Was very excited to see this... especially the ability to use apps... until I looked up the price. Over $1000!! Yikes!!
Yeah, I'll stick with the standard RC and carrying my smartphone for apps.
There's one thing you didn't mention, though, that I'm curious about. The RC Pro has external antennas. How much of a difference does that make in maintaining a signal where there are obstacles (like trees) and does it extend the range?

Considering the huge difference in prices, there should be a huge difference. For $1120 on the RC Pro, vs the RC at $200, the RC Pro should be more than 5 times as good as the RC. The Pro is obviously better in a few respects than the RC, but the Pro is for someone that has unlimited toy money.

The top performance and features, that just not available anywhere else, do always cost significantly more. It's like to say that formula 1 car goes only twice faster than usual car, so shouldn't cost more than twice more. The cost of the "top of the line" items is always exponencially higher than mass market ones.
What I do agree is you need to justify the cost by understanding if you do need this kind of performance. For professional users it's a "no-brainer" - it will pay itself in a couple of jobs. For recreational users it might be an overkill.

I bought the RC-N1 which also unlocks those features, as your phone can also install 3rd party apps. Would be nice to mention all the remotes that are compatible and have a matrix of what is available on each of them. I was very disappointed when I found out that the RC didn't have as much functionality as the RC-N1
One thing to think about with the RC Pro, is that it will most likely not be compatible with the DJI Mini 4 pro (which is rumored to be coming very soon). I am just speculating, but I would imagine it would be similar to the Air 3, using O4 transmission, this means that we will probably see
    - RC 2 (already released for the Air 3)
    - RC Pro 2 (not announced yet, but most likely will come later?)
    - RC-N2 (already released for the Air 3)
which will be the remote family that are compatible with O4 drones. I only mention this to say that I probably wouldn't buy an RC Pro right now...its also more expensive than the actual Mini 3 Pro ($669 with no controller) vs the RC Pro ($1199).
Last thing is that having multiple RC's can be pretty annoying, I think each drone needs to be "bound" to a remote, it only lets you fly the drone 5 times before forcing you to bind. So each time you go to fly, you have to rebind the remote to the drone, and then fly. The process to bind them is pretty straightforward, but it is still annoying to have to do that each time you switch remotes.
Would love to see more details on waypoints on mini 3 pro as well as anything on 3D modeling and photogrammetry.

Yeah it's pretty pathetic that a device that's supposed to be an upgrade given it's price being double, somehow manages to suck more than the predecessor. All because some greedy clown at DJI thought 'hey if we block it on RC we can sell more Pros' and forgot the N1 can already do it. 🙄😡🤬 And of course they'll never get around to unlocking Android for RC which would take nothing beyond code change, as per usual with devices been out for over a certain period of time. Just can't fix them the basic way they should be. MUST BUY NEW VERSION 😩😤

What is the range difference between the two controllers when paired with the Mini 3 Pro? My M3P + RC has very poor range compared to my previous Mavic 2 Pro. I'm wondering how much of that is the lack of external antennas on the RC vs the drone itself (Occusync 3).

A lesson for all creators, when you are comparing two things, you should only mention the differentiator in their names. Here are the main differences between the DJI RC 2 and DJI RC Pro:
    1. Transmission: The RC 2 uses the O4 system (for longer range), while the RC Pro uses the older O3+ system.
    2. Compatibility: RC 2 is designed for newer drones (e.g., Air 3), while RC Pro is more compatible with older models (e.g., Mavic 3).
    3. Performance: RC Pro has more powerful hardware for demanding tasks.
    4. Price: RC 2 is typically more affordable than the RC Pro.
    5. Future-proofing: RC 2 is more future-proof with the latest technology.
Comment: For the price, the DJI RC 2 is a better choice currently, offering more advanced transmission, longer range, and greater future compatibility. The RC Pro, though still powerful, is based on older technology, which may feel limiting as new models are released.

The question is: Are the extra features worth the additional $900 for the RC Pro remote. Shorter operating time, do you operate far enough to take advantage of the antenna gain? The displays both have viewing problems with bright daylight, you can add a cheap 32Gb Micro SD card to the RC. Do you do Live Streaming? If the answer to many of these questions are NO, then unless you have lots of cash to burn, the additional expense is not worthed. If you already own it congrats, if you are contemplating purchasing one, the RC is very capable for around $300 versus the $1200 for the RC Pro.

I am only very new to flying my Mini3 Pro and like you I wish I would have known that the RC Pro allows me to install 3rd party apps.
It’s the fly “by waypoint” that I really wanted and needed and didn’t realize the standard RC can’t do that except like you pointed out via time lapse ( Mind you, the RC is absolutely a huge improvement over using a phone etc)
Creating waypoints and letting the drone fly accordingly is hence not possible with the RC and sadly the huge price of the RC Pro was a huge turn off as a beginner but wished I had it just so I could install3rd party apps.

I'm sorry but this review is not complete at all, and even with wrong subjective and falses statements...
First, the button on all the way right is not only a confirm button but a Custom button like the C1 and C2 on the back of the controller. It's name ? C3. You can use it in the app, just give him a function...
Second, since the drone can produce video that are really big, you want a MicroSD card since in the app you can configure the app to use it instead of your internal storage. I absolutly assure you that you will need a micro sd card if you dont want to plug your drone into your computer or remove the SD card of the drone (or again, if you have the Cine version with 1Tb or storage inside the drone and you still want to transfert it wirelessly, needed if you've got only your phone with you, for example)
Third, for expension card you absolutly missed the slot of a LTE module in the back of the controller, not so used right now, but still a feature if you want to use your LTE module with your drone when you don't have signal directly with your controller...
Forth, in the mini HDMI section you also missed that you can either screen share your remore OR just feed the live feed the drone live video without the OSD.
God please do your own research before telling things like that.
    Good evening.
