I have I think more than 30 pairs and still would like to buy more If I had the space. As a matter of fact I am a physiotherapist, I do not need too many shoes and suits but I just happen to like classic men style a lot. Thanks Kirby, I appreciate the video. I have designed my closet and will be starting construction next month. I am fortunate to have the equipment to do this, all of the wood will be stained in a dark cherry except for the cedar used for the drawer sides. I have a large collection of shaving gear, soaps and creams along with my cigar and pipe collections that will be kept in the walk-in closet in Spanish cedar cabinets I am building, and using The Hanger Project hangers for all of my garments.

First, thank you Kirby for reading all the comments. One of the main reasons this is in my top favorite channels and why subscribed. For me and am sure others, pleasurable having sartorial conversations especially considering how few are in the community compared to those who choose to not dress appropriately. The notification came while tidying the closet, as always have trouble from immediately watching, this time seemed most appropriate to listen to a closet organizing video while actually doing so.
Second, regarding ties stretching, my Opa had his hanging for over 40 maybe even 50 years and never heard or seen stretching (I was allowed to borrow his starting in High School and then they were over 30 years old). Further, can say was not one to purchase expensive ties either.By the way, later on these were on a rack my Dad made as a late teen which folds flat against the wall or you lift up and slide back to lock into the horizontal, all wood, not even nails.
Third, appreciate the very through explanation on the sweater hanger. Was wondering if could used be all year, though had doubts and good having the confirmation. Reason being is wear sweaters all year as run cold. Goodness already cold enough to wear for the first time my Loro Piana cashmere overcoat tomorrow which bought this Summer for $35.

Hello Kirby, wonderful responses and engagement. Do you find many bispoke shoe makers who offer matching belts? Also, what are some of your top pics for belts? I am finding that some suits are not appropriate with belts and the trousers have the cinch option instead. Thank you!
Is it closet organization or it a closet organization
Hi Kirby, In Q&A 27 you mentioned you own denim. Any particular maker that is better than the rest? I’d love to see you in your casual clothes! I’m tempted to even say make a video on how to look your best after hours when the suit comes off. We all know the basics but maybe there’s something we could change to be all we can be.
Will your garment bags keep out silverfish?

I do not keep my shoes in boxes or bags but just use shoe trees. The closet doors are closed and I rarely see dust. If I do I just brush it off. Is this wrong?
I would love if your boxes had a finger hole on the 4 corners so that I could pull them out easier while they are stacked. This way I don’t ruin the lid from pulling in that area

Do you have suggestions for the kind of light or lightbulbs to use in a closet so you can clearly see the colors and textures when putting together an outfit? I find myself all too often having to walk all the way to a window to try to get a better look at what I'm about to put on.
I have ties that are classic patterns and some are 25+ years old and have been hanging the entire time. No stretch at all. Even the two wool ties that I own (go great with flannel trousers) are in great shape. That being said, rolling ties for travel is the way to go.
Another great video. I really enjoyed this and wish more people would at least try to step up their wardrobe. Thank you for doing your part to make the world look just a little better.

LOVE the tip about hanging yesterdays pants with the clamping hanger. I've started doing that and it's been a HUGE help. Short of using an iron, do you have any tips for keeping your dress shirts fresh and crisp for a 2nd wear?

Hey Kirby, what detergent do you recommend for machine washing wool?
karupt422 We carry some great detergents from The Laundress. They have a wool and cashmere shampoo that is excellent.
I recommend soaking your wool and cashmere socks first overnight and then washing in a gentle cycle in a mesh bag.
Hi Kirby, what lapel width do you recommend for a suit? I don’t want those super skinny type you see on cheap fashion suits, but similarly don’t want something that old fashioned. I’d like a contemporary modern business look so am keen to get your thoughts on optimal width before going to my tailor.
Urban Jungle Every element of the suit is about creating balance. Lapels that are too skinny or too wide do not do this. My Taylor suggest sizing the lapel so that it is slightly wider and half the distance between the interior edge in the shoulder

I am quite new to the channel and have been enjoying your recent content. I am curious if the bottle in the right of the camera shot is whiskey? If so, are you a whiskey connoisseur? It would be interesting to see if you have some sort of whiskey collection. I really appreciate that you interact with your viewers, it is one aspect of this channel that keeps me coming back.

Hye Kirby, in this Q&A you talk about traveling with your garment bags outside your suitcase. Any tips or advise on how you go about traveling safely to your destination with your suits still exposed to a certain degree? Thank you.
Olivier De Vriendt What do you mean by still exposed? It’s because I don’t want to expose my suit that I place them inside our garment bag. The alternative would just be caring an extra suit or jacket to the airport on a hanger, unprotected.
@@kirbyallison I was unclear in my comment, with exposed I mean that although such high quality garment bags offer great protection, they are not as sturdy as a suitcase. It sits on top of your carry-on? How do you store your garmentbag on a plane? Thank you for your effort to comment btw! :)
Olivier De Vriendt Actually find that I’m able to take better care of my suits carried separately in a garment bag and if I was to pack them in a suitcase. This is for several reasons. First, in order to pack suits in a suitcase, they really have to be compressed between other clothing, which collapses the structure and can cause wrinkling. Second, often times one is forced to check their suitcases. I’ve always been nervous about checking some of my most expensive garments. In general, I try to carry-on my bespoke shoes and suits (in garment bags).
Once on the airplane, I’ll either ask the flight attendant if I can hang my garment bag in the first class closet. Normally, if you’re polite and well dressed, they will allow you to do that even if you’re not sitting in first. Or, there’s normally room to gently slide in the garment bag folded on top of my carry-on luggage in the overhead bin.
I see, the part on the airplane is what scares me the most. I couldn't close my eyes knowing such valuable garments are in the overhead bin with fellow passengers just draging their luggage in and out potentially squizing your garment bag in a horrible manner… So far you haven't had any incidents? :)
Olivier De Vriendt This is why really take great care to place the garment bag above my carry-on luggage. I totally understand the concern, and share it with you.
