes the greatest blessings come after the hardest trials. Christ was the perfect example of that. They recognized the call of the Lord and chose to follow Him.
When God calls you do to something different than what you expected, act on it. You never know where it will take you. And it just might change your life.

This happened to me a few weeks ago! I got the distinct impression to apply with the Church to do web development (I haven't done that for many years). I countered with "I'll get certified first.", but the answer was no, apply now. I did and quickly got a job! I'm on my way to Utah soon.

I've been living in South Korea for over year working as an English teacher. Before coming to Korea, I was applying for many different jobs. I had student loans to pay. Then one day, I came across this ESL recruiting website and it talked about teaching English in Korea. I decided to apply not expecting to get hired. After a year, I grew so much from my trials. I learned to be grateful even in times of hardship. We have a choice to be bitter or to look at our trials from an eternal perspective. I never knew what talents I had until I came to Korea. I answered my call to live abroad in a foreign country only to find out that I am capable of learning many talents.

This is amazing counsel from this wonderful brother about trusting in the Lord. I love how he advises us to listen to the promptings of the spirit even when we are being told to do something different to what we are expecting. It is so true that often times we are on auto-pilot to do, or we have already pre-planned the situation in our minds of how we are going to accomplish things. I am always amazed at the beautiful talks shared and of the inspirational people who are examples of the gospel in action. These are also visual examples of everyday people who choose to follow the Saviour and acknowledge the promptings of the spirit, it is also a testimony and a inspirational reminder of what it looks like to follow the Saviour come rain or shine. The common theme in all the Hope Works messages are Peace and Happiness. Thank you Brother and Thank you Hope Works for constant rays of inspirational light.

Man... this was amazing. This spoke to me on so many levels. So thankful for the Holy Ghost and for the faith of this good brother and his family. God is good for sure and is the author of all of the joy I've ever experienced in my life for sure. He's got a plan. He's in the details. :)

What a beautiful story! You will be blessed. I have heard God's voice speaking to my soul many times, and when I choose to act on this wisdom I have been truly blessed! For me it's usually for the small daily things, like to go outside to help a family member with chores, or to tell someone I love you.
