@@grrrltraveler Kathmandu is an amazing city, amongst the construction and rebuilding. It is truly hard to describe, it is a must see place and once is not enough
The best thing about Momos is that each place you go has its own unique taste .. That is what makes it that much special dish in the heart of Nepalese people .. Cheers from Nepal ..
Liked his explanation about Nepali momos - we agree that they tend to be spicier and more heavily seasoned than Tibetan momos we have had in NYC, which are meatier and soupier
Hey Christine. If you had to choose one or two of these momo places as your favorites, which one would it be? Im going to nepal next month and im already salivating, but unfortunately i wont have time to visit all of these places.
I am glad you video taped the motorcycle ride because it added to the video. How did the buffalo momo taste? Thanks for taking one for the GRRRLTRAVELLER fans.
+Fred Hixon oh Ashish’s royal enfield and the ride took the idea of 1 video to several videos about the experience. Ashish shared some good insight on that ride- esp about the influences. The taste was exactly how I said it was.
If I was only allowed one dish for the rest of my life, I would be very happy with momos. It's been too many years since I've been there, but some of the best I had in Kathmandu were often found in tiny little Tibetan tea shops found well off the beaten path. The sort of places that mainly serve locals. I never did see the open ones before. They look amazing.
Away from my country Nepal 🇳🇵 for almost 6 yrs now and I didn't knew we can have varieties of MO:MO nowadays. 😢 We eat homemade MO:MO here as well but I still miss the taste and spices of my country.
Hi Christine, your video is great 👍 as usual. I love dumplings so am sure I’ll love Momo’s . I’ll have to look for a Nepalese restaurant in New York City. I would love to taste them. They simply looked delicious. Nice to see you enjoying your travels in Nepal & I can bet Nepal is your favorite travel destination as that’s where they have Momo’s. Stay blessed Christine I love your channel so much. Lots of hugs from New York City 🌃🙏❤️👍💝💕💙🧡💚🥟🥠🍵☕️😘😍💖👍👍
Jamila Hadade Sure. There are so many places in Jackson Heights. Nepali Bhanchha Ghar is our favorite for jhol momo and Momo Crave has some very interesting fusion flavors to name a few.
Food and Footprints thanks for the info I will definitely check them out. I live in Suffolk county Long Island so I’ll go whenever I’m going to the city. Stay well and may God bless you take care 🙏👍
Having T MoMo is better in the winter than the summer season, Actually, T MoMo is a Tibetan snack, it is without meat, just a dumpling lump of dough, made of yak butter and flour. It has an awesome taste eating with hot chili sauce.
@@grrrltraveler you can find in any restaurant ... Go and ask for c momo ... C momo is known as chilly momo or spicy momo...and thank you so much for visiting Nepal. Lots of love from Nepal..❤
I've been eating Momos all my life.....never tried the open ones, even in Nepal. Open Momos is just an extension of Shumai (traditional Chinese dumplings), that explains the name of the restaurant. Invention.....I'm not sure, but introduced to the people of Nepal ? Yes. By the way, I am from India......and in urban areas Momos is our favorite snack, even beating Samosas and Idlis ! Love thy neighbour!
You should have one the next time you go! You will love it. Shumai are filled and it’s not an experience. This is the first flavorFULL dumpling I’ve tried in all my travels. 👌
I was in India (Chandigarh) from 1985-1989. The closest thing to momo we could find then were the dumplings that came with with the the bowl of wanton noodles at the local Calcutta Chinese style restaurant. We were hoping to find momo during a visit to Shimla, since we expected to see some Tibetans living there. But we had no luck. Later, we were told we could find momo in the Tibetan neighbourhood of Delhi, we but never had an opportunity to go there. I read/ saw somewhere that when the first momo outlet in Delhi opened back in 1994, people seemed suspicious of the meat being steamed.. It's unbelievable that momo has become so popular in India in the past decade or so. With a fairly large number of Tibetans living in India since the 1960s, I'm surprised momo didn't become popular much earlier in Delhi and other parts of India.
Yes, Raj it all happened in the last decade. Thanks to the Nepalese ( not Tibetan ) community in India, they took Momos to a whole new level. Today, it's all over the metropolitan cities. Restaurants, Mom and Pop shops, street corners, et al. A certain chain of restaurants called Wow ! Momo is today valued at 230 crores. Crazy right ?? Welcome back to India !
