    The Bible does not mention who the Pharaoh of Exodus is by name, but there are about half a dozen candidates. Ramses II is the most popular choice since a lot of big cities popped up around his time and he did own conquered people, but Ahmose I fits the time line better from what I understand. If I remember correctly, but it has been some time since I looked in to it.

      In a way I feel a bit sorry for the both of them. Rameses has lost his son, lost his army, his country's ravaged by the plagues, he's never had and never will have the love of the mother of his child, and he realises in the end his father Seti was right, Moses was the best one to rule Egypt and not he, Rameses. He's destroyed everything he's touched.
      And Nefretiri? She doesn't give a damn about anything anymore. She has nothing to look forward to but death.
      And another great prophet 1,000 years later would term it perfectly:
      "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?"

    The best story ever told in the old testament about Pharos & Moses was in Egypt. God chose a Royal African country to tell the greatest story. Story is about two countries, two brothers, African Royalty and slavery, maintaining power at any cost. God shows how mighty and powerful he is through the journey. At the end, both men got separated and lead their own people.

    Ramses and Nefertiti (never teary, never cries) do not love their son. Like the desert (the deserted), it is barren and dry. A theme that runs through this movie is abandonment. Moses doesn’t know his real family and struggles with his true identity. The Egyptians keep this secret and use it to their advantage to keep control over Egypt/E-chip. I can relate to this feeling bc I have always felt I was adopted. I never fit in with my fami/lies on both sides. But I know for certain that I only have one daughter and I am not a Mother to any other person. No child is “supposed to die at birth” and carry that pain and burden on their shoulders. Even though I have been hurt by everyone that I have loved, I know that I am Divinely Guided. I can “read” a person’s energy, but this gift has been both a blessing and a curse. I have been called a witch, a gypsy, a fortune teller, a psychic, and other names that are meant to be demeaning and insulting. Yet these same name-calling lowlifes “secretly” cannot live without knowing everything about me! Their world would be so empty without me, GFY Em. That being said, I am not always right when I read a person; there are too many fakes and wanna -bees in this digital world. It’s like all the real leaders and legends have disappeared. Until one day an enigma makes an entrance and literally shoves (with a shovel!) everyone else aside. He is the real deal.

    • @paulastiles5507
      @paulastiles5507 4 месяца назад +1

      She does, though. Look at how intensely she looks at her dead son when Rameses isn't looking. Watch how she furtively touches her son's hand, then covers it with his shroud, after Rameses throws her against the altar and starts ranting. She doesn't *want* Rameses to know she loves their son, because that would be showing him a weakness he could use against her. But she most certainly did love her child.

    • @Yennefer_Of_Vengerberg--1266
      @Yennefer_Of_Vengerberg--1266 Месяц назад

      Witch, gypsy, fortune teller, psychic , you think those words are meant to be demeaning ? Those words are words people came up with to explain certain gifts . Maybe try changing your perspective on how some words are used. I never once ever felt like someone was trying to be demeaning when they called me those names because of my abilities.

      Nah, this was just how De Mille wanted them to act. He wanted them to be like living tableaux. It added to the religious solemnity, or something.
      Admittedly, some of the actors just plain weren't very talented (Pretty sure De Carlo and Paget were cast for their looks), but a few rose above it, mostly by chewing a ton of the ample scenery. I think Anne Baxter was most successful.

    A lot of creative liberties that people are taking as truth. A woman influencing the king of Egypt is not written in Torah. Only HaShem hardened pharaoh’s heart. The lamb was killed because it was one of the gods of Egypt. To show the Egyptians that their god had no power. Entertaining movie. According to Midrash pharaoh ended up being the king of Nineveh . Because he went through this he knew the power of HaShem so he quickly repented and made sure his country did the same.

    I understand they had to take artistic license but no woman would talk to a man that way back then...

      This movie grossly underestimates the power historical royal Egyptian women had. Ordinary Egyptian women were the freest in the Mediterranean and Near East at that time. Royal women were (as Nefretiri is in this story) often the ones who passed down the royal line. Some of them could even become Pharaoh.
      Nefretiri can do just about anything except leave the palace and not marry Rameses. Only she can bear the next Pharaoh of Egypt, so Rameses can't harm her.
