I'm only 22 but I've always liked Avalons. My friend in high school had their granddad's 2007 Avalon and it had heated and cooled front seats and fit all our friends and our stuff! I've always liked the styling and powerful engine. People are missing out these cars are great!
I'm dead 26 but I've owned a 2007 Avalon. Great car and got 30mpg on long distance road trips but this is America dammit. What you really need is a pickup truck. I drive a 2017 1500 hemi with heated cooled seats and I can run over curbs/off road all while getting 23mpg
I currently have a 1999 Avalon bought new by my dad. I'm kinda middle aged, and have been fortunate over the years to have owned new Nissans and Infiniti. I had also worked in the car business for quite some time. I still have the original window sticker for this car with 257k miles on it. It still has the original alternator, and A/C compressor that still blows cold. Since the 90's the Avalon has been the most, and or one of the most reliable cars in its class. I'm still pleasantly surprised how well this car drives! Just in the past year I recently moved to Alabama from NC, and have driven back and fourth twice since then, and to Dallas, TX (9 1/2 hour drive) from the Birmingham area, and it hasn't skipped a beat! I'd buy a new one in a heart beat!
LCF, I am currently in the 14th year of my test drive of another Toyota built product with no complaints so far. If you don't 'need' the 300HP of the new V6, the Hybrid will probably match the smooth nature of your '99 and double its fuel economy.
Definitely agree on toyota build and ride quality. On my 11th year of a camry and the only thing fixed were brakes, tires and battery as part of regular wear and tear. While I'm not a fan on how it drives (let's face it the word appliance is true), it has been loyal on multiple cross country trips and has never left me stranded.
In 1980 I started with the Corolla next the Camry and in 2016 the Avolon Limited and without a doubt the Avolon is the best car I've ever driven. In another year are so I will be buying another to replace my current one. I won't even be looking at anything else because they are that good on all aspects.
I am glad to see that Toyota has not given up on sedans or cars in general. It is a shame that many automakers now are turning to crossovers and SUVs. I feel that no American auto manufacturer will not have a sedan by the year 2030. I think this Avalon looks much nicer then the generations before it and I have to say, Toyota is stepping up it's design on many of the vehicles. I have never really liked the designs that Toyota has put out on the market but this new "design language" looks a lot better on the 2019 Avalon.
Matt Gamcsik it is refreshing that Toyota keeps small and midsized car production. I feel like Toyota is one of very few that has an entire vehicle lineup that makes sense.
Toyota is on a roll. New Corolla hatch that Toyota has said could lead to a GR version with more power and better handling, a new Camry that's not a snooze fest, an Avalon that's graceful yet youthful, a RAV4 that's no longer a grandma special. Toyota kinda came out of nowhere with all of this lol
@@mcp12300 Passenger Cars (i.e. Sedans) are a dying segment. Crossover's, SUV's, Trucks are the hot sellers. It got serious when Ford dumped it's cars (except Mustang). Chevy is dumping the Impala and Cruze next year. Top sellers like the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla are not selling like they used too. Don't be surprised if the passenger car segment maybe get one more generation before they stop selling them. I don't think you will see any new passenger cars sold after 2024
Always liked the avalon and wondered why it seemed to go un noticed by so many people. Looked at a top of the line avalon in 2017.....fully loaded, top of the line that had a sticker price of $44,000. U.S.D. If I got serious about the car, I probably would look at Lexus before buying one. The resale value would be much better. Just my 2 cents.
I currently own a 2011 Avalon and was given a 2022 as a loaner this week for a day. I was excited to get to drive it but quickly realized some glaring shortcomings. The interior is noticeably tighter than my 11, and doesnt feel much roomier than a Camry. Speaking of Camry, the steering wheel comes from the Camry parts bin. The ride was also jarring on the Limited's larger wheels. Not sure how MotorWeek called the ride "supple." The transmission shifting was abrupt and harsh, and I was surprised that only the driver door had keyless entry. I grabbed the rear door handle expecting it to unlock and low and behold; nothing. For 300+ hp it also felt slower than it probably is. So like the way of the Maxima, the flagship car has been made obsolete and unnecessary when the cash cow Altima/Camry offer basically all the bells and whistles for $10k less.
The Avalon is the same exact car as the Lexus ES350 Heck it’s the same 3.5L V6 and the same Trunk, and suspension. Tail lights and doors are the same also.
Like the 2019 even with the big mouth. My 2003 XLE has a 18.5gal tank but the 2019 has a 14.5. was the fuel capacity reduced to incorporate body style or was it to accomadate the spare tire?
Also, for budget-conscious buyers who want the size of a large sedan with the fuel efficiency of a typical small hybrid vehicle that makes it worth the extra pennies. Toyota just might make some people actually say "I love what you do for me!" and do a freeze-frame jump like in those classic TV commercials.
sgirn10 My thoughts exactly. I thought large corporations did drug testing. The designer and the VP that approved this design need a random right away.
This front grille is insane... The should make two versions of the front grille, one more classic and an other like this one. It's a pity, because the overall car looks good.
Nice" Since I won't be buying the Buick lacrosse a impala with a Buick badge on it with no identity of any Buick DNA.... The Avalon will be my next new sedan
Why move away from what it was previously? A cruiser for old folks and and people that still like big sedans. Nothing to be ashamed of. Making it "sporty and more modern" makes it less of what I consider Avalon to be, as well as less of what I liked about mine. Seems to be the goal with each update. But what do I know?
The problem with older customers is that they steadily stop being customers, for reasons that'll remain unsaid here. Younger customers are MUCH more likely to be repeat customers. Buick can tell you all about this.
Nice. If you wantes to appeal to a younger gen, flat bottom wheel, TRD motor to 330 hp, hood scoop and nife wheels and redesign the grill. Otherwise, not bad.

I agree 👍 with both of yous.
If you like Toyota and want a super comfortable car, these are really nice.
Joshua Jacob Are you kidding me?
Joshua Jacob Fucking idiot!!! Do your homework.
I've seen so many Avalons with 300- 400k miles
this car gets me laid by 50 year old single moms

Styling is debatable but you could certainly drive across the country in comfort in one of these.
You guys are trippin. This thing is sharp and gorgeoussss. Keep it up Toyota!
David Nacson to each their own bud
David Nacson Toyota do make the most ugliest (in a good way) and most aggressive style they made. It’s literally gorgeous.
Toyota Brony It looks like shit and many others would agree.
David Nacson many would disagree too
HodsBroo If gorgeous is the new horrendous then you are right.
Toyotas V6 engine runs on regular gas & get 301hp nice
Corey Cameron sport mode is beastly.
So does GM 3.6L V6.
Guest yeah but that’s a gm crap so
@@user-oq3lv6lv7x I agree with you complete garbage
Yet my Lexus 3.5 makes 308hp and requires 93!
I hope that this new Avalon will reverse the SUV trend, so that sedans may dominate once more.
Loyalmoonie It's gonna take a lot more than one car. SUVs and trucks are the popular vehicles to have right now even if they arn't needed.

@@chuckers40 that's basically what I said with more detail but I agree with you.
It's a nice car except for the chain link security fence on the front.
Gaping Toyota "mouth" aside, it looks really good. I'm impressed. Should be a good long-term car too.
Beautiful car! Love the grille and sleek headlights, it gives it a sporty look.👍

no one will be able to replace John Davis
So hard to compete against this thing even if you don’t like it. Big and lots of power yet returns 26mpg.
I love this Toyota Avalon 2019 beautiful car I but I would prefer silver I have a 2003 Avalon and it's is a silver Good Job Toyota
I'm a Honda guy, but I'd choose this over an Acura RLX for sure.
The Hybrid makes the most sense. It beats any other large car by at least 10 mpg.

People don't realize this but spend $10-15k more for the ES than the Avalon, which is the ES under the Toyota marquee.
I dig everything but the grill
More grill than flava flav but i still like it
What grille, I didn't notice it.
IndyFlick The disgusting Psuedo-Lexus vomiting grille? Honestly..
Oh, I see it now. I though that was a chain link fence the car was parked behind.
Horrendous
The car looks better with the chrome stripes on the grill. I would buy one.
I love the touring...
Front looks much nicer in person especially in red color
Toyota, why aren't you offering Android Auto? You offer Apple CarPlay but not everyone uses an iPhone.
that car is goanna be relaxing and fun
The design of 4th gen is the most beautiful of Avalon. The 5th is not bad but I prefer the 4th.
You guys do very good reviews
I'm looking at this car and the Camry XSE
Freddie Slaughter get the touring trim for this one

Whatever happened to 0-60, 1/4 mile times and braking, etc.?
Happy 38th season MotorWeek

I'd say give it a V8.
So much better than the Maxima with the horrid CVT
The xle avalon does not have a camera on the front if you buy the Xse then you get that I may buy a touring or the xse
I would get it if it was a rear wheel drive
0-60, braking (60-0) ?? wtf more like a road trip,,, than a road test lol
Why is it many Toyota and Lexus front-ends look like Darth Vader. Lexus says to Avalon, "I am your father" can you pick the bugs out of my grille?
Ron Dail it comes from Toyota Racing
Toyota is the father, Lexus owners don't like to acknowledge that fact.
again with this longer lower wider, is anyone's parking space getting longer or wider?
If they’d put Fog Lights in the front The Grille wouldn’t look so weird
It sad that automaker are trying make us but SUV and crossovers everyone don't want a svu personally love sedans
L O V E .... IT
My eyes hurt looking at that front face. Superbly designed sedan with a mismatched face.
That grille though..... the car looks like it's constantly screaming at the top of its lungs.

AWD is all I’m asking for at this point
There is limited awd, I got 1 الحمد الله
Dentist approved Toyota braces!
Go for the top of the line hybrid!
If they would just delete that upper portion of the grill where the badge is located, then the front end would look 10x better...
Michael Ronn lol sir please those cars last forever and fun as heel to drive no matter what u say.

Damn motorweek you are like a month or two behind on these. That grille needs to be a lot bigger!
Sucks it was discontinued
I can't stand all of them crossovers and SUVs out there, they think they rule the roads

Mark VandenBerg interesting
Avalon is an "American sedan" designed and built in the United States by Americans and not sold in Japan
