I've had my Mini 4 Pro for a week and just now flew it for the first time. Coming from my previous drone, the Mavic Pro Platinum, this one is just amazing. The camera (screen) image on the new remote looks fabulous. The noise level is much less than my Platinum. I did a precision landing test too. It was to the right an inch from the takeoff configuration! TY MK! ☺

I think it must use the downward sensors to take an image of the ground as it takes off, then uses the downward camera to calibrate as it lands. I can't think of how else it could manage such accuracy.
Hi Mats, I look forward to upgrading to mini 4 ... later. The mini 3 just arrived 1 hour ago. So lots of learning to do :) So off to watch your "DJI MINI 3 Pro Beginners Guide - Start Here!" Good video on the precision landing!
Excellent demo Mats! I've had consistently great luck using the Precision Landing feature. I've had the same "Storage full" issue on my Mini 4 Pro as well. I finally cleared it by re-formatting the resident memory built-in to the drone. I use a 256 Gb SanDisk Extreme microSD UHS-I memory card with exFAT formatting.
Keeping in mind I have not yet purchased my Mini 4 pro, a question came to mind If you take off from say a table, then move the table out of the way, press RTH will the drone land at the point in "space" from which it took off, shut down and fall to the ground or sense the extra distance to the ground and land safely
The RC2 that you can get with the DJI mini 4 pro is basically the same remote as the one you get with the DJI mini 3 pro. So there are some big differences. But remember that the RC Pro is NOT compatible with the DJI mini 4 pro :(
I notice the MIni 4 Pro tends to jump around when the obstacle avoidance is sensing obstructions; including the pilot. Is there a way to reduce sensitivity or just disable opstical avoidance [quickly] when landing?
You could switch it to "sport" mode as that disables the sensors. Unfortunately though, the sport control sensitivity may not be to your liking for landing :) Although this is all configurable...
Change it to Nifty. This lets it get closer to obstructions and it doesn’t jump around so much but, of course, there is more chance of a crash because it gets closer.
Hi Mats, thanks for this usefull video again! The Mini 3 (Pro) must be at least 20 mtr away from the homepoint in order to be able to initiate RTH. In your video I notice that you only flew 15 mtr. away. This mean that the Mini 4 Pro does not have this limitation anymore or has this distance been degreased?
For me this is one of those cool features that wouldn't make me upgrade. I always land manually anyway. However, when you combine it with the many other improvements from the mini 3 pro, it adds to the list of reasons to upgrade.
I got my mini 4 last week, fly 2 times in door, first time out door.. but I didn't test yet.. thanks for you doing that.. mini4 pro yo expensive for me and I love that little drone much so I try not to crash it 😂😂...
It definitely makes a difference, WHEN the take off ground is uniform like a gravel road or asphalt where there are no strong patterns or contrast to recognize.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I always trying my best to be VERY particular about all the info I’m sharing. Sometimes I can of course be wrong and then I’m very grateful for my community that help me correct me. However for this particular info I will actually not amend this info due to the fact that it’s actually correct. I have personally experienced this multiple times and you can also find this info on page 50 in the DJI Mini 4 pro manual: “The Home Point can be updated before takeoff as long as the aircraft receives another strong to moderate strong GNSS signal”.
Did you make already a tracking/obstacle avoidance test between the Mini 3 Pro and the Mini 4 Pro in the forest? ...am very afraid, that the Mini 3 Pro could be better at tracking you from behind because of the sensors directly into the front with better resolution without the fish eye lenses. I would love to see that because I have to decide if I should keep the drone or not :)
Tracking would actually be riskier on the mini 3. The resolution doesn’t really matter because of parallax effect and stereoscopic vision which really don’t need that much resolution. Also the mini 3 has a very narrow field of view compared to the mini 4’s sensors. Always remember that obstacle detection is not full proof, and any current drone has difficulty seeing thin tree branches.
@@battery_wattage Wait. On the side I agree - because here has the Mini 3 Pro no sensors :D But the mini 3 Pro has its sensors focused into the front and instead of the Mini 4 Pro no fisheye lens! That means, if both drones have the same resolution of the avoidance camera/Sensors the mini 3 sees objects in the front way bigger and with more resolution. There is a reason why DJI writes on their Website (Specs) that the Mini 3 Pro dedects obsticals from 0,38 - 25m and the Mini 4 Pro only from 0,5m - 18m. That's 7m!!! less and you can see that while tracking from behind in the acting of the Mini 4 Pro. It does react very passive on thin obsticles like leaves. The Mini 3 is way more active in such situations. I don't think, that this is only a newer, smoother algorithm of DJI. I think the Mini 4 Pro sees only the obstacles later and starts it's avoidance a short time later. I Will call tomorrow DJI and ask them about that.
@@patfish3291 if you really looked at the specs, you would have noticed the mini 4 has a detection range of a whopping 200m. It will see obstacles far ahead well before the mini 3 does. That’s 125m!!! Happy flying.
Funny how you’re testing a feature called « precision landing » and yet people criticize you for being « precise » 😂. Great job, am learning a lot from your video. Question though: you mention the drone needs to fly to at least 7m to activate precision landing, but on your first flight we see an altitude of about 3M on your screen. Did you just edit out that part out ? Cheers mate. Thanks from 🇨🇦
Thanks friend! 😁👍 People have always opinions, which is how this community is growing 😃 Most of the times I did about 3 m and some I did fly straight up to minimum of 7 meters. Honestly in my tests I got the same awesome precision! Even if I did not ascend to 7 meters that is the height you should go to according to the manual.
Your videos made me buy the mini 3 pro! Now your videos are making me buy the Mini 4 Pro! Each is more than I make in a month. Please no mini 5 videos Ha Ha. Great videos please keep them coming. Plus house is paid for. Foods not.
personally in a video I don't think you gave the mini 3 pro fair review on landing , I would say m3p performed just as well as m4p in landing .. on top of that most of the time I don't even bother doing auto return to home as this is just purely being lazy ... you're much better off becoming a better pilot and learning to fly the drone back to you... The mini 4 pro in my opinion it's not really much difference then mini 3 pro . so there is no point trying to butter it up and make it better than it really is ... But thanks for the video anyway ..
I don't understand the reason for having to go up 7 meters for it to establish an accurate home point - plus it didn't seem to make a difference whether you did that or not.
@charlesmciver897 thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m always very particular about the information I’m sharing in my videos. I always do my research and fully read all manuals before record my videos. However from time to time the manuals are not complete and tests are required. Thanks again!
Thanks for all that great info - that makes a lot of sense. Is all this true for all DJI drones (including those without the 'precision landing' feature)?
It’s my favourite. I actually got it from one of the big role models on RUclips. He basically invented the “B-role” concept. Check him out @PeterLindgren1 🧢
This is just a typical RTH based on the GPS point stored as the home point when taking off, I don't understand what is so fascinating? My Mini 1 did this too...
No, precision landing was not a feature of the previous minis, it was however available in the first Mavics. Landing with the GPS only can be up to 2m off, while precision landing uses the downward cameras to take a picture of where it took off and adjusts the landing accordingly so,it is more precise.
GPS in consumer products are in general not super accurate so additional systems are needed to more precisely determine the position. And this is very clear when comparing Mini 3 pro with the mini 4 pro where the first does not have precision landing. I remember that my very first DJI Mavic actually had precision landing as well. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
BTW, precision landing doesn’t work if there is no detail on the ground or if the landing area has a similar pattern all over the place. So it won’t work on a nice grass carpet as it looks all the same for the camera.
@MK-Creator I mean your test was clear enough - I've just flicked through my Mini 4 Pro user manual again and read up on precision landing - I thought it was just that the GPS was performing better but clearly not! Good video 👍🏼
after a Mavic Air and Air 2 the Mini Pro 3 was awful landing, plus the fact they left off antennas is nothing but a scam to get you to upgrade next time round, which i'm sure it will.

CAN YOU DO A VIDEO OF MEMORY CONSUMPTION AND HOW MUCH TIME WE CAN RECORD???
Great video, can you test the flight time of the battery on the mini4? Many people on the forums write that it is poor compared to the mini3.
great informative video as usual, keep up the good work.

I love this feature of the mini 4 pro I will find it very useful for sure thank you for the comparison from M4P to M3P Cheers.
Interesting to see if the mini 4 pro performs the same landing on a ground with less contrast
What ate the noise levels between these 2 minis. Any improvements in prop sound?

Very nice 👍👍
Why not improve your skills each time you fly, manually land it. don't rely on RTH. get that big muscle in your head working for you. You can do it.
It's nice to know how good precision landing is, for example if your controller suffers a catastrophic failure. All electronic devices can fail.
Absolutely. But the purpose of this video was to show how well the automatic feature work… 😁

Does it make a difference if you use a landing pat/mat? kinda defeats the purpose but interesting to know how it works..@@MK-Creator

You can turn on the drone in your hand all you like as with all DJI drones, it will only record the HP once it takes off.
Please amend this.
