i went to Nepal last year and it is one of the naturally beautiful as well as safest country to travel for and there's so much to explore out there enjoy while being there
My NEPALI PEEPS-- Let me know if this is the type of Dal Bhat you eat or if this is strictly a tourist's or celebrational version. I strive for authentic dishes and for the longest time, I thought Dal Bhat was very simple- just lentil soup and rice. But recently I learned it was much more. This was my first Cooking Show video edit. Let me know what you think- it's slightly different from how I edit. Often, I never know what will happen when I travel but I am prepared to film anything. Nabaraj told I’d be taking a cooking class, but when I arrived I found my lesson was in a hotel kitchen and dal bhat had several dishes. In either case, it was nice going behind the scenes to see how this popular dish is made in Nepal, how Nepali hotel kitchens operate is interesting.
GRRRLTRAVELER | Christine Kaaloa yes but you will get more delicious in home than hotel. because nepalese house wives & mothers have magic in their hand.
Yes ,this is nepalese daily food ,sometimes in place of tarkari "meat" is eaten... but the lentils and rice is cooked in every house only diffence in making tarkari variety....
This is what we eat everyday but variety or rice and lentils tastes different. Daal vhat achar and vegetable fry is a must . And for celebration or special occasion we eat pulao which is made with rice as well :D
For those who don't know about daal I'ts basically a lentil soup. Making process : 1. Wash lentil couple of time. mix lentil with water according to your eating capacity. Add little bit more water because later lentil will become thick on boiling. for example: if you prefer 1 cup of lentil than you should add 2 cups of water. 2. put half teaspoon of oil in pressure cooker and add a pinch of salt and turmeric as according to your taste. (you can also put some jeera/cumin seeds or onion flakes or couple of dried chilies if interested. i personally like it) 3. after ingredients are fried, you can add mixture of lentil and water in pressure cooker and put the flame in high. After 3/4 whistles, turn off the flame and wait for the pressure cooker to cool for 5-10 minutes because the lentil needs to be soaked properly and it's ready ! Please try this :) love from Nepal.
Thank you for this video! I'm making Dhal Bhat today and was looking for what side dishes should go with it. Your video explains everything I needed to know..sending you lots of love. 💙
I miss those home made food.I am from Nepal currently living in Seattle.BEEN TWO YEARS .Hope to go back soon in a vacation and enjoy all nepalese food (I am a bad cook ,so missing home made Food.
Dal bhat is basically what we Nepalese eat two times a day and the receipes and presentation may vary according to the person preparing and seeing ur video its exactly the way hotel serves and is intresting to see how they serve the authentic style dal bhat
Thank you for promoting Nepalese tourism and culture.surely at least 10 people will visit Nepal after watching your videos which is great for cash strapped country like Nepal.
Yup Fred- I believe that why he didn’t need to soak the lentils maybe. That pressure cooker idea will cross to Nepal into Tokyo when I show my cooking class there.
I like this video! It's interesting to see how the food is cooked, when and what spices go in. I wish there were recipes for these dishes. I would love to try making them! Thanks!
dhsl bhat also includes so many things that they were beyond the reach....I would suggest you to visit the restaurants where you can meet your anticipations
Again wlcm to Nepal mam and I'm u r subscriber and I really like u r all videos. U r guest of our country Nepal so as per our country and family rules and traditional guest is like god so specially I don't take any money with u for lugging and fooding in our village's beautiful home and we get chance to respect and good hospitality to u and my family obviously will be happy and it's our pleasure..If we give respect to our guests defenitly they will also do same while we will visit to their country . If u have time to visit palpa pls come . It's one of the very naturally beautiful and famous place in Nepal . here are lots of natural and exotic things for visiting. . Ktm is some polluted bcz thats town but most of places of Nepal is clean and naturally beautiful even my district is also very clean and beautiful..3 yrs ago I have visited Japan, Malaysia and India with my family in tour package and I really liked all countries but we felt that Japan is a very safe country for everyone and Japanese really did good respect and good hospitality to us but we felt that India is very unsafe and dangerous country and Malaysia also unsafe so again I don't like to visit India and Malaysia.
I love how the chef was so particular about the plating, "one carrot..." Haha You did well to eat with your hands. I have done it on multiple occasions through India and Sri Lanka and always struggle with it. Guess I need more practice too!
I like Newari set at Patan , Dal bhat at Thakali restaurants more, Tibetan food at Tibetan restaurants, Indian Naan curry in Indian restaurants. I like sushi at Japnese, Korean at Koreans and Thai food in Thailand. Open minded not narrow minded also American food ,European also.

I totally agree with him that the food becomes more delicious when you eat it with your hands rather than with a spoon.
nop
I like how food are prepared here ....rustic with minimal used of masala !! Love from Italy
thats makes nepali food a bit different from indian cuisine.....cause of the less use of masala.....
