My wife bought the XLE back in 2019, and still loves her car. I barely ever get to drive it. But when I do, it is a fun car to drive.
BETTER then some Luxury cars.
Great well rounded car. Luxury Sporty and quick. Large and reliable. Even the hybrid at 43MPG is damn good MPG for its size. This is a great product. The grill is the only thing people seem to disagree with. The grill does look great on the XSE model in a darker paint color where it doesn't stand out as much. Other then the grill this car is a home run. There is no other Japanese car in america that can compete with this car. This is even better then some luxury cars like what Acura has to offer.
Not just the XSE, but also the Touring too... ;)
Acura has become a joke in the luxury department.Like you said, the grill would blend in with darker colours.Like Nathan says,it does its job like it’s supposed too.
"Acura has become a joke in the luxury department"
For quite a while beforehand, yes... but after seeing the impressive all-new RDX for 2019...
...I think I'm willing to give Acura another chance... (please don't kill me for this)
FarhantheMovieGuy. AKA: SpongeBob99Swell No one’s gonna kill you. It’s your money & you worked hard for it so spend it as you see fit.
The hybrid would be killer if they offered a "sport appearance package" that gave you the Touring's black grill and black mirror caps.
Why bother with the V6? It's not a sports sedan, even in V6 Touring spec. So why not get the hybrid, a smooth 43 MPG and cruise in comfort? It's a Buick, not a BMW.
You'd need the 2021 Avalon TRD for that.
Toyota was trying to aim for a younger audience but your absolutely right. This is a gentlemen's vehicle and having all that horsepower really doesn't make sense.
The best thing about the v6 from Toyota is that it runs properly on 87 octane gas. If you go to the same motor in a Lexus it is tuned slightly different and is suggested to use premium gas!
I’m considering the hybrid XLE model but I also wish Toyota would’ve sacrificed 2-3 mpg and put electric motors to power the rear wheels and make this an AWD sedan. Also wish the new RAV4 hybrid would come out earlier than 2019 really was looking to trade my small suv for that model but this Avalon is pulling me towards a more plush riding and fuel saving alternative.
kaivitipower You don’t have to worry about scraping the front bumper on a speed bump on a suv
Your Crown Max has arrived.
Next generation Avalon with higher horsepower than the regular Crown Sedan with AWD.
Reliable 6 speed transmission instead of the E- CVT.
I purchased the 2019 XSE and love it!
I'm digging the touring package.
V6 is where it's at
Fusion Sport isn't that engaging, compared to other sports sedans.
CareerFireman, fast or quick? (There's a difference.)
I’ll take economy and comfort over performance all day, everyday.
The V6 on Toyota’s is outdated (performance wise)
@@jeffm5014 301 hp on a 3.5 V 6 is out dated ? What full size car has that much power out of a 3.5 l engine
For the record, other music that is absolutely fine in any vehicle is Bon Jovi, ACDC, and Imagine Dragons. However, the hands-down best song for driving is "Danger Zone." I don't care WHAT you're driving; when that song comes on the radio, you may as well be in a muscle car. I myself instantly get a smile and envision myself screaming down the road in a Crown Vic Interceptor (as I legally scream down the road in a Honda Fit). I promise you, that song will physically push your gas pedal further down. It just does.
Same with Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo by Rick Derringer.
Turn it up loud the first time you hear it.
You're welcome 😂
I want this car🤤
I’ve seen a few driving around town, and even the base models look amazing.
It irks me to no end that each model doesn’t have full LED exterior lighting, but the cars without it still look good.
I just wonder how many years it will take for these things to actually become affordable
I love Hybrid
i get the grill ,i like the design
I'm New to cars and this is my first purchase. I love Toyota and Hyundai since they have several fix points in Africa specifically Ghana. But i need your advice on which to go for, Sonata, Camry or Avalon. These look great and I just learned to drive. Any help is welcome, thank you all
They've definitely increased the base price by a few grand. After tax, title, and licensing, you won't be able to leave the dealer-lot for less than $36-$37k. Quite steep for the base model, though it is a nicer car. It seems like they are trying to remove the overlap between the Avalon and Camry V6.
The 2019 Avalon Hybrid XLE I test drove had a $1000 sunroof and $700 speakers but no buttons to open my gate and garage. I bet you can't just buy a optional $20 garage door opener by itself. I'm guessing it's in a $2500 add-on package.
Get a $30 Clicker at Home Depot.
What, no grille on the fenders?
I’m buying one
Humberto Rodriguez my guess is you didn’t buy one.
The hybrid is Consumer Reports #1 large car.
Wow!! Nice job, Nathan!
Love this car . Beautiful as the XSE especially. Too bad a Camry V6 and an Accord 2.0 sport will beat it off the line. Wish they made it 345 hp. Also AWD but still worlds better than previous Avalon
LOL that the Camry V6 and Accord 2.0 Sport will beat it off the line. Will you be racing with those other cars? Do you know who the drivers will be in those cars?
A car is all about the driver. You may be a better driver and beat them all. Besides, how often will you be wasting your time trying to race those people? Instead of cruising and enjoying the comfort the Avalon offers. The Avalon has enough speed that those other cars will not leave it in a dust, if at all they will even beat it when you don't even k ow who the drivers might be in the other 2 cars.
Enjoy your comfort in the Avalon and ignore the people racing.
Which would you rather drive and own for ten years ,a Camry XSE or the Avalon XSE with the v6? or any sport like trim...
All they needed was awd and this car would be a no brainer. I have to go with the genesis until they get awd.
Ok, the basking shark grill might grow on me, especially since I don't see it when I'm driving the car. I'm not so sure about what sounds like a CVT transmission in the V6. Reminds me of 50's Buick Dynaflow transmission (all torque converter with no gear changes).
rik999 the avalon v6 has an 8 speed, the only version that has a cvt is the hybrid
Agreed that you won't see that awful grille while driving. Unfortunately, you're forced to stare at, and touch, that cheap-ish interior. Those "chrome" plastic buttons are exactly what killed Lincoln 20 years ago.
The base model has the nicer more reasonable looking grill...I wouldn't want the touring with the huge grill and fake engine noise.....not sure why that's appealing to anyone.
Again with the dimwitted way too loud porno music to keep our attention , glad we can’t hear the car
Zero information about ride smoothness and quietness.
You should sell cars. The look on your face and the way you said it; I'm ready to sell my kidney for that touring trim.
5:51 "If I survive into my 60s..." You have to make it happen, Nathan. You will! :-)
Anthony C Thanks!
Hate the grill
Isn't the XSE supposed to be the sportier version of a car in Toyota's lineup? I'd love to see a review of the XSE compared to the Touring trims.
Roger J The Touring trim is the upper level version of the XSE trim. There’s some nicer sporty bits on the Touring above the XSE, like quad exhaust.
The Touring is the best of both worlds
I think toyota back really hard , watchout hyundai
Why is the lens so dirty?
Any news on the new Rav 4?
What was the HP and gas mileage on the regular v6???
John Wesley they havent released it yet but it has the same exact drivetrain as the v6 camry 301 hp / 267 lb-ft
I believe someone else mentioned 22 city 31 hwy for the v6
301 HP and 25-26 MPG combined.
80s porn music at the 3 minute mark is refreshing!
Why hybrid always got less horse power than regular engine
Love it
Which battery does the Hybrid have?
Right Lane Hog Nickel metal hydride
Nathan, In that case the Hybrid (on sensible 17" wheels) is definitely the way to go for anyone seeking the more traditional Avalon driving experience coupled with exemplary fuel economy. It might also be the best fleet/taxi choice until Toyota sends their new Tokyo Hybrid taxi our way :)
Right Lane Hog I agree!
Nathan, Let the 'early-adopters' see if the lithium batteries on other hybrids offer the outstanding longevity nickel batteries have demonstrated for the last 20 years. Having said that, the 300HP 8 speed combo is impressive in an entirely different way. Do you think there will be an AWD Avalon?
Right Lane Hog I think it would make more sense for them to keep it a front wheel drive vehicle for now. That way, they’re able to keep the overall costs low.
No mention of the grill. Everything is perfect. Perhaps it would then mean staying in a 4 instead of 5 star hotel with complimentary bar.
Does anyone know the relaxing song they used when showing the regular v6 Avalon?
Get the hybrid. The v6 "isn't a race car
Kevin Wiltshire ^ this. It ain't a sports car. It's like adding 20" on a Prius. You are compromising it's purpose.
So you pay $1000 more for 86 less horsepower. Nice.
And more MPG. You failed to mention that.
60 isn’t that old😁
The hybrid gives you MPG but this car is too heavy for that weak engine. You gotta take it easy everytime.
The V6 is not good at MPG but isn't bad either and the engine is "bulletproof" .
André Lima I have the V6 Touring, absolutely love it!!!! Awesome driving, comfortable and does good on gas, considering it’s a V6
make it rwd and it would be amazing!!!
Thats GS350 territory !
They really dropped the power of these things, i have a 2005 Avalon with 280 hp stock
These days it is all about adding technology in cars than hp. I mean, how many people would be needing more than 300hp? To speed when if caught you get a ticket?
We have speed limits everywhere. We all know when we speed, we all risk having tickets.
300hp is more than enough to go fast and cost you a lot of tickets. Just cruise in this Avalon instead of speeding, but use the 300hpto quickly get on the freeway, merge or overtake. Then back to cruising the speed limit. Your car consumes best, last longer and you get a comfortable and enjoyable ride.
Than thumbnail looks like it’s gonna eat me
I don't think that grille is big enough. 😏
No headroom
what.. hybrid panda music in a hybrid sedan video????
If you understand this comment then you are my new friend
Can the exhaust sound augmentation be turned off? Or does it default to on, which would make me NOT buy this car, or any other with this childish and fuel wasting noise.
You can buy the XLE, XSE, Limited, or hybrid models.
🤦♂️
Reg Sparkes Then use its custom drive mode. Stiffen up the active dampers and tighten up is steering.
Fake exhaust sounds! Lol 😂 now that’s funny !
Music in the background is really really bad.
God why is Toyota doing that with their grills lately? An otherwise pretty awesome looking car gets knocked down with that gaping maw of a grill.
Seems to be the trend among many makers and models.
More air flow into the engine bay I guess
The look is driven (no pun intended) almost completely by current style/trend. The proof is that until a few years ago, none or almost none looked like that and engine cooling seemed to be just fine. In a few years from now--OK, let's give it five years just to be sure--that look will be a thing of the past...and once again, engine cooling will work just fine.
Can't possibly be 43 mpg in city and highway on the hybrid? That doesn't make sense
Its a tank man hence not the 50+mpg like it's little brother prius which probably weigh a half ton less and better codrag efficiency with the smaller size and all.
Engine is off 50% of the time in city driving, hence awesome mpg.
Makes perfect sense, slower low demand means more battery use so city driving uses battery more than highway.
I’ve already got 42 mpg on my 15 hybrid for daily driving. 43 for tests would be a piece of cake.

Way too expensive. What is Toyota thinking? I’ll take the corolla.
Angel Gutierrez its the same price as last years avalon, what car has adaptive suspension, 300hp and has almost S class level rear seat room for 40k? brand new?
Angel Gutierrez There not the same class, and if you were expecting the avalon to be same price as the corolla then thats not the case lol
Technician Tactics I think it’s a pretty good deal for me!!!
Angel Gutierrez it’s a full size sedan what do you expect? Full size cars aren’t cheap
Technician Tactics Corvette C5 costs 10 grand only... it’s used but still.
They both look ugly just like any other product Toyota and Lexus is recently releasing. Toyota is really going down in design and reliability!!! 😂🤣😂
Toyota styling SUCKS
azera55555 like you looser. 😤😤😤😤
real classy Toyota fanboy who can't handle another opinion
lol ironic cuz I think Honda's styling sucks even more with their chrome bar grilles and gaudy wheels, eww
azera55555 boy! Stfu and go watch Hyundai Azera videos😂😂😂
