    My Mom had one that I have inherited, in a nice green, as I’ve always been intrigued by their design, not knowing a thing about the gurgling affect they produce, that’s just an additional plus!! I certainly enjoyed all the glaze combos you’ve used here, most I have, but missing others. I love the pinks and purples blues produced. The fish water pitcher I think this would be a fun project to plan out with our sculpture group! Thank you for the grueling hours of fun you had to put in to this video!!

    Oh it was so sad to hear the disappointment in your voice with the cracks and I'm not surprised, those glaze combos were so beautiful. Such a shame :( The moon jar I think is more you're personal taste as it looked pretty awesome from my opinion. Beautiful Blue base! You do make me smile so many times, always a pleasure to watch you videos. Keep 'em coming girl :)

    Have you considered putting glaze on the outside of the bowls that you're having cracking issues with? Even a clear satin/matte? Might help to even out the expansion/contraction between the inside and outside surfaces that happens during the firing. The difference in stress on the two types of surfaces might be the cause cracking, especially where the pieces are thin???

    Julia I like your Marigold and Amaryllis bowls! Sorry about the cracks! On the bright side, you’ve managed to get fabulous glazed pieces. I’m curious about the cracking, with white clay vs brown clay. I wonder if it’s because of the difference in grog? Just curious. Thank you for the great video.

    • @ceramicsbyjulia8552
      @ceramicsbyjulia8552  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Lisa, thankyou I do love that combo. I have fixed them with kintsugi so feel better about firing the others now. I don't think it is grog as both the rich toasted and the speckled white have grog in. Some days do not like having glaze on just one side, could be that, or that clay is just sensitive, I am going to try building with it and see if it cracks with glaze both sides. I will go back to birch white and try that too, it is what happens as Potters nothing is guaranteed. I do push the boundaries a little bit too 😄

  • @micheledickey4066
    @micheledickey4066 7 месяцев назад +1

    Wow! Everything is just beautiful! I’m so sorry you had so many pieces crack. But wow the gluggle jugs are so amazing!! The pink one is my favorite!! Have you tried clay that has grog in it? That really helps to strengthen a pot.

    • @ceramicsbyjulia8552
      @ceramicsbyjulia8552  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hi Michele, I think the pink is my fave too 😃 my clay always has grog in with me hand building, the speckled white that I have used recently is the worst it would seem. I did use millenium too on the first pink one and that had a couple small cracks. I only have managed to get 1 white one without cracks. I'm going to put the rest in that are glazed and maybe try glazing the other side to see if that helps, if not will try the birch white when I get some more. If not will give up that technique with white clay 😆 love the marigold amaryllis combo so much though 😊

      @@ceramicsbyjulia8552 Oh good to know. I only handbuild but thankfully don’t seem to need grog in my pieces anymore. Thankfully because I just can’t stand the feel of it. Lol I finallly ordered some amaryllis yesterday. I know it’s going to be a favorite.

    • @ceramicsbyjulia8552
      @ceramicsbyjulia8552  7 месяцев назад +1

      Ahhh you are a hand builder too ❤️ I don't mind the grog clays I don't feel it in the ones I use, I did try a blac and a red and they were really groggy. I do like the extra stability it seems to give me but can't say I've really tried a none groggy except the millenium,ay have a go at building with it to see how it holds up. I did kintsugi on the w cracked bowls and they look lovely, so I'm less worried about the others I've got waiting to be fired as I can do the same to them. I think you will love the amaryllis, I will be trying more combos soon 😊

    The moon vase is so beautiful too, also not how you wanted it, but with the blue on the under part is so nice.
    Are you going to refire the moon vase and the big bowl?

      Hi Sheila 👋 I may refire the moon vase but not the big bowl as it has a little cracked in the glaze so will kintsugi it and keep it for my crystal collection, it's no hardship keeping pretty bowls 😊 the fishes are great are they, are you going to try to make one? I have done a test and filmed it on a short that will be out on Tuesday. For some reason if I put shorts out near a new video the video does less well as I think it gets lost down the list 😊
